Thanks for the review. Your video answered by questions about the Sun Joe CJ602E. I have been trying to figure out how to manage the brush in my yard. While a gas chipper is too large for my suburban lot, I wasn't sure if an electric chipper would be powerful enough to suit my needs. Your description and demonstration of the unit were just what I needed. It was especially helpful to see how it handled different brush and what causes, and how to take care of, a jamb. Thanks again!
Thank you so much for this video! I have to maintain my 1/3 acre property and I bought one of these and am just using it for the first time today. Thanks to your excellent vid, I have confidence that I'll do just fine!
Thanks for the review. I purchased this the other day and have used it chip up thorny briars to make it easy to dispose of. I have put a 3 gallon bucket that under the exit chute then when the bucket is full easily dump into a trash bag.
I wouldn't worry about a hook for the paddle. The paddle is useless. Save some straight sticks for when you need to help leaves and thin branches through. Best review I've seen of the machine though. Can't stress enough the need for good gloves and eye protection.
On Amazon, the specs indicate the noise level is 113 decibels (dB), so use hearing protection because that is 23 dB greater than the safe level of 90 dB above which hearing damage can occur
These wood chippers are beasts. Extremely powerful, rugged, and super FAST! Mine made mincemeat out of a pile of limbs the size of a small car in no time.
I have one and love it. The only time it got stopped up I was running some dead Chrysanthemums through it. Normally I can run dead flowering plants through it but these had dried sort of spongy leaves and it stopped up. Normally when cutting 1/4 inch branches they come out three or four inches long and are small enough to use anyway. But this soft stuff just doesn’t pass through. I wasn’t aware it the way to open it so I unplugged it and cleaned it out with my hand from underneath. It wasn’t difficult at all. I have lots of bushes and trees that need pruning and it does the job for me.
i bought this and the sunjoe leaf mulcher and although i like the mulch the chipper not so much unless you have pretty much twigs. i finally bought a gas chipper.
Straight out of the box it would run for about ten seconds then die. I put it away and said I'll figure it out later. Two years later it does the exact same thing, I never got to put any more than like 4 sticks through it.. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated
I see a lot of reviews for these items but I have never seen one that answers whether or not the unit will handle dried ornamental grasses? I have some huge ones and they are a challenge to cut back and get rid of the cuttings. Will this handle them?
I have found that the blades are reversable with cutting edge on both sides. I got tired of the slow rate of feed and modified the blades a bit and turned the chipper into a real monster. Much faster feed rate but I have to be careful feeding large branches as it will pull them in too fast.
How did you reverse them? I've had mine for several years now and do like it. But recently it started cutting poorly, so I thought maybe the blades were getting dull and I don't know what to do about it.
@@perryrose8843 - Thanks. About the time you were answering I already took it apart and found what you were talking about. I was able to unscrew them (good thing I had the right tools) and flip the blades. I am going to give it a try in a while and see if that makes a difference. I've been cutting up some huge tree branches that came down during some big storms the past few months. I can't do too much because of a bad wrist, but my chipper has done well for the past few years.
@@perryrose8843 - Well, I went out there and tried it on a medium sized stick and a thin one (where it was just sucking them through and not cutting them up), and it did very well! Thanks, because I wouldn't have known you could do that if you hadn't mentioned it. : )
Many years ago in Connecticut an SAS airline pilot put his frozen stewardess wife through a chipper. Cops found bone fragments in a river bank. So the answer to your question is "yes" but not small enough to escape justice.
@@perryrose8843 - I think he used a professional chipper, though. This one might do chicken bones. I hadn't thought about doing that with animal bones.
I am totally pissed. Purchased Sun Joe CJ602E 15-Amp Electric Wood Chipper Shredder last week from Amazon. Wheels, no axel. Called Sun Joe and was told they would send the axel. Axel arrived today. When I went to assemble the axel, it would not fit. Turns out that the axel holes in the base are drilled prior to bending the tube. When the tube is bent, the hole is knocked out of round just enough that the axel will not fit. The only way I can fix it is with either a rat tail file or a drill, neither of which I do not have. Sun Joe needs to check the parts prior to shipping which apparently they do not. Had the part(s) been checked and dry fitted prior to shipping, assembly issue(s) as this would be caught and corrected. This is the result of poor inspection and quality control. Now I have to call customer service tomorrow (they close at 2000hrs. {8 pm). I want to talk to the engineering department about the problem. You do not drill holes where the pipe will be bent prior to bending the pipe as the diameter of the hole will be altered, in this case, axel hole out of round. .
I am afraid those wood chips would attract termites. I like your video though. I have had pretty good luck with sunjoe products too. I may order this today.
States it will chip up to 1.5” branches but the one that jammed it was looking to be only 1”. Everything else was small twigs and little sticks. Not very reassuring.

Excellent review, thanks! One thing I might recommend is some hearing protection. It doesn't seem _too_ loud, but better to be safe!

Nice, is it still good !
Great video! Thank you. Even the info at the end about the replacement blade is a bonus!

that electric cord hookup. brilliant
Thanks for the review glad I looked At first way to small not buying waiting till future to see if they come out better
I really enjoy your presentation.
Thank you for the video it looks perfect for what I need to do.

In general, they will not slice up soft thinks like reeds, leaves and very fine twigs. They pass them through with minor damage.
Yhank you for the info. Very helpful!
ordering 1 after you you tube!!!!!!! thank you
Useful video. Thanks!
Very well done and informative, thank you!

far as a hanger for the paddle, you can get a screw in hook for cheap and screw that into the cover housing to hang the paddle from

Great 👌 job. Thank you
How well has this machine worked for you after 2, almost 3 years?
I still use it. I haven't had any problems so far. Knock wood.
Great video, thanks for doing the video.
Could you dispose of boxes of documents?
They are called shredders. Right tool.
Theoretically you can also try to dispose of a body. I heard.
great review.
Nice job on the review. Thanks
nice job, keep it up
Will I shred cardboard?
Yeah the electric wood chipper can shred cardboard but it could make the blades on the wood chipper go Dull
Doesn’t like maintaining gasoline engines. Smart giy
Thanks for information
What a great review
Might get this wait till it goes down in price

Wow! That's awful

Does anyone else see a face on that machine at 3:51?
Good eye👍
Definitely
It's the face of the man he put thru the wood chipper
Machine works and you're literally shoving the branches in hahaha

I find that diameter of the wood depends on how dense the wood is.
It will take 1.5 inch branches of live oak but you have to feed it in slowly. @@magic76767676
speaking of landfill...after 2 years I cant remove dull chipper blades and this unit is worthless. dont buy.
stop buying things on amazon !!
tell me you are a liberal without telling me you are a liberal.
