It's the segment where we challenge our favorite Yu-Gi-Oh deck builder to summon a seemingly impossible monster. This time, Calvin has a new monster to overcome: the Perfectly Ultimate Great Moth, used by Weevil Underwood in Duel Monsters. It requires a very long and difficult task to summon properly, and he's only got 10 turns to do it. If he fails, Calvin has to wear the loser shirt to another local tournament. This monster might be the hardest one yet, but if there's anyone who can do it, I think Calvin can.

Simple. Take the card and throw it out of the window. Seriously tho... You can only use many draw cards and still need to be able to negate attacks and negate destructions. Thats way too hard to do
i assume that Cocoon of Ultra Evolution is banned for this challenge
I expect parasite paranoid is banned too
Heart of Clear Water and Mist Body make petite moth indestructable by battle. They can be searched with Gearbreed, Hidden Armory, and Armory Call. Giant Rat is another battle searcher, maybe some generic draw spells like Upstart, Duality, (Extrav or Prosperity if you wanna break the bank). Unexpected Dai, Painful Decision, and One for One are also ways to get to petit moth, Sangan can search either half of the ""combo"", and Witch of the Black Forest is another way to find cocoon. Monster Reincarnation makes it less punishing if you have to set a Cocoon. As for Perfectly Ultimate... Resonance Insect I guess? Honestly thats the hard part.

Doesn't Zushin take 10 turns to summon to begin with? Or was that just it's anime effect?
@@DrJay1234 kinda. It requires you to use Zushin counters to place it on one lvl 1 normal monster. And the placement of said counters is a once per turn clause.
@@scarlightemperor3410 the useful thing about Zushin is that if you have multiple copies you can stack up counters a lot faster
My mind is screaming "Cocoon of Ultra Evolution" because I am running a casual Insect Deck with Perfectly Ultimate Great Moth in my Deck as a target for it and somehow my one-off Moth always shows up in my hand...

The best deck to get that monster on the board would be a beetrooper/battlewasp deck with parasite paranoid and cocoon of ultra evolution

Ok I'm going to blow your mind, ready? Ok:
Block Spider + Ultimately Mutated Insect Queen forces your opponent to use a Kaiju to break your board. Use resonance insect to get Block Spiders in play.
Using the Bamboo Sword Engine gives you plenty of equips for Cocoon of Ultra Evolution, as well as draw power with golden bamboo sword and stun with Burning Bamboo Sword. Cursed Bamboo Sword also searches a Bamboo Sword card if you choose to Cocoon the equipped monster.
Ectoplasmer makes it hard for your opponent to make boards, while you are content tributing Insect Monster Tokens, though this is the least important part of the deck and I'd understand if this is cut.
CALVIN DESERVES REDEMPTION. Let rematches happen! You could do a replacement shirt like "I'm great at YGO!*" and the asterisk on the back of the shirt reads "Eventually..."
Parasite Paranoid if it's equip to a monster and it's sent to the graveyard you can special summon 1 level 5 or higher insect type monster, ignoring its summoning condition
Level 7, but yeah.

You can also use cocoon of ultra evolution

Honestly just run Bee trooper get resonance insect search for the great moth then get parasite paranoid equip to a monster get that monster in grave and boom you have summoned great moth
If you don't draw the resonance insect or parasite paranoid you just need to use the inzektor link equip it from deck ultimate great moths super easy to summon in modern yugioh
i thought of that immediately, along with cocoon of ultra evolution, but my assumption for this challenge is either they don't know about it or they banned both of them, forcing him to go the bad way because like all good friends they wanna make it as difficult as possible and make fun of him.
Crazy, For this series to even be possible Team APS must have a massively huge collection of Yu-Gi-Oh cards
I think a decent alternative is to allow for them to use proxy decks while the protagonist always has the same proxy deck but at a low level of power. That way Calvin can always have a better chance while Alec has a consistent deck as well.
Cocoon of Ultra Evolution is a staple in turboing out Perfectly Ultimate Moth in DL for most meme Inzector Decks
Yeah, just about to say that inzektors with cocoon of ultra evolution makes this challenge a joke. Also parasite paranoid, both ignore summoning conditions

@@megabladechronicles962 Paranoid Parasite works too. And it let's you use an opponents monster to activate cocoon of ultra evolution, so you could get two beat sticks on the field quick.

