Thank you thank you! 🙏🏼 It’s never good when the washer starts acting up on Sunday right before a new work week. Running this and listening to some craziness while it went through the recalibration and we seem to be working again!!! Hallelujah

yep same here..I've always been a loyal Whirlpool customer but this new Whirlpool washer is an utter piece of crap. They went too fancy with the electronic crap and now I've had nothing but trouble with it. I'll never buy another washer that has electronic controls..just nothing but trouble waiting to happen. Bad job Whirlpool, I've been loyal for 3 or 4 DECADES and this POS washer has made me think Whirlpool is starting to do the "engineered failure" that all the other companies are doing. They sure don't make them like they used to.

I bought this exact machine (at least, it looks like it) in 2017 to replace my 30 year old Kenmore top loader. I used it for nine months, then put it out on the curb .... some poor sole took it, I guess (or it ended up in the back of a garbage truck, I hope). I bought an old Amana top loader for $100 to replace the new Whirlpool HE I threw out; it works great ...... the work clothes actually get clean, sheets don’t get tied into knots. It uses lots of water and wastes a lot of energy ..... too bad ....... it works, so I’m keeping it. I’m convinced that HE top loaders are useless pieces of junk. I threw out a 9 month old HE washer .... that’s how bad it was. Absolute junk.

My Whirlpool washing machine was stopping on WASH after filling with water. If I pressed the START button, it would drain the basket then stop again and go into standby mode. I first shut off the water valves and removed the water hoses to check if the filter screens were clogged. I wiped the cold water filter as it looked like there were just a few mineral specks like sand. I reattached the hoses and tried this recalibration technique. filled my basket with a load of laundry, crossed my fingers and hit the START button. It started the FILL and WASH cycles, no problem. Thanks for the video!

Just wanted to say THANK YOU for posting this video on recallibrating this model of Whirlpool washer! I followed your instructions and it worked like a charm. Perfect! Last year, this problem had happened for the first time - not knowing the cause, I called a local appliance repair man. He showed up, and 5 minutes later, he said it was fixed. I asked him what the problem had been, and he said that the "brain" or program board needed to be "recallibrated" and that if it happened again, to call him and he would have to replace the entire program board (or whatever he called it) - parts + labor = $350+. Well, now it has happened again - only this time I looked this up on youtube which led me to your video. That first "repair" cost me $150 - I got snookered by this SOB but got a little smarter when it happened a second time. I should report him to the BBB...lesson learned. And, I actually have gotten along fine with this washer - no other complaints. I have read into this recallibration issue further and learned that something as simple as an unbalanced load can cause this problem. So, I am now more conscious of how much I put in it at once, and to be sure I distribute the clothes more evenly. Thank you SO MUCH for posting this and saving me some big bucks!!

    Guys.
We had this problem from the first week we got it. Guy came out, replaced a shifter thing. Same problem happened again.
Lo and behold. It was the valve. If you check the diagnostics, you all prob will see the sensing and wash lights, blink, followed by the done light (blinks once) that error code means it’s taking TOO LONG TO FILL. It means that there is a valve, the one that lets the water flow in, that is not sending in enough water which is causing it to take forever to fill. This causes the machine to automatically stop because it senses an error. The valve needs to be replaced because sometimes the hot water can warp it and deteriorate it! Get the valve replaced and try to use COLD, not hot, unless necessary. Also, make sure nothing else is plugged into the same circuit. Ours has worked amazing since the valve was replaced.

thank you! It worked for me! First I reset the system -- unplugged for 1 min and then opened it 6 times within 12 secs.... hit cancel for 3 sec to shut if "off" because it wanted to sense -- then I did the recal as per video -- but for those that are like me screwing up the last turn/step for the cal to start like I did six times convinced the machine was broke and a POS -- because he said stop at rinse or something -- he correctect himself --- the last place to click the knob for the cal to start is directly below the "normal" option -- so think of normal at 12 o'clock -- and the last position of the knob to end up to start the calibration is six o'clock .... and at first when it started to cal it sounded like a jet was going to land on my house -- but after a minute it's running smooth.... thank you

Not long back I had a Roper that lasted 25 years. The matching dryer still works great and I wish I would have repaired the washer rather than buying a new whirlpool with all the unnecessary sensors is nothing but trouble from day one. What part of a washing machine needs sensing ? nothing the old ones without sensor were 10 times better. Just another way for things to breakdown. Scott don't call yourself mindless, these were built to be trouble from day one. I am giving this method a try in hope mine will go through the spin cycle, what crap.

