The one about the guy hovering over the bed like a ghost made me laugh. I like how Link thinks outside the box so often. I also like Rhett’s answer about the hamster wheel.
Gayathri Nair it’s kinda hard to run I’m a tie. He’s just saying it’s kinda hard to run to run in a tie instead of addressing the elephant in the room the hamster wheel
That's because most of these comedians aren't actually funny. They rely on the trappings of humor - quirky vocal inflections and body language and pseudo-transgressive ideas - to cover over this. Very similar to most modern pop music stars, who aren't actually talented musicians and rely instead on audio engineers, appearance, and cult of personality. Live performance without their habitual crutches shows their true colors.
@D.H. Obviously, comedy is subjective, but I disagree entirely. I just watched their most popular videos on RUclips. Or at least, I tried to. I couldn't finish any of them. They're exactly what I'm talking about: Good video production, "quirky", not funny in the slightest; on the contrary, they're cringe-inducingly bland, simple, and corny.
@Jared Gann: Well, yeah... Are you saying Rhett and Link were bad but not quite as bad as others? Maybe... I don't know... but bad is bad. These guys and all those that bombed aren't funny in their main shtick either... it's just that these "live" performances, without the habitual crutches that support almost all "comedy" nowadays, lay bare their blandness. Jim Gaffigan, Nick Offerman, and Zach Woods did a good job with this, because they're actually clever and comedically skilled.
I didn't care for it. I like rhett and link because they are a source of clean comedy in this gutter-minded world. So I get annoyed when they make too dirty of jokes. I get that others find it funny though.
Vanity Fair, Vice news, and now The New Yorker? My gosh! These guys are on an interview roll these past days! So happy for them!! I will forever love GMM!
I think Rhett and Link did great for having to think of these responses on the spot. That would be really hard. They definitely did better than most of the others!
I disagree, I love Rhett & Link and I've been watching GMM for years, but I think they we're pretty bad at this, but I think that's to be expected, this isn't their type of comedy. But to say they did better than most others? I've only seen 3 other people do this, Nick Offerman, Bill Hader & Jim Gaffigan and I think they all did much better than Rhett & Link, just my opinion though.
1) Well, I guess he didn't say don't bake them... 2) Stock traitor 3) Well you've got a STANDING desk. 4) No Ma'am, I don't hear a "squeak-squeak" sound. 5) We just can't read puss-and-boots every night. 6) I was worried about Jack fending for himself, but he said he had a plan 7) ? 8) I told you we didn't need that Blue Apron membership 9) Show off
I've watched all of these in this series and so far I haven't laughed as hard as when the 9 year old girl was doing the captions. I think the issue is that the adults tend to over think them. Don't get me wrong, I think that the majority of the comedians/celebrities that have done this are normally very funny. The New Yorker should give the 9 year old a job captioning the cartoons.
These guys aren't comedians, so it makes sense that they'd be about as good at this as you or me. It's nice seeing someone normal have a bash at this, we have the comedians for the reliable laughs. Given their productions utilise pre-written outlines and rely on their reactions being engaging (rather than a need to be spontaneously creative), I think they did a great job.
The only funny one was "so you guys aren't drinking tonight?" because like Rhett said, it ignores the absurdity of the set-up. Totally within the usual tone of these cartoons. The other ones were all way too overwritten. "I told you you left the oven on, Mom" was also short and punchy, but too obvious.
They aren't used to these types of videos. They aren't really standup comedians, they're just naturally funny. When someone asks you to be funny on the spot, it's almost impossible.
They generally operate with pre-written outlines for their shows, which involve scenarios that they react to really well. They did a great job thinking up spontaneous lines given it's in no way their forte.
Pie one: "Stop second-guessing me and just eat it!" Cat one: "He's not spoled! he's just comfortable." office one: "He used to be on floor 5, i guess his stocks are going up!" Ruins One: "Why do men never read the instructions?" It's all i got.
#1 -- "Are you sure? Because it sure smells like apple." #2 - "Ignore him. He just wants people to ask about his standing desk." #3 - "Hey, do I _look_ like I'm ready for your presentation?" #4 - "...oh totally, bro, plenty of space, wheel all to myself... I'm telling you, you should eat him."
I would have gone the "That looks sinfully good" route for the Adam and Eve one. Also I love, because of how family friendly GMM tends to be, when they do something outside of GMM and they are more adult.
