      Last time I rented a wood chipper for a day it cost $100. Features included a diesel engine and a 6” diameter branch capacity

    Good demonstration, I've been considering this model; I have about 0.5 acres and I agree, no point in getting a more expensive model.

    I appreciate the honest review from a man that gets it. Clearly not trying to under or oversell it and just lays the facts down of its capabilities. With that being said i have a decent collection of sunjoe products knowing they appear to be made like garbage but yet they still perform quite well for me. My 2200psi powerwasher is on its 4th-year now and ive abused it as if it was a commercial unit. Powerwashed my entire home (2 story) over the course of 2 days including the sidewalk, driveway, deck, gutters, siding. Powerwashed countless vehicles, and even in slightly above freezing weather to knockoff salt from the undercarriage. I even used it to aid in stripping bark off a cedar tree i cut down to make an epoxy bench. The surface cleaner works for it but i find it to be slower. I have a 18" chainsaw that has plenty of power to cut some decent 12"+ logs up and thats on its 4th year and still kicking. I recently bought a pole saw and am excited to try that out. Now im eyeing up this lil shredder as a light duty cleanup tool. I have 1.2 acres and a ton of underbrush to remove and i think this could help with that. I have some bigger trees that need to be removed and i understand this wont be big enough but im ok with that. Im not rich and like saving a buck when i can but till i can afford a nicer unit ill make due with what i have. Again thanks for the review it helps more than you know.

      Thanks man. Yeah I hear you, I would love to have a more powerful gas powered unit too, but the sun Joe unit was cheap and got the job I needed done.

    Hello. I noticed all limbs are straight and no leaves . I have a type of oak tree with limbs that have smaller limbs and leaves attached . I wonder if i will have to strip all the small branches and leaves off first. I wonder if it breaks within the 2 year period if they make you ship the old unit back first. Is there any maintenance that you know of like oiling or sharpening blades? Thanks so much for your advice

    • @LucasBuysFood

      This unit clogs up with leaves and pine needles. Works best with wood that is dead.

    My problem is that when I considered a gas, 3 inch one, most comments on EVERY $600.00 unit said that it really only works at up to 2 inches...so I ordered this one since it was only 199.99.

    • @LucasBuysFood
      @LucasBuysFood  2 года назад +1

      Yeah, everything over 2 inches ends up being fire wood.

    Thanks for the video! I just got this unit. Do you feel it only chips out dried branches versus wet/green wood?

    • @LucasBuysFood
      @LucasBuysFood  3 года назад +1

      Leaves usually clog it up. It’s really helpful to chip green wood with some dried stuff mixed in.

      @@LucasBuysFood If it helps, I've had mine for about 5 years. I haven't used it for the last 3 years. Gathering dust in my shed. Decided to give it a re-try today and changed the blades. I found it quite slow and finicky. Doesn't like even the slightest wet wood or flimsy twigs. And yes, leaves will clog it up very quickly so be careful to remove any leaves from branches before chipping.

    • @LucasBuysFood
      @LucasBuysFood  3 года назад +1

      @@priayief yeah it's a lot of work to chip wood with this unit, good for a light cleanup in a residential neighborhood where you're unable to burn and don't want to invest in a larger unit.

    Sad part is that there is really no in-between option. Its either this $159 unit or a $600 unit unless you can find a used one. Unfortunately for me in Florida we have huge 15 foot palm frons with thick 4"+ at the base, so I am going with a gas chipper. thanks for the review

    Think I'll just save the money by just burning my limbs. I can't find any videos that demonstrate these machines on green Leland cypress limbs. I'm allowed to burn brush piles in my area.

    The motors go out after about 3 years.. even faster of you dont open it up , and blow out the crap that the vents suck in ..just saying buy an exteded 5 yr replacement warranty from Sunjoe is all, and keep "all" the pruchase info. , becuse the people in customer service overseas will lie like hell as to try and deny your warranty and hope you go just away... They stalled me for 6 months saying they had no replacemets until I learned otherwise... Why? you may ask,.. because it's their job to screw you.
