    • @loverlyme
      @loverlyme 3 года назад +5

      I was thinking the same. If you sew over the metal your machine needles will become blunt too soon. Worse than that, the needle might snap off resulting with the rare but possible event of finding the metal lodged in an eye.

    • @druv1950
      @druv1950 2 года назад +2

      I agree. Always remove the pin as you come to it. Easily breaks needles.

    • @dianaf2820
      @dianaf2820 2 года назад

      Don’t get into the bad habit of sewing over pins. It’s bad for the machine and bad for the needle. It can dull or deform the needle causing visual pulls in the fabric as you sew. Thankfully, I’ve never had a needle break and land in an eye because a broken needle eye (and its point) holds onto the thread.

    Hey Drew, I LOOOOVE the outcome, it feels like the urban cottagecore bathroom of my dreams :D Just friendly advice though, if the plant you placed in your shower is a real living plant, I highly recommend swapping it out for something else, seeing as Hoyas (which is what this plant appears to be), like to be DRY AF, so being in a high humidity space might be its downfall ^^' You would be better served with a sturdy Pothos plant, like a Marble or Snow Queen, or a Pearls and Jade or N'Joy, if you're looking for something more unique!
    As for my favorite part, I LOVE the touch of the little golden vintage frame above the toilet! It's so cute and totally pops with the green color of the board and baton!

    • @Quaquelly
      @Quaquelly 3 года назад +1

      It’s always a good idea to ask your landlord if they allow you to do any permanent changes like adding board and batten. Every landlord is different so you might have a very chill one that will agree and you wont have to remove it but you also have some that arent very permissive. So just ask! 😌

    • @lseh
      @lseh 3 года назад +10

      I’m also curious what his landlord expects him to do when he moves. I know he has always gotten permission from his landlord and his landlord has said he can do pretty much whatever he wants (I assume with limitations like the new bathroom cabinets) so I’d be shocked if the landlord expects him to revert back to original as he has brought so much value to the space for any future tenants. I could see him maybe painting everything white and remove wallpaper and stick n tile but to remove board and Batten seems like a big ask, IMO.

    • @boucephales

      @@lseh my bro and sis in law were told they could upgrade some things and then the landlord said that when the time comes, they might be able to “work out a deal” to leave the upgraded items which to me just sounds sketchy. I can't believe your Landlord let you paint in such a dark shade and do board and batten. Very nice creative makeover wow nice touches added as well. The paint was amazing but way to dark for me. My fav thing was your d.i.y blinds they came out really nice. I also really liked the🪞and flooring. Of cause the board and batten was stunning. Well done a supercute 🛁 room makeover.👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽

    I appreciate that you shop at moderate retail stores like Target and World Market. Great Style at a reasonable cost. One painting tip: paint departments sell plastic pour lips that clip onto the can. They only cost a few dollars and makes transferring paint so much tidier. Then you clean it and use again.

      I moved into a house with sticky tiles in the hall bath and they were disgusting, they had mildewed and the entire bath, hall, and kitchen smelled horrible, and left gross residue all over the underneath flooring. I won't ever use sticky tiles after that experience, kinda grosses me out.

      You can if you are using extra thin pins (we use those in couture). But definitely should not do it if you are using common pins (for example those with coloured ball ends)

      He should try to decorate the rest of his properties with this tips 😜

    Eeekkkk please don’t sew over your pins! Though most of the time you will be fine, there will eventually be that one where you will hit one perfectly & shatter your sewing machine needle & possible break other bits of your machine. I know this from personal experience 😰
    Just pause, remove the pin & continue sewing 👍

    Great job! The Roman Shades are just perfect, elegant & functional! Nice! I feel the board & baton installation combined with the dark green paint & the cool mirrors really do transform the space! I would love to see you put real plants in your bathroom! Plants really like the humidity of a bathroom and you have soo much beautiful light along with easy access to water for weekly watering. Try a Sansevieria, aka snake plant, and a little fern. You won’t have to work hard and your plants will thrive! Nonetheless, I think you killed it on this project! Glad your Landlord lets you do these cool design updates in your apartment! Enjoy your well deserved bath!

    Wow - love it! Picking a fave part is hard - maybe use of two gorgeous mirrors. I've never seen double vanities opposite each other (only side-by-side), and you highlighted them beautifully w/the mirrors you chose. I also love all the unique additions of texture (rattan cabinet hardware?! Whaaaaaat!!?) And I love how I always learn good DIY tips from your vids - like taping off w/paper towels so you can spray paint inside. Thank you - this is great.