I feel so sorry for Rhett's beard. Maybe one day she'll realize the truth. 4:50 - "You also bypassed the comedy." Yep, just like most New Yorker cartoons,
0:10 Snake pie. 0:39 People are their best under pressure. 1:38 I'm in a meeting. 2:20 Viva la revolucion! 2:57 I always wondered what was under that robe. 3:54 I've got baggage. 4:21 Hi, Welcome to Hell. 4:56 No, I will not ask for directions. 5:41 We should invent a sport, and call it planking.
I personaly would have Witten : 1:42 "you told me the office meeting was at 8 in the morning, and I was prepared." 3:45 "dear, maybe we should give the cat a less rich diet." 6:10 "he wants to be noticed always"
I thought it was pretty good, the format just doesnt seem to lend itself to R and L's comedy style I feel. I think you are just reacting based on emotion because Rhett is hating on cats! I too do not agree with his anti-cat rants.
Just for fun, I created my own captions alongside. Idrc if you don’t like them, but if you find this funny, I’m glad I could do something for you. 1): “Yeah, but I don’t like Banana.” 2): “Looks like the stocks are going up.” 3): “why are you judging me? I think they’ll be fine.” 7) Introvert’s Party 8) “I already told you you shouldn’t mix mentos and coke.” 9) Swimmers in the 1800s
Link: "this is my favourite part of the series , the writing and the waiting . I don't know Why they don't just cut it ou"*CUTS*
Yes, they did say those words.
Sudden, people like to comment their favorite parts. there is nothing wrong with that.
Yes, I understand that, I never said anything was wrong with it.
Ok, nice pointless comment?
There's no way you aren't seeing the irony right now.
4:01 Did you remember to bring your emotional baggage?
Incredible
james c 😂😂 awesome
Gold, Jimmy. That’s 24 karat komedy right there.
Wow
1st one “He never said we couldn’t bake the forbidden fruit.”
Lol
The one about the guy hovering over the bed like a ghost made me laugh. I like how Link thinks outside the box so often. I also like Rhett’s answer about the hamster wheel.
Mythical Forest Creature I didn’t understand Rhett’s answer for the hamster wheel. Care to explain????
the guy in the picture could get his tie caught in the hamster wheel while he is running . Probably that.
I love Link's mind
Gayathri Nair it’s kinda hard to run I’m a tie. He’s just saying it’s kinda hard to run to run in a tie instead of addressing the elephant in the room the hamster wheel
I really appreciate how the editors actually turned the drawing for Rhett and Link at 2:15.
SixStringSurfer and the artist’s signature
My caption for this one would be. ‘Suzy said you were lying down on the job but this is too far!’
it kinda ruins the joke though, like its funny only if it were to be kept vertical
For the one with the hamster wheel: I just feel like I'm going nowhere with this deal.
Adam and Eve cartoon:
"Just like Mom used to make."
Fifth one: "He's been acting up ever since he watched The Lion King."
Or: I think the Fancy Feast might be going to his head.
💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯
That is GENIUS
This series is the only place that can make a comedian bland AF.
Jared Gann see the one with Jim Gaffigan. The guy is a genius.
That's because most of these comedians aren't actually funny. They rely on the trappings of humor - quirky vocal inflections and body language and pseudo-transgressive ideas - to cover over this. @@jeremylavine i personally dont find Rhett and Link funny, but some of the other comedians theyve had do this just bomb on it.
@Jared Gann: Well, yeah... Are you saying Rhett and Link were bad but not quite as bad as others? Maybe... I don't know... but bad is bad. How are they simultaneously the best AND worst at this activity? LOL.
I did not walk in here expecting to have pornhub thrown at me, but I'm not mad either
With these videos they've done recently outside of their GMM show I'm starting to see a different side of Rhett and Link.
I didn't care for it. I like rhett and link because they are a source of clean comedy in this gutter-minded world. So I get annoyed when they make too dirty of jokes. I get that others find it funny though.
Peacock Feathers
The real word isn’t censored and they’re adults not 7 year olds.
First one: "Your fruit pies will be the death of me."
Second one: "I heard he bought some stocks and bonds."
“He never said we couldn’t _bake_ the forbidden fruit”
I like this one more
Pirate scene: “Arrg! 8 points fer form...9 points fer style...and 25 points deducted fer, you know, death.”