Here's a drinking game to send a comment reader to the hospital: take a shot every time the card "Cocoon of Ultra Evolution" gets suggested in the comments for this deck without any hint that Calvin already knew about it and wanted to follow the spirit of the challenge instead of just the letter of the law.
Perfectly Ultimate Great Moth! That's one of the strongest cards in all of duel monsters!
With the special effect to rain a poisonous mist on the field which decreases the attack of your opponents monsters each turn.

i have a suggestion for the next monster. have 5 turns to summon Sophia the goddess of rebirth involving banishing a ritual, synchro, xyz, and fusion monster from the field to summon. i want to see this be done. if anyone can do it, it's calvin

I tried making Sophia Turbo with Salamangreats not too long ago and it wasn’t impossible but it took a bit longer than five turns
There’s probably a better way to do it but Salamangreats have three out of four of the required monster types in their archetype so I just went for it

You can technically cheese it out inside 1 or 2 turns.
There's only one semi-reliable way to even use it. Cocoon of Ultra Evolution.

This should be a summon the monster in 2 out of 3 duels. And especially considering hard to summon cards that take multiple turns to bring out the turn limit should not be used.
During the cyber strike structure deck tourney we had a small side bet going on to see who would be the first to summon the cyberdark end dragon.
yeah, also because out of some mistakes, he could learn new strategies on how to summon it and it may be interesting to see
I love my insect deck cuz Parasite Paranoid and Coccoon of Ultra Evolution make it possible to pull out like 2 boss monsters while taking out one of the opponent's. That is probably my favorite deck and I was completely hype for Beetroopers when they dropped
Run the traptrix insect xyz it allows you to also take the opponents monster when you tribute it for cocoon

Spirit of the Pharaoh would be awesome to see, it is my favorite card even though its summoning condition is possibly one if not the worst in the game.

Dread Master isn't hard to summon, and clock tower prison isn't required to summon him its an option to do to destroy your opponents monster field

I won't lie, I was sitting here waiting for Calvin to realize the parasite and ultra evolution cards. Though, I will say, I am a bit happy he tried something else.

I would recommend exodia necross as a summon challenge. Having all pieces is challenging enough, but the stages to summon necross require timing and precision.
With some modern support and exodia based modern cards it's actually not as hard as it used to be albeit not really worth it still.
There's a way to use exodia boss monsters to send exodia pieces to the Graveyard every turn. And ways to send all copies of specific cards in deck to graveyard or banished status and then ways to get them back out. Just leave out the getting it back unless it's banished to graveyard.
However the boss monsters are better then necross.

I love this series! And the moth cards too! They are part of the childhood of a lot of duelists here in Brazil because in the dub of the anime, the studio messed up "moth" with "mouth"... so Weevil keeps saying that he will summon "his big mouth" all the time 🤣🤣 Awesome video, guys!

Maybe a little cocky but Calvin has my respect for attempting to summon it using its own summon condition and not with Cocoon of Ultra Evolution or some other cheese card.
Venominaga or spirit of the pharaoh could be fun. They probably won't be too tough to bring out against a structure deck, assuming you can get the traps into your hand somehow.

You don't even need that paracite paranoid plus resonance insect and 2 insect extender does the job
My first instinct woulda been an Inzektor build with a way to get to Cocoon of Ultra Evolution. Set that up and boom, P.U.G.M. in possibly less than 5 turns.
You can do it in 2 turns if you do beetrooper resonance insect and paracite paranoid if you open with 1 or the other you can do it 1 turn but if you dont draw either of the cards takes 2 turns

Even if Cocoon of ultra evolution would have made this easier, it wasn't outright banned, at least nowhere I could see in the video, so I don't see why Calvin didn't use it. Would have been child's play.

Just started Lets playing Legagy of the Duelist and Weevil summoned Perfectly Ultimate Great Moth with a Cocoon of Ultra Evolution ignoring the Petit Moth condition.
This is not a challenge anymore! Just play Insektors with Cocoon of Ultra Evolution! (Or whatever that card was called)
Also can be done with resonance insect parasite paranoid and 2 insect exstenders
That fact that someone in Arc V managed to summon it, is an achievement itself.

