  • Most current youtube review of my Chinese Scooter, a Tao Tao Lancer 150cc. Question or comments are more than welcome, I don't know everything but will share what I do know about any gy6 no matter the amount of CC's. As promised in the video, here are the links to the gentlemen that helped me make a fairly easy decision in purchasing this bike. Thanks guys.

    Like the channel ..I bought a used 2017 Tao tao150 also about 6 months ago. I had a Harley sportster years ago but wanted to get back into 2 wheels after an absence.. I change fluids every 900 miles or so, keep spark plug gapped, adjust valves every 1000 miles and the usual maintenance aka tightening fasteners.. I have not had any problems at all. I treat gas occasionally and run 91 octane... Replaced fuel lines with braided fuel lines...... Just my experience... If someone has a few skills and tools this is a very worthy ride... Had it up to 60 mph but usually hold it to 50... Upgrading to high flow intake similar to yours... $16.00 plus new jet worth it... Anyway, thanks for sharing your informative and fun vids....

    • @kachiskid
      @kachiskid  5 лет назад +4

      The motorcycle test is sooooooooo much easier to take on a scooter than a motorcycle. Just practice your figure eights in the street, which should be 10 feet wide. There are video's on-line that show you the motorcycle safety course test. You even have the chance to skip over the class and just go take the test.

      Hey MM-GO, to be honest brother, one of the top 5 things I dislike about the bike is how she handles potholes or big bumps. I also rode 2-up once and didn't like that either. Now, she does have 2 shocks that can be adjusted but I haven't worked on those as of yet. Upgraded tires would help but as my little street runner I avoid bumps and potholes as much as possible. I bought a new blug wire after reading about upgrades needed. The plug I bought does not snap down on the plug or will not stay on it. Hell, I was not even going to put it on in the first place, because I can't even see the damn plug down in that hole where they have it. A young kid saw me off the road and stopped to help. He put zip ties on the plug wire to hold it down in place temporarily. Now what?

    My scooter, the Lancer 150 is now choking up after 25 mph and it seems to be surging or wanting to go faster then hesitating or losing power over and over like something is holding it back or choking it. I do not want to start messing with carberators and would rather buy a new one. Never did replace feul and vacuum lines and they don't seem to be cracked or messed up in any way. I would like to put a K&N filter on but that back fender seems to be in the way. If we do away with the fender then the filter will be filthy and muddy with no protection. Don't think it is the spark plug but what do I know. It starts up just fine and runs fine off the line, just don't want to go full tilt and something is wrong with it. It will still go up to 40 or so on flat ground or downhill, but it is dying on the hills going up and is worse than before on the hills these last couple days.

      Sounds like you might have a vacuum leak, or the carb needs to be cleaned. Is it hard to start the bike up? Check the manifold for leaks. How many miles do you have on the bike? They make air pod filters with plastic surrounding them. I use a zip tie to keep the filter away from the tire, I had it hooked up when I had the fender attached also. I never ride in the rain or mud.

    cripple creek at 9500' . with one particularly steep climb along the way.
    if it can maintain 10 to 12 mph uphill it'll be ok enough. that stretch of road

      Bob, Yes I live in the flat plains of Michigan. Now this can be a little tricky...thanks to RUclips I have seen a little of Cripple Creek, your not talking about Shelf Road are you? Or is your route paved?
      Either way, I think I would want you to have a fuel injected vehicle when traveling at that change of altitude in that short of time. That is a big time increase in elevation for a carburetor. That being said, and not seeing the exact road, you should have no problem doing 15-25 mph.
      Stay off Gold Camp...I hear it's haunted...lol.

      ( 50 cent breakfast until 1100 )
      the road from town here to the south
      end of shelf rd has been paved since the 90's. so i just trailer my yamaha xt225
      there and park/unload it. by doing this all the 12 miles of flat-land is behind me.
      trail riding is seldom done anymore, that 225 , at 265# has become too heavy for me to lift when a fall happens.

      @@acidbathmaniac - I agree. That’s why I bought one because they were cheap. (my budget was tight at the time.) But I regretted it because I probably spent more on those bikes in the long run. It got to the point that I would literally look up to the sky and say “please“ hoping it would work whether I was stepping outside my door or out shopping somewhere. I would’ve been better off waiting and saving for a quality bike.
      The best bike I ever owned was the People 150 by Kymco. I put almost 20,000 miles on it and it never broke down. The biggest upkeep was changing the belt, which was normal, tires and headlights. Other than that? It was rocksolid. I regret having to get rid of it. (I moved) I highly recommend Kymco to anyone. To start this channel I knew getting a bike that already could hit 70mph would be useless, there would be nothing to do. For the price I got the bike for I already had a reasonable expectation. A lot of people comment without know the whole story and the purpose of the channel, (which I'm not accusing you of at all) which is to get a cheap bike and build her up to my liking. My current setup is a 171cc Taida engine, have completely changed over the CVT, carb. tires, fuel lines, mirrors, pretty much everything, which makes it a total different bike. My bike has been a treat to own so far, but you can bet the moment something happens that shouldn't, I'll let everyone know. Yamaha, Vespa, Aprillia, she not, but she makes me smile every time I look at her. She is no longer a Tao Tao but a Kachi's Kid special edition...lol.
