Lovely to see this as a Knavesmire Harrier who was on the drinks station. Great to see runners enjoying our annual event. What event up Billingham way would you recommend?
Ah, great to hear from you! Thanks for volunteering! Believe it or not, I’ve not ran many, if any, events in Teesside since starting the channel! I have the Middlesbrough half this weekend though!
Great video. Might try and give that one a go next year. Good luck with the marathon training. I ran Manchester last year. Was tough going though it hasn’t put me off running another in the future. In the meantime looking forward to Druridge Bay 10k at the weekend.
Great question! I’m not sure to be honest… sub-5 maybe?! It really depends how much work I put in. This weekend was great but I’ve got to build on it. I have a tendency just to wing it! Might not work with a marathon though!
Fab vid as always! Solid graft anarl considering you’d done a 10k the day before! Pleased I managed to see you although very briefly 😂 so what rating in the pepper scale are we giving this one. From Bell to Pepper X?
Haha, I find Brass Monkey to be harder than it first appears. What pepper seems okay then has a kick to it? And is pepper X a real thing?! I’ll save that comparison for when I do the winter Spine!
Aye it defo gets spicier towards the end! I’m not sure on which pepper. I thought you’d have that knowledge! Yeah Pepper X is a thing but must admit I had to google it!
Great video Al. Brilliant insight into the inner monologue that we go through whilst suffering during endurance events. Looked a tough shift. Thanks for sharing mate 🙏
Mint vid, well done Al and co. Really hope to give this one a go next year! Saw you at Newcastle 10k start. Think you beat me by 20 seconds too haha. Good running, keep it up.
Well done. Spotted myself in the video 😃 I did ask you the name of your channel but forgot it once I crossed the line. 😒 I did remember you uploaded on a Tuesday though. New Sub😊
Thank you for subscribing mate! Really appreciate it. This one is almost one of those cult classics. Has a great atmosphere despite the route being sort of ‘ordinary’ in some ways - which I don’t mean to be a bad thing! It sells out every year and is definitely one to tick off your list.
Great effort - especially on the back of a 10k. The event looked a good one and I can’t wait to see the marathon video and all the content beforehand. Keep up the fab work!
fabulous video Al, thanks for taking us along with your pain journey! I can't believe you did a 10k and then the day after a half marathon! No wonder you were hurting. Such a smiley happy face tho and i'm glad your g&t gag got a half smile at some point, that poor marshal on the first water station really wasn't feeling it was she 🤣
Haha, as training programmes go, I’m not sure how good mine is?! I think the first marshal was just focused on helping people rather than listening out for my absolutely HILARIOUS one liners!
“Just a park run left to go.” Think I’ve said that on every race I’ve done, including the Park Run.😜Well done Al 👊🏻
Haha, class! You’ve got to break it down haven’t you! Especially parkruns!
I was the 2.00hr pacer 😆 Great running Al, very impressive running/filming and talking! Well done
Hey Lois! Thanks for pacing! I would have liked to keep up but you got me at the half way point! I couldn’t hold on!
You deserve a handicap for carrying a GoPro and talking. I think at least 5%…unless you need 10% in which case, ask Lana!
Haha, a 10% handicap would get me sub-2 right?! I’ll take it!

Great video and good to hear you enjoyed the Brass Monkey (from this year's Deputy Race Director). Good to see and hear the runners eye view.
Thanks a lot! Appreciate you guys putting on such a successful event! Can’t be easy with that many people and 13.1 miles of closed roads!
Great video. Might try and give that one a go next year. Good luck with the marathon training. I ran Manchester last year. Was tough going though it hasn’t put me off running another in the future. In the meantime looking forward to Druridge Bay 10k at the weekend.
Thanks Al! Appreciate it! Hopefully I’ll see you on Sunday for a sunny day by the sea!
Great video Al. Definitely a tough wind in the first half - I was about 5 minutes behind you & glad just to get round.
That’s a great run Geoff, well done! Yeah, I started out well enough but soon had to dig in and just get round!
Great content as per. I'm running Manchester marathon too so might see you there. What's your target? My A1 aim is a PB sub 4 hours.
Thanks Dave! Nice, yeah hopefully see you there! No idea on my aim yet, probably sub-5 based on my current performance!
I’m sure I seen you running the last 300m with your camera. I didn’t know it was you at the time 🤣
Ha, that sure sounds like me! You’ll have to say hello next time! Good running mate, well done!
Do you have a target time in mind for Manchester, Al? Or is the aim just to complete it?
Great question! I’m not sure to be honest… sub-5 maybe?! It really depends how much work I put in. This weekend was great but I’ve got to build on it. I have a tendency just to wing it! Might not work with a marathon though!
Heaton Harriers Lauren smiling as always
For sure! Lauren’s always a pleasure to bump into!

G&T? Gulp and Toss?
Touché. Touché indeed!
Great video Al. Brilliant insight into the inner monologue that we go through whilst suffering during endurance events. Looked a tough shift. Thanks for sharing mate 🙏
Thanks Stephen! Ha, most of my longer events cycle through the same highs and lows! Always aim to finish on a high though!
Mint vid, well done Al and co. Really hope to give this one a go next year! Saw you at Newcastle 10k start. Think you beat me by 20 seconds too haha. Good running, keep it up.
Ah, no way! Great running… you might well be in the video for it! I haven’t finished editing it yet… that’s tonight’s task!
Well done. Spotted myself in the video 😃 I did ask you the name of your channel but forgot it once I crossed the line. 😒 I did remember you uploaded on a Tuesday though.
New Sub😊
Ahh! I’m really chuffed you found me! Thank you for subscribing and huge well done for the run!
Brilliant vlog Al. Always so chirpy and funny. We loved it. That's a lot of miles over 2 days my friend, you did really well on tired legs 👏👏👏
Thanks Dean! Yeah, taking it easy for a couple of days now! Then a 10k this weekend!
New(ish) subscriber here, love your videos mate 🤜Looks a great race to do, something to look at for next year

Well done mate, take my hat off to you , carrying the camera and talking through it, i prefer to strap mine to my chest and get on with it, :-)
Thanks mate! I have a chest mount but find holding it a bit more flexible! I’m used to carrying it around now!
Great effort - especially on the back of a 10k. The event looked a good one and I can’t wait to see the marathon video and all the content beforehand. Keep up the fab work!
Thanks Andy! Ha, the marathon video is going to be emotional! I’ve seen a lot of people hit the wall around mile 20 and I reckon I’ll be no different!
Well done Al well done the ladies looked a nice course.hope your legs aren't sore after 13 miles on the hard stuff
Cheers Paul! They looked great didn’t they! I was a bit achey yesterday but better today!
Think you went through the same emotions at the same spots! Well done again Al 👏🏻👏🏻
Ha! Good to know I wasn’t alone! It’s a tricky course isn’t it. Well done to you too!
