I noticed that the armour from your faction gives a % to critical damage resistance and if you socket it with the right gems you can be EXTREMELY resistant as a tank. I am wondering about shields tho ...
Your dualist is actually a Musketeer. Historically Musketeers were armed with both a musket and a rapier. The musket of the Musketeer is not featured in the stories of the Three Musketeers as much as they were used by the actual Musketeers of the French. Deadly at long and short range for sure.
Meta tank Build IMO would be SnS, Hammer. Its better for all the content especially war. You CC chain people with hammer (Crowd Control Tree abilities) and then you switch to SnS when on cooldown and tank using the complete Defender tree.
I kinda liked Fire + Life staff combo, I didn't get far into the game however the combination was fun ( dodge + cast ) type of gameplay and with the right perks you don't get out of mana so easily.

@@sko1beer use all 3. i keep spear, hatchet, axe, rapier, and musket on me at all times. different areas/mobs may call for different abilities/damage types.
Rapier + Ice Gauntlet = High cc, survivability and high damage. Best for large open area fights where people are spread out and you can pick people off. Great Axe + Hammer = Strongest melee pvp build. High cc, high movement, high damage, and very large attack radius. Best for grouped enemies and super cheese if stacked with others of the same build. Im having fun with the sword/shield with musket. I call it the privateer build. Its sort of just like a tank ranged dps hybrid build with lots of cc. Spec into strength and dexterity for that.
Hey Dojo, Which tank do you think is going to be better for the late game? Sword&Shield + Warhammer or your version of the Sword&Shield + Hatchet. The compatibility of a taunt gem + the healing of berserk do seem nice but while tanking a boss you wouldn't want to stay on the hatchet for too long since you want your shield up as much as you can (thus reducing the effectiveness of the hatchet)... With Warhammer, you can quickly use your spells and swap back to S&S. Let me know what you think!
I didn’t get a chance to test out warhammer taunt on shockwave. It seems like berserk has a wider ranged taunt too which might be more useful even if you can’t use the full duration heal?

Man, just preordered the game today after being on the fence about it, then I realized, Oh shit, what do I do now. After watching your video, this has at least brought my stress level about class picking, so thank you,
I set up a relatively interesting build during Open Beta. Light armor load, Greataxe and Ice gauntlet (or Life Staff for soloing). Then, I went full INT, socketed in an elemental INT-based gem into my Greataxe and boom, that's the basis of the build. I guess you could call it a glass cannon battle mage. It was very niche but I liked it a lot. There's still some room to improve such as maybe switching Greataxe with a quicker weapon while keeping the elemental int-based gem for the build.
This is literally what I’m doing. I swap between gauntlet and staff depending on wether I’m solo or in a group. Ice for solo play and fire for grp play. Great Axe is the main staple of the build though. I’m set up to charge in, pull enemies, then WW them down. Running light or medium armor. Won’t go heavy with this build
Every thing feels appealing for me expect anything to do with the hammer and great axe. SnB Meta tank looks so fun! But last beta I was loving Spear and Musket. I don't know how I'm going to decide come launch day. lol You earned a sub from me, great video!
You know that shields only give you stats if you are using a sword, otherwise it's just adding to your overall armor weight and slowing your run speed in return for zero gains?
i combined rapier with the same abilities u use with the bow, for bow as main damage i would go the same build as u did, but for rapier main dmg i would use the toxic arrow, for 1 more dot effect instead of the 3 fast shot ability (sorry, don't know all ability names)
I hope they keep everything balanced and we can avoid a meta as much as possible. I stopped playing ESO specifically because of the “all mana/stam” with specific weapons required for optimal performance. Hopefully this being a pure sandbox title metas won’t be as as commanding.
Do you think it's viable to go with a Musket/Hatchet variation on the Hunter build? I guess since Musket overlaps with Intellect it'd probably be too diluted.

sword and board along with spear, med armour tank
stunlock everything to death, trust
man i really wanted a SnB dps build and you put me to ease if it would work. im sticking to my heavy armor snb build for sure i dont wanna tank but i love that weapon combo. thanks for the video
1 problem I have with RPGs and mmos is I never seem to want to play the standard builds, I just want to have fun lol. rapier ice Gauntlet
Surprised the ice gauntlet/rapier isnt on here. It’s getting super popular.
As for me, SnB and great axe all the way. I’m excited for this game is much
Yeah gauntlet is so nice. But extremely torn on what to pick.
Hack- is that you narrating, I know that voice from ESO. Good to see ur adding New World.
Excellent video my friend
Thank you!
All my buddies have chosen one play style/weapon setup and ran with it. I've used so many and still can't make up my mind 🤣
Thank you! I plan on going Templar. Liked and subbed.
Have fun!
You know that shields only give you stats if you are using a sword, otherwise it's just adding to your overall armor weight and slowing your run speed in return for zero gains?
Honestly, best build video i've seen till now. I just reached lvl 15 so this helps alot :d
i combined rapier with the same abilities u use with the bow, for bow as main damage i would go the same build as u did, but for rapier main dmg i would use the toxic arrow, for 1 more dot effect instead of the 3 fast shot ability (sorry, don't know all ability names)
6:06 i lost it when he said Social Distancing :))
Cool builds. Trying to find what weapons I wanna do. You sound like Hacktheminotaur. :D
I was thinking the same thing. Maybe it's a second account? lol
It is Hack!! Look at the groups names!
Dude it IS hack :D
Can you attack with the life staff?
Battlemage vs Rapier/Ice Gauntlet combo, who would win?
Well the pvp tournament final at end of beta was rapier/ig vs LS/GA and the rapier/ig player won.
