John Denver was a Gifted musician who ALMIGHTY GOD Truly Blessed with A beautiful Singing Voice, an ability to write profoundly special songs and lyrics that celebrated the love that people have and the amazing and Miraculous Creation by ALMIGHTY GOD of the Earth and its beautiful mountains, rivers oceans and wildlife. John Denver was a Humanitarian who used his time in this Earthly life to also Speak Out and Sing, in Support of World Peace. Thank You, John Denver, Our Brother in CHRIST JESUS.
John you have song songs that have helped me with my struggles they are like hymns sung in church and many should be sung in church: no one is perfect but God loves us : looking forward to seeing you in heaven❤2024
Thank you for posting these videos of John Denver his music and his interviews are easing my mind and soul during these Pandemic times April 2020 I been housebound 🙋♀️🇮🇪❤️
Hi-John wasn't known back in '63, as he replaced Chad Mitchell in '65. He was with the Trio for 3 years. I saw him in '68 when he performed at The Greek Theater, saw him perform at Anaheim, Long Beach, Universal Amphitheter for the last time with my late hubby in Sep '80 the day we got home from our honeymoon. Saw him twice host The Tonight Show in the 70's. I absolutely adored/adore John. He is so missed. His music totally uplifts me.
It is a beautiful song! From Wikipedia: "From a Distance" is a song written in 1985 by American singer-songwriter Julie Gold. Gold was working as a secretary at the time for Home Box Office and writing songs in her free time.[1] Gold's friend, Christine Lavin, introduced the song to Nanci Griffith who first recorded it for her 1987 album, Lone Star State of Mind. It quickly became a favorite of Griffith's fans around the world.
Thank you for posting this. The first song John sings ‘From A Distance’ I wrote in 1970. This is the first time I’ve heard him sing it. Henry John D. was and always will be remembered as a wonderful man and my good friend.
What a beautiful song you wrote. I first heard this when Bush I took us to war. My brother in law served in Desert Storm. Whenever I heard your song, it was as if I was praying to God that others would hear your message and bring peace to the world. John certainly stood for all those principles. Thank you for blessing us with such a beautiful, beautiful song. It is timeless. Peace and blessings to you.
@@RULQQKN1959 From a Distance is credited as written by Julie Gold in 1985 and first recorded by Nanci Griffith in 1987. I searched, and the internet has no record of Marisha MacRae writing or recording the song.
Oh what a great heard when down around Memphis in 98 when Kathy Matea had the album on a Juke Box. It has made my Pearl's of Thunder CD and now DVD-after DVDs being outdated now.
@@bob_._. thank you for your lyric to this song which I discovered long after his death. No doubt John will always be remembered as one of the best; and deservedly so.
@@lindaclark7032 I know we need him now more than ever ! Can you just imagine the songs he would be writing and singing ! He's a part of my spirituality ~ ❤

Julie Gold has stated that she believes in an immanent and beneficent God, and also thinks that people have a right to interpret the song any way they want, as with all art. She has stated that the song is about the difference between how things appear to be and how they really are.

HERE WE ARE IN 2024, AND WE NEED JOHN MORE THAN EVER. THIS MEMORIAL DAY, I AM HAVING A HARD TIME BEING PATRIOTIC LIKE I WANT TO BE BECAUSE OF THE MESS OUR COUNTRY IS CURRENTLY IN. I SURE HOPE AMERICA WILL BE GREAT AGAIN AND A COUNTRY TO BE PROUD OF, BUT THAT WILL NEVER HAPPEN WITH THE EVIL THAT IS TRYING TO BE PRESIDENT. AS I LISTEN TO JOHN DENVER TODAY, I CAN ONLY IMAGINE HIS REACTION TO WHAT IS HAPPENING
gypsylove553 it was written by Julie Gold, then apparently first recorded by Nanci Griffith on her Lone Star State of Mind album, before Bette Midler’s rendition has a big hit with it herself.

This is so cool. John had such a lovely voice.
기타 없이 노래만 하시는 존 덴버 모습을 첨 봅니다. 존은 늘 우리 맘 속에 있습니다. 나의 청소년 시절을 풍요롭게 해 준 존 덴버를 영원히 기억합니다.

John honored the troops before the fashions made it the right thing to our troops and our country.
Why do I only remember the BETTE MIDLER version.
More video from the same concert. Includes John singing the National Anthem and God Bless the USA...
