This is a homemade lowcost pantograph plasma cutter, based on the toy which is used to copy by manually tracing the outline of the original master. Using the same techique you simply trace around the edge of your pattern. Since the plasma arc does not create no more drag than a pen operation is simple. I modified the plasma by adding a foot pedal to start the arc.

HAHA did I inspire this??? I had such a hard time maintaning a steady cut speed I was never as happy as I would have liked. but it did work. I was planning a redesign using aluminum arms to reduce the mass and roller bearings. I also was trying to figure out how to construct a motorized stylus for steady cut speed.
I bought plastic for sale signs for easy to cut out patterns.
I too added a foot pedal switch, basically a doorbell button screwed to a board. lol
