The Lord's patience with His people is amazing! How He waits to be gracious to His people, for them to return to Him ... for me to return from my stubborn and rebellious ways. What a merciful God we serve!

God shows us how He speaks to us, and Isaiah uses the planting metaphor we saw in Hosea. God plants His word in us like seed, “one line at a time, one line at a time, little here, a little there” (Is 28:13). We need to be good soil-have receptive hearts and open ears to hear Him. And He customizes His message for each of us, as the farmer “knows just what to do” (Is 28:26) in milling his seed: black cumin is threshed with a light stick and grain is crushed under a wheel, but not pulverized (Is 28:27-28). God knows how each of us can understand His word, given our perspectives and circumstances, because “the Lord Almighty is a great teacher” (Is 28:29)! For example, He teaches my wife through Thanksgiving and song, and my sister through journaling, and my son through sermons and video messages. He is generous, and wise.

God's loving heart and continual pursuit of us, even when we lean on our own understanding, is amazing. I am in awe of how gracious He is. I know that when I am in His word or listening to worship music I feel more of a connection to Him. I am just so thankful for Him and for Tara-Leigh's insight. Her summaries help me to know Him better. Thank you!

I appreciated the section about wheat threshing and saw God as Gather teaching us that the beatings and challenges and difficulties in life are not meant to destroy but to refine and get the best from us. To Him be all the glory. May we submit to His will because He loves us

Isaiah 30:18, ..."the Lord longs to be gracious to you; He rises to show you compassion" and Isaiah 30:19, ..."How gracious he will be when you cry for help! As soon as he hears, he will answer you."
I pray the eyes of my family would be opened to see the Lord's graciousness and compassion and be moved to cry out for help that He would answer them. 🙏🏽

I love how God says in Isaiah 30:15, “…’In repentance and rest is your salvation, in quietness and trust is your strength….’” I hear God saying to slow down and rest in Him. This is so contrary to the American way of life. Repentance, rest, quietness and trust sound delightful to my weary soul!

Today's recap was so deep. I love what you said about staying in God's word so we recognize His voice. I also appreciated what you said about waiting for God's plan, trusting in Him, and resting in Him. I needed that reminder. I believe that I have learned so much about God since day 1, but I honestly love God's patience and relentless pursuit of us.

Thank you Tara ❤ God bless you mightily and increase your strength, amen!
    Happy weekend TBR family ❤
What I noticed in all the chapters we read today was that each chapter didn't end without we reading about God's mercy and grace by extension. So what I chose to take away from today's reading is for us as sons of God to be like Him, gracious and merciful. When we do this by extension even to those who hurt us, it shows maturity of heart in our walk with God.
And who knows, maybe by extension the person you extended it to might come to the knowledge of God's word? The way God exercised patience, long-suffering, grace and mercy is something we should emulate as His children. If He's truly our Father, then His traits shouldn't be farfetched from us.
We are helped of God! Amen 🙏🏽

My God shot for today is in saiah‬ ‭30‬:‭15‬ “For thus said the Lord God, the Holy One of Israel, “In returning and rest you shall be saved; in quietness and in trust shall be your strength.” But you were unwilling,”. So often when trouble comes we try to handle it on our own, we react. Instead we should take a moment and speak to God, put our trust fully in Him, and listen for His whisper. His answer will be 100 times better than anything we could come up with.

This really resonated with me @brucestrange3289. When trouble comes I am always trying to figure out what I can do in my own strength. It is something I know I need to work on and I trust in the Father to draw my mind towards him instead, just as he has taught me and continues to teach me how to improve in so many other areas of my life. I am so thankful for Him and thankful before Him. His ways are higher than our ways, his thoughts higher than our thoughts.

I feel that God is chasing these ppl to prove his love to them. I hope I never make God feel he has to chase me. I wake up every morning and bathe, get my lunch ready, get in my car, and go to work. All of these things (a home, water, food, car, a job, health) are proof enough that God loves me. I sometimes fail, I am not perfect, but I ALWAYS come back to God.

The Lord is wonderful in counsel and excellent in wisdom (Isaiah 28:29). Isaiah 29-30 is a reminder that although God's people are rebellious, and there are consequences for rebellion, the Lord is gracious and merciful. "Therefore the Lord waits to be gracious to you, and therefore he exalts himself to show mercy to you. For the Lord is a God of justice; blessed are all those who wait for him" (Isaiah 30:18 ESV). The Lord allows adversity and afflictions, but He will not hide His face forever (Isaiah 30: 20). Praise the name of the Lord!

