Welcome to my follow up video on the ChillWell Portable AC Review. In my last Chillwell Review video, I got a few comments with people saying I had the Chillwell pointed right at the thermometer which made for a bad test. So this time I did a similar test but with them CLEARLY pointed away in a different direction with a 1-foot gap between them.
As an update overall, I have really enjoyed having my ChillWell and just ordered another one because I have liked this one enough in the last 2 weeks.

I personally use it with it blowing right on me most of the time and but I just wanted to do a follow up because some people didn't like that last timelapse I did of it.
This time it only dropped the temperature in my office from 95 down to 78.
so not as good as last time but this time it wasn't plugged in to a direct power source, was further away, and not pointed directly on it. So this should better show its ability to cool the room around it.
I'm still very happy with my purchase and it hasn't given me any problems and still holds the charge the same as the first day. I usually have it plugged in though.
if you watch closely in the timelapse the water was just above the ChillWell Logo and in an hour it goes down a little.
Anyways I really hope this helped show it better to those that we're saying it should not have been pointed directly on the thermometer and well now you have 2 reference points... How it cools your room and how it cools directly on you.

I just got mine and tried to run it. It just runs water out of it on to my floor. I noticed it's dripping really fast from the tank. Is it supposed to or is the water supposed to drip down at all?
@@noellenoelle375 Do you have the cooling cartidge inside?(the manual says without that in water can leak) is mist coming out of the jets if you look inside(things that look like mini speakers) , otherwise a little build up on the vents is normal ive seen but it never spills out. You should contact their support if you keep having that issue sounds like it might be messed up.

In every advertisement for this product it tells us it can cool a room down in a few minutes and, the person in the room stated that they had to put on sweat clothes there is none of that in this video, thank you for debunking this "too good to be true" ac unit

yeah it works, but its not some miracle it does take time to cool the room as you can see in my timelapse it wasnt done in minutes it cooled it off in 1 hour

this is awesome. I do motorcycle racing and I might get the 4 pack bundle deal they have and put the 4 in my trailer and start them early in the morning while it's cool and then have those run almost all day so it's always super cool in the trailer.

This is a fantastic post. I discovered this product on TikTok. Although I was initially skeptical, we are very grateful for your review.
It is just a miniature overpriced “swamp cooler.” I’m sure these things work great in southern California, Nevada, or Arizona; but if you live in Florida where it is always 90%+ humidity, it’s not going to do much. In fact, it’s going to INCREASE the humidity in your room making things worse. Yes, it may help cool down a bedroom IF, IF you already have a main AC unit to remove
the humidity. But if you don’t, this thing won’t work. Also, keep in mind that by adding ice from your freezer, your main AC unit must work harder because your freezer is basically a relatively inefficient heat-pump that expels heat from inside your freezer into your house to freeze the ice inside it. So your central AC unit must work double-time to remove the extra heat created by your freezer AND to remove the extra humidity that this unit creates.
Another SIGNIFICANT ISSUE is how much does it cost to replace the sponge-like “cooling pads” that are always saturated in water, attract dust, and WILL mold?
If you are using it at a place such as work and YOU don't have to pay
the power bill, then this thing might help cool you down a few degrees and be
worth it. But it works NOTHING like an “air conditioner!” It doesn’t have a
compressor that transfers heat from one place to another. It simply blows air
over cold water…..that’s it!

