This is just art...I don't care what your beliefs are...you cannot deny the artistry in this performance. It rips your guts out--that's what true art does, and that's why it's so valuable, it rips out those guts and gives you pause to examine them, thus questioning everything. God bless these artists, I'm so glad they love the Lord, so I can jealously hear them sing His praise. Oh Love, that will not let me go, thank you, Jesus.
How excellent and appropriately spoken! I can not listen to this glorious rendition, without tears moistening my cheeks. The Gathiers have been personally responsible for bringing SO MUCH joy and spiritual renewal to my wife and me over the past decades. Recently we were very happy to see them also producing some familiar old-time secular music. They were playing familiar old songs of musicians we both knew and loved growing up, and we thoroughly loved singing along with them. But after a few days, we began to feel more and more uncomfortable about it, when the Lord began convicting us both about the Gaithers now recording secular music. WHY? Because we know how insidious and crafty the arch-enemy of God is. Satan loves to bring things into the Christian church that at first look so harmless and enjoyable -- but are in reality, the kiss of the serpent. We both believe that within a short time (most likely after they pass away), the Gathier organization will be producing full-blowen rock 'n roll videos -- under the guise of, say -- "Old-time Feel-good Music for Boomers" or some other innocuous term. We just feel that the Gaithers have now (hopefully innocently) opened "Pandora's box." And where it will lead, only the Lord knows. Please join with us as we pray, that the Gathiers realize the trap they have fallen into, and with God's help, seemingly put the "pickles back in the jar" -- by the only way possible. That being, to REFUSE to record one more SECULAR song, regardless of how innocent and/or lucrative it may first appear.

I’ve heard this song a thousand times, but it has new meaning after having read about the writer George Matheson. As a boy he had partial visions concerns and by age 20 was completely blind. He was the first of 8 children and his sister learnt 3 languages to assist him with his education. Then she was getting married and this was a bittersweet time for him, the eve of her wedding he penned this song, without rewriting or correcting any of it. It speaks of an unselfish love that will not let us go and it’s an awesome reminder of Christ’s love for us.
And one of the reasons it was bitter was because his fiancee didn't want to marry a blind man and so broke the engagement off. Meaning this was a break up song. And instead of badmouthing his ex he ran to Jesus the only one who loves unconditionally.
Look at the faces of these people. Listen to the voice of this song. There is an endless, everlasting love to be found. It is in our Lord Jesus Christ, in Him we must and will be saved. Just ask him to come into your heart. He can be your personal savior. You will hear his voice, and you will know why these people cry. Love like this can come into your soul by no other name in earth or in heaven.
Such a beautiful hymn and a beautiful singer: Ready for another verse? O love so great, so full, so free, That leads, blest Father now to Thee, Thy Spirit strengthening in our heart, With Christ to know our heavenly part, And glory give to Thee.
This may have been 9 yrs ago,,, but WOW! The Holy Spirit is still in it! David is a master class singer, but first & foremost he truly sings for the LOVE OF JESUS💯🙏✝️❣
How awesome the Lord is ,He brings to mind hymns and songs that lift a soul to Him. and encourages them to to trust in Him with all their hearts. Thank you for sharing this hymn.
D.P. is my all-time favorite tenor and he absolutely does a beautiful job on this song. However, don't miss the piano mastery of the incredible Stan Whitmire.
David Phelps musical ability has brought unbievabkepeace and helped me to find that SWEET love and Personal closeness with my Lord and Savior by spending an hour or sometimes two listening to his music.Thank you Jesus for his talent.
Mr. Phelps has little difficulty with pitch control, displays complete command of his vocal registers, great breath control, a keen ability to keep slow, soft phrases driving along with perfect arc. He interprets and integrates the drama inherent in this wonder of a church poem so well that this audience of skilled musicians which includes the great Bill Gaither, the late Queen of Southern gospel Vestal Goodman and other enormously talented music writers and performers present...were stunned. A must listen.
I never play this song till now. am big fan of gaither music.david does a masterpiece. can never get enough of this song. all I can say is awsome awsome amen amen
Awesome delivery of these blessed words! This song so speaks the heart of my gratitude for my Lord! One of my all time FAVORITES, this Ph err los rendition, also!
Oh love that will not let me go I rest my weary soul in thee I give thee back the life I owe That in thine ocean depths its flow May richer, fuller be Oh light that followest all my way I yield my flickering torch to thee My heart restores its borrowed ray That in thy sunshine's blaze its day May brighter, fairer be Oh joy that seekest me through pain I cannot close my heart to thee I trace the rainbow through the rain And feel the promise is not vain That morn shall tearless be Oh cross that liftest up my head I dare not ask to fly from thee I lay in dust's life's glory dead And from the ground there blossoms red Life that shall endless be
O Love that will not let me go I rest my weary soul in Thee I give Thee back the life I owe That in Thine ocean depths its flow May richer, fuller be O Love, that will not let me go. Oh Joy, that seekest me through pain I cannot close my heart to Thee I trace the rainbow through the rain And feel the promise is not vain That morn shall tearless be O Love, that will not let me go. Oh Cross, that liftest up my head I dare not ask to fly from Thee I lay in dust life's glory dead And from the ground there blossoms red Life that shall endless be O Love, that will not let me go. O Love, that will not let me go.
Hymm writen by Matheson at the lowest time in his life and a voice deep within his heart brought forth these melody from heaven. A. Song that is straight from heaven can only bring us to love Jesus and bring healing straight from His throne room. Bless those who hear this hymm with a heart of love.
This was my mom's favorite song. It was her testimony in life to God. My mom died August 14 2023 this song was sung at her funeral it touched the lives of those who were there.
I absolutely love this video. It always makes me cry because it's so beautiful. I recognize many of the singers, but cannot place the woman at 1:44 and the man at 2:11. Anyone know who they are? The expressions of love across the room are incomparable.
(Lyrics) Oh Love that will not let me go, I rest my weary soul in Thee; I give Thee back the life I owe, That in Thine ocean depths its flow May richer, fuller be. Oh Light that foll’west all my way, I yield my flick’ring torch to Thee; My heart restores its borrowed ray, That in Thy sunshine’s blaze its day May brighter, fairer be. Oh Joy that seekest me through pain, I cannot close my heart to Thee; I trace the rainbow through the rain, And feel the promise is not vain, That morn shall tearless be. Of course great vocal. But if you study the piano arrangement, it's really amazing. Does anyone know who actually arranged the piano part and who is playing?
I really wanna get this accompanied sheet for piano.... plz reply me anyone having this piece... I couldn’t find anywhere... 😭😭😭😭😭 I would very appreciate it... 😢😢🙆♀️
Yes this young man sitting beside Gloria gave a beautiful story made all the more moving by the fact that he is I think terminally ill. You would need to see the dvd. Its called Journey to the sky I think. Dont know if its still available. Very moving.