Re: weekly check-in question; what I know about God's character today that I didn't know on day 1, is that He has standards. There is a right and there is a wrong. He detests sin.
At some point in my life I fell into the trap of letting anything slide, of allowing all sorts of people in my life under the guise that I was being 'unconditionally loving', and it invited so much darkness into my life and I didn't have a sense of right or wrong. It meant that for my life before Christ, I felt unsafe in my body because I wasn't enforcing any boundaries with people; any sin could trespass into my territory and I didn't know what to do with it. I actually thought something was wrong with ME for not being able to handle all sorts of darkness in people.
And so it gives me SO much comfort and healing to know that God HAS STANDARDS. He has boundaries. Not just anyone can be let into the tabernacle; priests had to consecrate themselves (and many more examples). I see this as a metaphor for the people I let into my life now.

If the reading today did not identify Judah as the recipients of the text, one would and could apply its teaching to governing bodies today. Arrogant prideful leaders today push their ideologies and unproven assumptions on the common masses without care and concern. "So then, the word of the Lord to them will become:
    Do this, do that,
    a rule for this, a rule for that;
a little here, a little there-
    so that as they go they will fall backward;
they will be injured and snared and captured" (Isaiah 28:13). Listening to, and observing the "rules" and "actions" of state and national leader as they ignore truth, demonstrates the evil they have become slaves of. It seems that every decision made by leaders produce negative results; therefore, "they stagger when seeing visions,
    they stumble when rendering decisions.
All the tables are covered with vomit
and there is not a spot without filth" (28:7b-8). God's sovereignty can also be seen today as Believers unite and revival can be observed throughout the US, North America, and Europe. May we continue to humble ourselves and seek God's will for each of our lives.

This is the reply of the Holy One of Israel: “Because you despise what I tell you and trust instead in oppression and lies, calamity will come upon you suddenly- like a bulging wall that bursts and falls. In an instant it will collapse and come crashing down. You will be smashed like a piece of pottery- shattered so completely that there won’t be a piece big enough to carry coals from a fireplace or a little water from the well.” This is what the Sovereign Lord, the Holy One of Israel, says: “Only in returning to me and resting in me will you be saved. In quietness and confidence is your strength. But you would have none of it. So the Lord must wait for you to come to him so he can show you his love and compassion. For the Lord is a faithful God. Blessed are those who wait for his help. O people of Zion, who live in Jerusalem, you will weep no more. He will be gracious if you ask for help. He will surely respond to the sound of your cries. But the people of God will sing a song of joy, like the songs at the holy festivals. You will be filled with joy, as when a flutist leads a group of pilgrims to Jerusalem, the mountain of the Lord- to the Rock of Israel.

    VERSES WORTH MEDITATING ON:
    ‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭28:9‭-‬10‬ ‭KJV‬‬
[9] Whom shall he teach knowledge? and whom shall he make to understand doctrine? them that are weaned from the milk, and drawn from the breasts. [10] For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little:
    ‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭28:13‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
[13] But the word of the Lord was to them, “Precept upon precept, precept upon precept, Line upon line, line upon line, Here a little, there a little,” That they might go and fall backward, and be broken And snared and caught.
    ‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭28:16‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
[16] Therefore thus says the Lord God: “Behold, I lay in Zion a stone for a foundation, A tried stone, a precious cornerstone, a sure foundation; Whoever believes will not act hastily.
    ‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭29:11‭-‬13‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
[11] The whole vision has become to you like the words of a book that is sealed, which men deliver to one who is literate, saying, “Read this, please.” And he says, “I cannot, for it is sealed.” [12] Then the book is delivered to one who is illiterate, saying, “Read this, please.” And he says, “I am not literate.” [13] Therefore the Lord said: “Inasmuch as these people draw near with their mouths And honor Me with their lips, But have removed their hearts far from Me, And their fear toward Me is taught by the commandment of men,
    ‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭30:15‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
[15] For thus says the Lord God, the Holy One of Israel: “In returning and rest you shall be saved; In quietness and confidence shall be your strength.” But you would not,
    ‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭30:18‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
[18] Therefore the Lord will wait, that He may be gracious to you; And therefore He will be exalted, that He may have mercy on you. For the Lord is a God of justice; Blessed are all those who wait for Him.
    ‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭30:21‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
[21] Your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, “This is the way, walk in it,” Whenever you turn to the right hand Or whenever you turn to the left.
