Note: You can dodge cancel out of the pillar of fire "root" pretty darn early and still get the cast off. Has been invaluable for me in CQC situations - I bait them into melee range just to eat a pillar of fire as I dodge away.
I personally favor the left tree more, I feel like the pure damage you have is much higher so I have like 16 points on the left and 4 on the right just to get burn out. Thinking of playing around with all points on left and simply switch to the ice gauntlet for cc to escape from melee
man I love ur vids u know wtf ur doing with video so ez to fellow and all the info u ever need is there don't think there is anyone that make as good informational video as u r so underrated man
I would suggest sticking to the Fire Mage side of the tree until you get Flare for early leveling. You also get Spellslinger on the way down which is a huge boost.
In the beginning you do not need all 3 skills you can easily take on almost all the enemies efficiently till lol 30. At the. Start all you have to invest into is Fire Mage passive get the mana back, crit chance, dmg buff on 50%+ mana, 0 mana cost on heavy attack, crits do burning. You are set basically then, all you have to do is balance mana using heavy attacks to keep you over 50% for the buff and spam light attacks to stack burning through critical. Then you take fireball cause it is damn awesome and incinerate. Also don't forget the passive that lowers cd each attack. The rest of the points go into fireball and incinerate and fire dash. And you are becoming mana non issue mage heavy spammer.
I reset after reading your comment and it's working like a charm sofar 😄👍. I didn't really know what I wanted as a 2nd weapon so I went for the Gauntlet for some CC and use Entombed if I run out of mana. Overall mana is very well manageable even without.
Pilar of fire, fire ball and burnout are my go to, the free heavy attacks on the left and the distance attacks are usually better besides the last skill in the left tree gives extra damage. Burnout is a must have imo for mobility
If you dont have a rapier side weapon you definately want to take the 2 weapon level perks that make it so heavy auto attack is free and then the one so that heavy auto attack also gives mana. But it feels bad not rushing the right side to get that damage buff at the end final perk. P.S. I cant wait to wreck players with my Burn and Bleed build.
been playing firestaff+musket for ages now, please try it and let me know what you think, people die before they get to touch you, and if they do you can land trap into grenade into heavy fire staff attack + fire ball into burn out. In a 2 second window you get 3 ability damage and a heavy attack. people disappear with some nice crits. its very fun.
I’ve been playing with a battle mage style build the past few days. Fire staff and sword/shield. At weapon lvl 10 this wakes up pretty good. Burn them down with the staff, they get close and you stun lock them and reverse stab for tons of damage. Currently running heavy armor but might try medium for more mobility and damage once I max mastery
What about fire staff with hammer? Fire: fire ball, incinerate, burn out Hammer: clear out, shock wave, path of destiny Better ability recommendations are welcome
Thank you for the nice guide. It is quite different from the others I have been watching. I would like to learn more about the life staff and rapier pairings and the order of progression through those talents as well. Do you have a guide that addresses those?
Yooo! guys I'm here because people have been telling me that mage with heavy armour is meta, I was like wtf, since when do mages wear heavy armour, new world will become a meme >.> Happy to see you guys wear proper clothing XD. Is it true that heavy armour (medium i can accept) is the meta for new world right now. ALSO excellent video.
Immediately acquiring three spells that don't function adequately at base level is absolutely a trap. Focus on one spell in a tree at a time and work your way through that as you level. That's the reason why it seems rough as a mage, when it need not be.
Early on Watch it Burn is invaluable, it enhances the light attacks a lot, then I'd go for the mobility spell, then the meele AoE and then the fireball.
i have too many hours in cs go like 3,5k and i think is very useful to play Mage when you have good aiming, but after few hours of playing this game can use all CPU, or it was my fault cuz i have Vsync ON XD
Man I love the concept and firepower of fire staff but it's such a struggle to stay with mana. Ice gauntlet/ rapier seems to be allowing me to keep my mana up much better. Fire staff ice gauntlet drains my mana fast fast.
@@Jhin7F yup. Once I noticed some of the perks on Fire staff for mana management I started leveling it again. Wanna focus IG/fire staff to end game with rapier for special situations.
It seems super cool to pair it with the rapier but what attributes am I supposed to skill then? I mean I can’t go all the way with the intelligence tree because then I wont deal damage with the rapier. Help please
Rapier scales with int and you can slot an int gem into it to make it scale more! 50 points in dex at level 60 is still worth it for the extra crit with fire staff
So choice is limited? You cant have both trees unlocked and swap skills out like how we can swap gear on our key bindings? Playstyles are locked into having to respec? **Sorry brand new player here**
I personally feel the spell is pretty much useless. You dont have time to channel it very much and in short time the dmg isnt great. If you have a tank then you can maybe use it but on solo its not good
Disappointed you didnt mention the 4th option. Fire staff Musket. All gas. No breaks. Nothing says warcrimes like sticking someone with a grenade, throwing down two bear traps and using a flame thrower on them till they run away or get stuck in traps. Then when they run away you can shoot them in the back. Did I mention warcrimes?
the fact you guys mentioned life staff + amber gem fire staff makes me super curious... Would that even be enough damage? If so, that is a beastly combo and insanely annoying for others to deal with. I have not seen a single person mention life+fire as plausible so far
I liked the look of the game but the pvp aspect turned me off and it being another level-based mmo (I've done those to death in the past years) was another turn off. But after playing it for 12 hours over 2 days it maybe be the most fun mmo I've ever played and I started with UO, EQ ect. You don't have to pvp but if you do it's faction based (the only kind i really like). And the 50 on 50 I've watched is pretty wild. Great game.
@@alexanderjohnson6178 yeah looks like it I really ....I really look for his videos because nobody post numbers and break things down like he do ...sucks ...
Fire staff is extremely weak early game. It's literally a disadvantage in pvp against a half-decent melee player. I almost uninstalled the game when I realized how cluncky and unrewarding the magic system in the game. Almost zero mobility, no escape ability (burnout can be blocked with shields lol) and your dmg comes from skillshots which is obviously harder to play than melee. AND there's a casting time on almost every ability so melee can and will break your spells once they get in range. I think the best pvp "mage" build will be ice gauntlet (for controll) with great axe or war hammer (for cc and dmg) with int scaling gems. Life staff can be good too for self healing, I haven't tried it yet.
@@TheJarlath9 try great axe. You get a charge and a strong cc. Once you are in melee range no ranged will escape from you. Because they literally can't.
Tell me you're trash without tell me you're trash.... This build straight up has the highest skill ceiling in the game. It's absolutely devastating but only if you hit stuff so practice practice practice
so many points wasted on constitution, better use it for INT a good Tank will always aggro the enemies so a mage wont get hit by the enemies ! actually the whole build is pretty bad i guess... your dmg is very low you heath points are for no reason on almost 10k... for what? only to get damaged while yusing your incinerate near enemies or just to run away with burnout? thats a big waste
Everything about the fire staff sucks!!!! The basic attack animation of the fire staff is complete crap compared to the warhammer and other melee weapon animations.
