Indeed. He successfully splits the middle, telling her what she did was a noble act (whether he agrees with it or not) while simultaneously pointing out the undeniable fact that it blew up in her face. Nominal support while convincing her to look at the issue from a different perspective. Dude should be an ambassador.
It’s not random. He Is upset and wants to sit down. It’s a nice catch of a persons inner feelings in conflict. Fighting is exhausting. Being old is too. You want to sit when trying to focus
i think that Lorry might actually be more like her grandma.. kinda pity we didn´t get to know grandma Lorelai.. i bet we´d laugh even more.. and they would both piss off Emily nicely to no ends..XD
@@char4980 Trix is their grandma, Lorry is mother and Rory is her daughter.. or do i have it all these years wrong? is it Lori or Lory?.. it wouldn't make sense from my POV..
At some point when your kid has had her own kid and been taking care of the kid and herself for years, doing a darn good job, you shouldn't be doing things "for their own good". This was not a situation where anyone was a danger to themselves or others, this was Emily wanting a " picture perfect family " which is HER definition of good.
Regarding Kelly Bishop, what a truly wonderful and versatile actress. She dominates every scene that she’s in, and can play portray every emotion so well. Regarding Emily, I think she got off lightly in season 5. Trying to break up her adult daughter’s happy relationship and push her towards a guy that she didn’t even like herself (she said so directly), largely because of his background and precious Hayden family name, was terrible and despicable.
It just shows how important status is to Emily. She only approved of Logan because he was a Huntzberger. She didn't like his family at all, after she realized they looked down on Rory; yet, she still wanted Rory and Logan together.
@RyokoLeigh I agree. I actually think this scene proves she got her sense of humor from not only Emily but Richard too (although we tend to see Richard's more). They banter with each other like she banters with them--I love it.
At one point I do agree that some of Emily's actions really are her own mess, however she is right to feel like the heavy while he gets to be the Disneyland Dad. She has to get the trains running on time.
Ya Emily could really be a hypocrite sometimes. Especially when the reason she wanted break them up was because of Christopher of all people. The man who could never really get act together for years & then when he did it was too late.
@FashionistoIRE but thats normal, parents always feel they know best for their children, especially given how stubborn they can be, very much so in the case of Emily and Richard
*“Why haven’t we gotten stools in here!?”* Gosh I love that line. 😂
LOLOL- it's one of the best!
Yeah, it is a good one
Was that an adlib or was it part of the script?
@@qs4177 I think it was scripted, sounds like a classic brilliant Amy Palladino script moment :)
Love the way he diffused the situation and handled Emily without invalidating her.
Agree

The way she aggressively snips those flowers is hilarious.
I so love Emily for this scene. It makes her more of a well rounded character to know that Lorelei got her sense of humor from her uptight mother.
Throwing in random lines like the stools is why Gilmore Girls was so great!
Very real

Richard fighting but still insurance nerding out is so adorbale
If Emily took a step back once in a while and realized just how much she's like her daughter....
.....she would probably throw herself off a cliff.
Both of them

Richard is a master Strategist!
Whenever I see Emily, I'm always reminded of the first lines in Pink Floyd's first hit: "Emily tries, but misunderstands..."
All in all it's just another brick in the wall between her and Lorelai.
and lorelai thinks she is nothing like her parents...riiiiiight:)
How is she like her parents
She isnt
rip Edward herrman aka Richard Gilmore we miss u lol the flower line is great 0:16
Thank you for uploading this! "That flower just had it coming"! Ha-ha. Hilarious moment.
CUZ YOU'RE THE FAVORITE! God I laughed...
exactly.. I sprayed the screen with noodle soup cuz I didn´t expect it at the end.. that grimace "cuz yer´the favourite".. i laughed my lungs out..XD
She acted so immature its not wonder Lorelai ran away

Emily needs her own show lol
I love scenes between these two, Emily's always so funny.:):):)
This is like my grandma, and grandpa when they argue. the similarities are immaculate
of course you do coz your the favourite!
luv it.
Why haven't we got any stools in here!!!
how clandestine can it be? i just told u!
lol
Emily really did love her daughter, she's wasn't perfect. She really just wanted to be a part if her daughter life.
she would be aparr of Lorelai life if she wasn't so controlling or manipulative.
Emily's manners somehow remind me of Sheldon Cooper
Nah I'm thinking Mary Cooper
I hated her so much for that.... especially after what his mother Trix, did to Emily... she should have known better

Underneath all the money and status, Emily Gilmore was just a regular mom.
You guys know that if the roles were reversed Richard wouldn't care and Emily would be happy that she is the favorite
I love you Emily & Richard you two are so funny. Emily you are so funny
That last line...
Emily will always be my favorite character
Emily is so like a child
Yeah, her behavor is really chidish here.
Her behavior though out the show is childish
Why haven’t we gotten stools in here?
Wow. I'm Emily, and my husband, Richard.
Richard is the favorite because he’s not an obnoxious know it all like Emily.
hee..Emily!!
Emiiy's Rory voice is hilarious :)
where is this scene from? i love it!
The Gilmore Girls
Why did you title it “Emily the 6 year old”?
I thought it was more that they loved to hate each other.
I've always wondered...why did she cut the flowers so short???
This scene is HILARIOUS! Haha Emily!
Know Emily you a so funny I love you so special to me you & me have a so much in common together I have a thing for you Emily
Richard needs Stools!!!