Thanks for good information! I have had problems with ours not finishing cycles... ended up replacing the water inlet valve. We have well water which is hard water and it wrecks havoc on appliances. That being said, I think this washer is poorly designed and would not recommend it to anyone. The water inlet valve is an easy 15-minute job anyone with even minor skill can handle. Thanks again

all these new features, are allegedly to make our lives simpler 🤷‍♀️
I prefer the more “manual old ones”.
I think I need to this procedure

My brand new Maytag top load HE washer is a complete lemon. when i wash bedding it makes these horrible banging noises, requires me to babysit the machine while it refills the basket TEN TIMES or more trying to "rebalance." using way more water than an old school washer. when i wash clothes they leave soil residue in the creases of the clothes. I have used this washer for over a year and every single time i try to wash a cotton blanket or cotton comforter it makes these horrible banging noises and even after repositioning the items multiples times it still fails to balance EVERY TIME. and when the machine tells me it's done the blankets are still soaking wet and smell like sweaty soiled clothes because it never gets properly agitated or spun/drained. The machine tells me it's done but the clothes smell like sweat and dead skin and are dripping wet, obvious signs of a deficient washer. can't clean and can't spin dry. so now i'm drying a soaking wet blanket for over THREE HOURS in the dryer that smells like dirty clothes because the washer told me it is "done" because it simply stops attempting to spin after multiple attempts. I cannot wait for a class action lawsuit against Maytag top loader HE washers, they are the worst in the world. I will never buy anything Maytag as long as I live and will tell everyone I talk to about how bad Maytag is. NEVER MAYTAG, THE WORST BRAND OF WASHING MACHINE EVER MADE. I cannot wait until the class action lawsuit arrives. Maytag you deserve what happens to you for selling a lemon, you complete and utter scumbags. AVOID MAYTAG AT ALL COSTS. Also their dryer is way too hot at the "low" setting, burns my clothes. worst company ever. and they don't even honor their heavily advertised warranties because MAYTAG is complete scum.

OK, here is what he did. Began with the dial on NORMAL....Click left one time... Click right 3 times.....Click left one time.....click right one time. Lights will all light up. Now click right until only RINSE lights up. Push start button and washer will began to re calibrate. I tried it and it works. Now my brand new washer is working fine.

Bought one today for $100. left once, right 3x, left, right, flash for a second, change it to rinse, press start, will take a few seconds or an hour to recalibrate. copy onto paper and put on wall near your washer in case youtube doesn't work. God bless all the helpers in Jesus name. Amen

Hi ! After trying a lot of things on my brand new washer, i call Whirlpool, they sent a guy who change a piece underneath. This piece is supposed to make the drum turning. BIG change ! It's much much better now ! i wish I could post a picture of this piece but it took less than 15 min... It seems to be a common problem.

if you go to diagnostics on it, you probably have the same problem we did. The first two lights blink, then the “done” blinks. It’s too slow filling error. The valve needs to be replaced!!

Thank you! Turns out you do NOT have to start at "Normal," but that does help with our own mental image of the whole thing. Left ours to just sit for about 4 days (bought at yardsale, got it home, and it stuck after filling the tub about 10" of water,) and ... On a lark we purchased a new control board. It came today, and I decided WTH, try the recalibration one.more.time. (We couldn't get it to go the first 15 times.) IT WORKED! And now, it's running through a cycle just fine... So the next mystery to solve, is how to truly get it IN to re-calibration mode, reliably!! Do you have tips on that? (I would consider the 'mode' to be the step where all the lights come on, and it's waiting for you to choose which 'code' - spin or rinse, that per other videos ARE different functions here.)

Will this help with my water not filling up and not putting hot water in?. The machine will only put an inch of water in, and then it starts its wash cycle. It will also only put cold water in(Yes hot is on).
