Take a few millimetres off the bottom of the shoe storage skirting board, so the top sits flush with the small corner skirting.

Great job m8. I am going to shamedly pinch this idea, but with a couple of modifications - instead of wheels, use under drawer tracks.

Thank you very much & pinch away. Would 100% not use wheels. I was let’s say unsure of my skills to ad draw slides or something else so would do it differently if I was doing it again now.

That skirting profile is called Ogee and is available from skirting board specialists. Or you could try an architectural salvage place.
I have Torus picture rails, and I got a lovely piece of hardwood rail from my local architecture salvage place. My skirting boards are Ovolo profile and they are in Wickes.

I've used wood filler in ply end grain before, works well if you are painting. That little internal corner job on the skirting board is called 'coping'. DIY for Knuckleheads has a few good videos on it for next time. Job's a good'n, hidden well. With that, I am completely up to date with BrookesWood Builds! Cheers Paul, keep it up, the armoury is coming along nicely ;)

Looks great! I think you should re-do the trim at the bottom as you noted you will regret it and see it everyday. Simple fix as well!

😔Yeah, it is definitely on the list, I should have done it at the time. I will hang my head in shame.

Haha - we're totally going to use the "rustic" excuse on a future project. But really like how this turned out!!

Thanks my friend. Yeah rustic is always a good back up excuse to “well it’s meant to be short” or the classic “it’s a design feature” 🤣👍🏻

Nice work, you’ve made me look twice at my stairs now haha! Also, I use decorators caulk to fill gaps up to the wall, a bit easier and cheaper than polyfilla 💪🏻

Thanks my man! never thought of that. my local building merchants ran out of the stuff I usually use and I was... let's say....pressured by management to get it finished.

I see only one problem in making this a 'secret or hidden' opening. The baseboard could/should have been cut and lowered to match the wall and other baseboards' continuity. Other than that, Mate, Good Job !!!
