Great live version of one of my favorite songs by anyone. His music often ventured into the realm of the spectacular and majestic, such as here. Thank God for His gift of John Denver to those of us who so appreciate him. He was and is a blessing.
John Denver was a REAL MAN, who loved all of God's creations. He has always been my very favorite....if I ever should get stranded on an island with one choice of music....yelp, it would definitely be John Denver. I miss him, but his music will live forever. Thanks for sharing this tribute !
John Denver was my all time favorite singer -songwriter , I miss John every day , we seen John in concert 3 times & his concerts were the BEST. There will never be another JOHN DENVER - THE BEST OF THE BEST.
I never got to see him live but him and his music will always be the best. Aman who loved this earth we live in long before anyone else did. Forever remembered ❤❤
God how i wish i had tunned into this man years ago his song seasons of the heart makes me cry every time not proud cos i am an alfa male well perhaps not any way how i wish he was still here and at a guess even with falling record sales in the 70/80s they would now be back at the fore front because you can not underestimate a man of his talen.t Any way thanks John for all you have done hope you are looking down on us and hope you can see what you have done for a lot of people. For me you are just the best, may God be with you and take you to where ever you would wish to be and i think we all know where that is.!!!! Mountains high !!!!!!!!!!!!!! Cheers Fella..............
Wow, John looked so cute in the 80s.... great video and great song, I love John forever and I thought about him the whole Dec. 31th...... I miss him, thanks for your tribute. (Carolina from Chile)
I have always been a fan of him since he was with the Mitchell trio. I was very young. played guitar because of him. I have most of his published music and unpublished tabs. Now I also play piano, bass, banjo, mandolin, ukelele and some violin. Unfortunately I never saw him live, my family did not have the money. His music lives on. Well respected for what he accomplished.
Thank you Michael..love your video arrangement here. and thank you for joining our group on FB "John Denver Friend List' I will be posting your video on the group :-) ~Marion
I was surprised that John Denver also played mandolin in "John Denver Ballad of St. Anne's Reel" and does John also play mandolin, too, because I thought he only played just guitar, fiddle and piano and why would John Denver play mandolin in "John Denver Ballad of St. Anne's Reel"???

John Denver is not a bulldogger (steer wrestler) and doesn't want to be, because I prefer to think about John Denver to be a great professional rodeo tie-down calf roper, got it???? Does John Denver also really play mandolin, as well, too??? I thought he only just played guitar, fiddle and piano as I thought those were the only three instruments Jon had played but, how did he play mandolin, as well, too??? The song "Blue Suede Shoes" performed by Carl Perkins is actually for steer wrestlers ( bulldoggers) and also, the song "Blue Suede Shoes" performed by Elvis Presley is actually for bull riders (who use their left-hand in the bull-rope) and that's that's what Blue Suede Shoes is all about. I wouldn't recommend Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel to be rodeo people, because folk music is not for cowboys, but John Denver is for cowboys for sure, so again, John Denver is mostly to be a great professional rodeo tie-down calf roper, so, I would also pick George Jones to be a great steer wrestler (bulldogger) and tie-down calf roper, and this is the real true done deal, got it?????
I guess that after Guild dumped John Denver in the mid 1980's (AFTER RCA dumped him also) - he went with Ovation!!!!!!!! I detest Ovation guitars - mainly because the curved back (made of some type of plastic) is near impossible to hold - it slides all over the place!!!!!!!!!! Gimme my old Guild D-40 (6 string - Sunburst) and my Guild FX-212NT (12 string - Natural Top!) and I'm good to go!!!!!!!!

***** Good musicians are good musicians - period - and John Denver was a very good musician!!! He once tuned an RCA studio piano - using only his voice!! I think you could give him ANY stringed instrument and he could make it sound great!!!!! He was also a great fan of "Drop D" tuning on both 6 and 12 string guitars (Tuning the top E string(s) to D). Yep - the boy could play!!!! He was sitting around the house all day - probably getting in Annie's way - collecting million dollar checks - why not learn a new instrument - he had the time and the means!!!!!!!

THIS is music! The garbage put out today has almost no orchestration but listen to this song.........all the work put into it. Great music.
One of John's best. I miss him dearly. All those songs he never got to.
I only got to see him once in concert...the BEST concert I have ever been to. I so miss the music he still had in him to make....
Will love him and his music forever
early 80s before he ditched the glasses, while still married... his voice got even better with age.

Lee Holdridge and the orchestra did a fantastic pairing for this live concert with JD.Just far out as John like to use it in his early years.

They'll soon be teaching Denver in universities.
Absolutely my favorite and I will have a home in the mountains! Thanks for sharing!
"Whispering Jesse" is one...can't think of another, although if you tell I'm sure I'll slap my forehead and say, Oh yeah! Now I remember.

I love this song but the lead guitar improv stuff in the background sounds awful.

@@COWBOYMACLEOD I was at a concert of his and he most certainly played mandolin and fiddle brilliantly!!!