Second one: “Stocks and Bondage”
Genius! 👏
“Unless it means both....therein comedy :)”
Bless you, Link
Vanity Fair, Vice news, and now The New Yorker? My gosh! These guys are on an interview roll these past days! So happy for them!! I will forever love GMM!
It's pre-organized publicity and marketing for the new season and upcoming tour dates :)
1:34 have the reports on my bed by morning
“Can I tempt you with a slice of pie?”
“Gosh, Eve, that looks sinful”
Rhett and Link are everywhere nowdays! 💙
hmm..
It makes me so happy!!!!!!
They deserve it!
OMG I just said the exact same thing when I saw this video. it's awesome! they deserve it!
They are doing a press tour for the new season
I think Rhett and Link did great for having to think of these responses on the spot. That would be really hard. They definitely did better than most of the others!

33KneesDeep I agree I felt like I could of thought of better jokes! I'm suprised because they are usually so funny and they are smart...
If they did better than the others, the others must have been on the zero end of the scale, because this was bad.
They are not funny
No. They're bad at it. Literally everyone else has been better, making them The Worst.
I think "So you guys aren't drinking tonight?" is pretty great actually.
8) I told you we didn't need that Blue Apron membership 9) Show off
I think for the one with the two people with the cement overshoes. The woman with the wine glass is saying, bon voyage, you two!
Great pirate voice Link😂
ikr he killed that
This angle really accentuates Link's goozle.
DID RHETT JUST SAY P O R N H U B. MY CHILDHOOD. MY INNOCENDCE?Q?W?
You've not heard them swear then? Haha
@@newleif9739 swearing is fine, but sometimes they go too far
I agree, I watch rhett and link for their clean comedy, there's enough trash and dirty minded comedians out there already.
The way he looks at the camera when he says "Freeze to death" terrifies me.
Love them. Love this. Thank you.
Her pie is SINFUL. Sinfully good
I love Rhett and Link
Second one: "I had heard a rumor that our company stocks were going to go up soon, I just didn't think that it would be today."
Office scene: “They said they were planning on increasing stocks by 50 percent, but I didn’t know they meant this”
Rhett looks exhausted here
1:31 "I told you, I don't get out of bed for more than $5,000!"
the way these are edited makes them so. painfully. awkward. I swear it could make anyone unfunny
So awkwardly funny. Love it! ❣️
Agreed. The Nick Kroll video was entertaining IMO
These guys aren't comedians, so it makes sense that they'd be about as good at this as you or me. It's nice seeing someone normal have a bash at this, we have the comedians for the reliable laughs.
Given their productions utilise pre-written outlines and rely on their reactions being engaging (rather than a need to be spontaneously creative), I think they did a great job.
idk the zach woods and abby jacobson one made me cry laughing
I agree...most aren't very clever. Jim Gaffigan did a good job, too. It's tough to come up with these and not many people can do it.
I thought this would a bit mild, but it was more on the hilarious side than I thought! I like their sense of humor 😄
The bed one "I told you I wasn't getting out of bed just for this!"
Airport: "It started out as a joke, but to be honest it makes flying way more enjoyable for me."
"You also bypassed the comedy."
*BURRRRRN*
The only funny one was "so you guys aren't drinking tonight?" because like Rhett said, it ignores the absurdity of the set-up. Totally within the usual tone of these cartoons.

Sure. If you want to write good captions, these two probably aren't the pair, but if you want other entertainment then they'll hook you up.
I think the one where he says “I shouldn’t have worn a tie today” was also pretty good because it does the same thing
4:53 “Oh stop wine-ing”
3:13 "I knew it Larry, he's been reading too much Garfield"
“It was a mistake to ever domesticate felines”
Show what he knows about cats, felines domesticated themselves!
DeathnoteBB “I said I want a Kit Kat, not King Cat”
Bed Man: "'I've fallen and I can't get up' is a real medical condition, Dave!"
1:30 "I told you I'm not really up until I've had my coffee!"
Weird comment but I love Link's hands
Quibble S theres a few tumblr blogs dedicated to Rhett and Link’s hands (;
His rough calloused ranch hands
I like the way link moved his neck to do a pirate voice
5:07 I would put, “I told you, even if you were the last man on earth I STILL wouldn’t marry you!”
