VICE VERSA
The Equilibrium of Space
Confluance. Balance. Harmony.
In general, most people would perceive half glass of water as it is "a half glass of water". However, for us, instead of recognise it as literally half, we intend to redefine this situation as a balance of 2 extremes, which ia a scenario od "Not Full" and "Not Empty" either.
Similarly, our concept for the half pavillion is to establish that equilibrium space to embrace and to balance the paradox of Nansha Bird Park, which give meaning to our design - "The Vice Versa"
Our half pavillion is carefullyt manifested in response to the contradicting and contrast qualities of Nansha Bird Park, through the 3 equilibrium aspects:
1. The Site (Solid vs Fluid) - an intersection of solid platform and fluid lake.
2. The Skin (Eternal vs Ephemaral) - a balance between the skin's eternal silhoutte; and it's ephemaral responses to the natural phenomena such as rain and sunlight.
3. The Structure (Natural vs Experimental) - a mixture of the original beauty of bamboo; and the experimental bamboo features.
Together, these 3 aspects forms a series of playful & flexible spaces, from fully open to fully enclosed, connecting the users of the half pavillion to heaven, earth, inhabitants and their inner self.
In conclusion, The Vice Versa, is the confluence point that seek to unfold, to integrate, to harmonise and to complete as The Other Half of the beautiful Nansha Bird Park.
