I’d given up because I thought I just didn’t have the right voice for this stuff and I haven’t really sung for a month, but when I pressed play on this video I just started singing along and it clicked!! It’s just my voice, I just have this kind of voice, I can’t do it because bla bla bla…… without sounding rude! But it’s really important when coaching to dismiss these claims as quickly as possible. We all have the same mechanism, we just have to break down the habits our body has created when we sing. That journey is different. But the tools are virtually the same. Your experience makes sense as folks can often suddenly have a breakthrough when they have stopped for a bit, or stopped thinking so much or stopped trying , somehow it just comes out ! So, watch out for habits creeping back in, don’t go back to how you used to sing - Tip- your muscle memory will start to go back to habits, The voice is a moving target. So, keep it light, keep noticing what you feel, recognise the stuff that was making it more tense before, Keep it up but keep it super light !