I can’t express how EASY it was to install.This unit has been a life savior during the summer and some days during other seasons where it can still be a bit warm at night. In this small place is my friend, a husky, poodle mix and myself. We need AC - lolI don’t use the dehumidifier option - I’m not sure if it will leak in my house, since I did not install the small draining hose that came with it. May look into it late but I don’t worry about much humidity in the apartment.I don’t understand why the negative reviews since all things mentioned, I personally did not find issues with. Cool, can you do a review on those small bug zappers I have a camping trip coming and want to get one of these ACs and a bug zapper so I can be more comfortable
I got one last year but I think they've upgraded since then because the one I saw with pretty much the same commercial (college student allergic to mosquito bites developed portable bug zapper) looks a bit different. But the one I have seems to work fairly well. It definitely won't keep away all the mosquitoes- I live in Florida and take it out with me at night- but absolutely reduces the number that nowhere me. Instead of having 50 or 100 in my face and biting me, maybe a few will get me over 30 minutes or an hour. I took it and sat it next to me while watching fireworks last year in a wooded area- so tons of mosquitoes- got a couple of bites but after going inside saw a bunch of dead ones at the bottom. Also, the bottom flat part doubles as this extremely bright flashlight, helpful for gathering up your stuff in the dark. It was better than our camp latern. If I'm going to be out at night at a BBQ or camping or something, I'll usually take that and my Thermocell and set them around where we're sitting. Between the two, it helps very noticeably. Nothing with ever keep you from getting bitten 100%- after over 40 years in the south, this is what I know. But since the mosquitoes have learned to love the taste of Deep Woods Off, this seems to work fairly well.

Ours arrived broken, probably in transit. I have attempted to get hold of their customer service - 3 emails, 20 mins on hold on the phone. Not impressed with their service so far.
I'm thinking of purchasing one and placing it in front of my fan. Since I dont like the AC that much, but on certain occasions this may come in handy.
I think putting in IN front of a fan would be redundant but might help a little...

I got one. It won't cool a room down though. It does deliver cooler air. I place it about two feet away and direct the flow to my body, and it's acceptable. I'd think of this as more of a personal cooler. The fan is DC. 120v 0.35 amps = 4.2 W. Fill the top chamber with ice and a little bit of water. Soak the cartridge below and freeze it. I'd suggest that the total area of the cartridge be doubled.
Your revised much better, that’s what I want to hear, room temperature. They said cool off your room not just be using as regular self fan. I probably better off with my old fan and just hang a bag of ice at the back of it, it cool off the whole room, but does not last a long time.
@@TonyTony-iw5sf It's not a bad product. They just made it too small. Not enough cooling capacity (BTU/HR). Evaporative coolers work better in drier climates. I think if I was engineering a product like this, I would probably triple the fan size to around 12W. Add two more batteries. Increase the little atomizer jets to six. Increase the cartridge foam volume by six. Looks like the cartridge (when frozen) acts as a "cooling coil" condenser in the end. It remains wet with condensate after it thaws out. But the cartridge produces condensate in more humid climates. It needs a larger condensate tray. You just need to freeze it again. I'd also include a second cartridge as part of the package deal. Maybe even two extra cartridges. Increase the tank size by three. Whether it cools a room depends on the thermal (sensible and latent) loads of the space and the cooling capacity of the unit.

Yeah you can plug it into a power block, I have an Anker one and it just helps extend the power on it. A big power block and keep it going all day. Think of it as an external battery just like it is for your phone
The water spills on the tray while the chillwell is running, and it filled the bottom unit in 30 mins, u have to dry and use the paper towel to absorb the over flowing water in the tray and my table gets wet
Sounds like something is wrong with yours, I don't have water build up anywhere. Sometimes like 1 drop builds up on the vents but never spills out. You should contact support and get their help maybe a replacement

Yeah I would think so, much smaller than my office but you have other outside factors like the sun beating down on your van and no insulation so it definitely gets hotter in your van than it does in my office. I think it would definitely help improve the situation even if it was much hotter in your van.

I’m looking for something to cool down my room in addition to my A/C, not necessary a personal unit that I need to be nearby at all times. My room is always hotter than the rest of the house.
Does this thing work without ice cubes? Will it still cool without water?
You have a similar situation to what I am dealing with. My office is always hotter than the rest of the house because I have a big gaming PC in here with me. its blowing out usually 88-110f heat out the exhaust of the computer and this little ChillWell AC helps keep my space around my computer and work space way cooler. I really think its an improvement to not having it at all.