Good job, R&L!
“What’s pornhub?”
“Idk I just heard people talking about it”
That’s like when your parents ask you something and you try to act innocent
3:16 caption- The future of memes
Very funny! I really enjoyed this one...
1:06 Guess Gary was late on his loan again
Pie one: "Stop second-guessing me and just eat it!"
Cat one: "He's not spoled! he's just comfortable."
office one: "He used to be on floor 5, i guess his stocks are going up!"
Ruins One: "Why do men never read the instructions?"
It's all i got.
First: "Don't tempt me"
I actually love their pirate one
first one: Adam's Apple Pie
The first one could have been, "For the last time, it's not an apple pie, now eat it before God sees you!"
3:52 “I guess Jerry never got over the fact that I left him for another girl”
#1 -- "Are you sure? Because it sure smells like apple."
#2 - "Ignore him. He just wants people to ask about his standing desk."
#3 - "Hey, do I _look_ like I'm ready for your presentation?"
#4 - "...oh totally, bro, plenty of space, wheel all to myself... I'm telling you, you should eat him."
Bank cartoon:
"Wow, they're not kidding when they say 'penalty for early withdrawal'"
"I told him this is how TSA PreCheck works."
I love the cat one so much 😂👍🐱
This type of thing is not their forte.
I think they did respectably ... and I'm not a fan.
I love cats 🐈:/
Damnit I thought Rhett was going to add the comma between you you
1:30 "I told you I only get out of bed for 8 or higher and this is a 6 at best."
That's Dave, He's in stocks.
They got it all wrong it’s supposed to be “only in New York” for everything
2nd one:" I borrowed Bill's stapler without asking"
For the airport one:
You mean, my emotional support human needs his own ticket?
I would have gone the "That looks sinfully good" route for the Adam and Eve one. Also I love, because of how family friendly GMM tends to be, when they do something outside of GMM and they are more adult.
My favorite is “He didn’t say we couldn’t _bake_ the forbidden fruit!”
Hamster wheel: “I just cannot get to the nozzle! I know the company wants to cut back on water cooler costs but this is ridiculous!”
“I heard IT found pornhub in his search history” 🤣😂😂
Rhett sounds kinda like Alan Alda
I feel so sorry for Rhett's beard. Maybe one day she'll realize the truth.
4:50 - "You also bypassed the comedy." Yep, just like most New Yorker cartoons,
Please, its getting old R.M.,,not humorous at all. 👎
My first thought when I saw the one with the office man in the bed was “at least I’m here” bc that’s literally how I feel walking into class.
The last second of this video was the funniest
We watch you everyday and today I hade to turn it off for my family
Coats Family yup, not good today.
for the bucket one *woman in bucket* "How come he doesent have his legs bound?"
The people in this comment section are easy to impress.
Garden of Eden: “Sorry, I don’t think that’ll fool Him either”
The funniest part of the video is Link acting really stupid and Rhett just grinning at him the whole time
No, they're not good at this. Can't win em all.
First one: “that snake just gave me the best apple pie recipe”
this is basically bone hurting juice
The last two were hilarious!!
Another Colab (kinda)? Wow guys your getting everywhere these days! Not complaining just saying
Not that I could do any better, but they're out of their league here.
Third one 2:19 "Talk about a rat race"
I personaly would have Witten :
1:42 "you told me the office meeting was at 8 in the morning, and I was prepared."
3:45 "dear, maybe we should give the cat a less rich diet."
6:10 "he wants to be noticed always"
Office: "You pick bad stocks, you get in bad stocks."
Cat scene: “Look, no matter how hard you try to be a lion, you’re still just a cat! (a fat one too)”
Rhett is so good at these!
I normally am a big fan of Rhett and Link but that was the most UNfunny I have ever seen them be! Also, cats are wonderful and incredible creatures.
Yeah this was not good.
1): “Yeah, but I don’t like Banana.”
2): “Looks like the stocks are going up.”
3): “why are you judging me? I just created the universal solution to Monday’s.”
4): 9-to-5.
5): “Now, Harold we’ve come together to address your love of King Louis the IV.”
6) “Yeah, I don’t know... I think they’ll be fine.”
7) Introvert’s Party
8) “I already told you you shouldn’t mix mentos and coke.”
9) Swimmers in the 1800s