Not to be a stickler for details, but Paul said that PUGM was used in Duelist Kingdom. I'm probably wrong (and please correct me if I am!), Weevil uses PUGM in Battle City during his duel against Joey. Weevil uses Great Moth in Duelist Kingdom against Yugi.
Again, not to be a stickler about small stuff like that but if anyone was curious, there you go! Great video, guys! Definitely made the work day much easier to get by! ♥️
PS: PUGM is harder to summon in Duel Links than it is in a real duel. (Please correct me if I am wrong, again!)
I’m seeing a lot of comments about cocoon of ultra evolution. I think the point of this episode was to see if Calvin could summon our moth boi the original way.
Used to play yugi waaay back...last pack was the one where vampire lord was in secrete rare. Loved the game!!! Though i love watching you guys videos. Keep it up its great!!!
That opening from the anime just reminds me how easily the characters could’ve gotten out of difficult situations if they just played something like Raigeki or MST.
There are cards like Exodia that are bad because of the ban list making the strategies you’d want to use for them unplayable, then you have cards like Great Moth that are just dead on arrival. Cocoon of Ultra Evolution helps a lot, but it also says a lot when a card needs support that was released later to even become viable.
Trying to summon Perfectly Ultimate Great Moth legitimately? You're far braver than I am!
QOTD: Master of Oz, Great Maju Garzett with at least 8,000 Attack Points, VWXYZ -Dragon Catapult Cannon, Rainbow Dragon, Elemental Hero Chaos Neos, Armityle the Chaos Phantom and use effect to win, Exodius the Ultimate Forbidden One and win by using its effect, Vennominga the Deity of Poisonous Snakes and win with her effect. The card puns in that ad spot have my face frozen in a permanent cringe. I have to go to work like this now.
Before the toon deck released, perfectly ultimate great moth was the backbone of my deck. I used a lot cards with high defense and magic/trap cards that prevented my opponents from attacking me or they boosted my cards defense. Once I had it summoned, it was unbeatable in a head to head battle. By the way, I like the shirt but Joey beat Marik fair and square, he was the best natural duelist in the entire anime.

I would have used Parasite 3 Paranoid and 3 Cacoon of Ultra Evolution. but If I was not allowed to use that, then I definitely would stock on Supply Squad (Draw Power), the Battle Insects (Special Summoning and adding), Verdent Sanctuary (adding and stacking cause if multiple are on the field it deck thins so fast), Pinpoint Guard (For Defense and stalling) and Michizure (Spot Removal WHEN plans do go south)
Just play until Calvin hits 0 life points. Don’t put a turn limit on it. The cards y’all want him to try to summon were hard to bring out back when they were released. It’s infinitely harder with modern Yugioh.
Another good duel challenge would be trying to win with Aitsu and all its support.
This just proves how unpopular bug cards have been by how few extra bug cards the boys had in their storage boxes. Can the next video be D.D. Jet Iron?
I know this list is mostly common. But I guess one of the issues is searching through cards.
Maybe add if you win in say like half the turns it still win. Idk is a fun challenge.

Ooo, here's a great challenge for Calvin, try to achieve either the F.A. or Spiral win conditions. Preferably the Spiral one as that seems more fun

2) Win using "Destiny Board"
3) Win using "Final Countdown"
4) Win using Venominaga's Win Condition
5) Successfully activate Fu-Rin-Ka-Zan each duel and win a match

Would love more of this series. Maybe you could allow more turns to complete the task but Alec isn't allowed to know what the deck boss is and if he guesses it then you lose a few turns.
Id like to see a duel where the challenge is to win with Sparks or some crappy burn card, or inflict lethal damage with a vanilla 0 original atk monster.

I was thinking this would be an easy challenge especially since there was no rule that Ultimately had to be summoned by it's own effect and there is a card that can easily make this work, but then as the deck was being built I came to the realization that nobody remembered Cocoon of Ultra Evolution, but glad to hear that wasn't the case and Calvin was trying to rough it by doing the six turns.
For the next Challenge I say Mirage Knight or Zushin the Sleeping Giant would be fun to see.
Timaeus the Knight of Destiny would seem like 1 hell of a fun thing to see happen
Holactie, Creator God of Light would be a fun one. You'd need an OCG copy since it never released outside of Japan, but it's definitely a pain to summon.

Cacoon of evolution along with the worm monster needed. If you want full odds of drawing them, that's already 9 cards.
I used to make decks to outlast, max number of cards in it, defense high creatures...then I decided to mix it up. I went with minimum amount of cards, the monsters were mainly effect ones, and the traps and spells were an even 10 to 10 mix. I used effects more and found I didn't win by default as much, and I dis actually lose more than the other deck style, but I had fun more often
I love seeing this series come back can't wait to see more. Cal is sweet at deck building.

Here's a challenge for ya! Summon Dystopia the Despondent!
Before the XYZ Dinosaur was summoned he had Cocoon of Evoltuion in his hand and could of easily equipped it to Petit Moth when it was originally summoned and left in defense mode at least for a couple turns before he summoned Utopia.