Marcos Perez Not a problem at all, Marcos. Bill Gaither usually makes at least 2 videos from each Homecoming session. In this case, he actually made three. The third one is called "Passin' the Faith Along." Blessings to you as well.

Oh love that will not let me go
I rest my weary soul in thee
I give thee back the life I owe
That in thine ocean depths its flow
May richer, fuller be
Oh light that followest all my way
I yield my flickering torch to thee
My heart restores its borrowed ray
That in thy sunshine's blaze its day
May brighter, fairer be
Oh joy that seekest me through pain
I cannot close my heart to thee
I trace the rainbow through the rain
And feel the promise is not vain
That morn shall tearless be
Oh cross that liftest up my head
I dare not ask to fly from thee
I lay in dust's life's glory dead
And from the ground there blossoms red
Life that shall endless be
Excellent my child! All Glory to the Lord Jesus who guards and protects his Loyal Faithful Servants! John 3:16
O Love that will not let me go

Charlotte Ritchie and Sue Dodge I do believe. Charlotte Richie still sings with Gaithers, and David Phelps.
My favorite hymn. Transcendent.
Awesome! 🙏❤️

It's the story of George Matheson that make this song still attractive to today's audience.
Thank you

King
What amazing love.
Who was the accompanist in this video? Played beautifully.
Probably Anthony Burger, a phenomenal pianist who played with Gaither for years until his untimely death recently.
That's not Anthony :) see 2:19 . If you know Anthony, you'll know it's not him at the piano :)
Right you are. Missed the shot of the pianist.
+Chad Thorne looks like Bill Gaither
+Chad Thorne nope not Bill Gaither. there was a previous comment that identified him but I can't access part of the comments
Does anyone know why everyone was so emotional before he started singing?
Yes, they all heard him in rehearsal and knew, this is going to be Awesome !

I don't care about voice control or anything else and all the other comments are saying this song is a song of deep worship
I like
Jesus
It takes a Gay Man to really make this song as emotional, deep and joyous as it can be. David gives his ALL to this song.
💗.............🙏💗💗
Only Danny Gaither’s interpretation touches me more than this 🙏🏿
Great piano accompaniment of this George Matheson experience
╬ Amen ╬
True Christian's brain and mentality seem to be the most wonderful things to study haha
Does anyone have this score😮💨
There wasn't a dry eye in the place.
