    Hello from Vilnius. I have to agree with you that Vilnius is a very safe place. I've been living here for many years and I thought there's a big criminality rate until I went to London and Barcelona. These were two places in my whole life that someone tried to rob me and then I understood that the place where I live is really safe as there were not a single case when someone tried to rob me or to make harm in any other way.

    • @TomSolfester
      @TomSolfester  5 лет назад +3

      I felt that Vilnius was safe during my entire 2-3 days there! Definitely a stark difference from other major European cities! 🙏🏼😁🇱🇹

      @@TomSolfester But use Uber next time or call a taxi (or use app)when travelling from an airport as 12 euros might look cheap for you, but if fact you could have traveled for at least twice cheaper.

      @Fonas Have you been at the bus station? I was robbed two times in my whole live and that happened near Vilnius bus station. Both times. At First I lost my wallet, after while I lost my phone. Also I know people who also lost money or something in that shity place. So many gypsies, eastern slavs, junkies, sluts there. You need to be very careful. Of course Vilnius generally is safe place, but there is some places like bus/train station where you need to watch yourself. I can't believe it Šimašius doesn't do anything. He's mayor, isn't he?! It's shame of Vilnius. Many tourist came by bus or train..

    I think that Vilnius is one of the few places in Europe where it's a pure European experience. I'm personally not a fan of multiculturalism, especially like it's shoved down the throat in western Europe. That's what I love about the city ant the country as a whole. It's a true European experience. I moved here a few years ago and didn't look back.

    • @TomSolfester
      @TomSolfester  5 лет назад +4

      Looking back, I completely agree with you! Vilnius has its own distinct way of showing your Europe that’s not “in your face” and dramatised. Loved my visit! Thanks for watching Simon! 🙏🏼😁

    • @TimmmTim
      @TimmmTim 5 лет назад

      Well it's only so not-multicultural because nobody really wants to live there, right? I mean, the reason why most of Europe is so diverse is that is so rich. You also probably moved there because of a job, right?

    • @crabLT
      @crabLT 5 лет назад +17

      @@TimmmTim No Europe is so multicultural because it social policy in the western part. Japan is rich, Korea is rich and they are the least multicultural places in the world. People in the west have a cultural, identity and political crisis. The have zero faith in their own culture that's why they are so multicultural. It's like a slow spreading cancer.

    • @rds7516
      @rds7516 5 лет назад +6

      Your comment is kind of correct and not at the same time. Lithuania historically was very ethnically and culturally diverse, traces of it still exist today - Lithuania had many cultures within itself, with Baltic, Germanic, Slavic, Jewish and Muslim being the most prevalent, and they did have an impact on the Lithuanian culture as a whole. Nowadays Lithuania isn't that diverse anymore because of historical reasons, but yeah, we don't blow multiculturalism out of proportion.

    Thank you for a nice review of this small country. I will put my few cents. Foreign tourists often refer to this country as "obscure place, not popular by tourists" however this is not true. You see, you got yourself an easy connection from fankfurt, convenient transport around the city, you had a choice of pretty nice hotel and you had food and coffee on every corner. Obscured countries do not have all that, or maybe not on that level. In spite tourists (that come in numbers) often refer to Lithuania as not touristy place, this country receives over 4 million tourists a year, which is a million more than the population here. Yes France and Spain get way more tourists but they have population of 40 - 60 million people, Lithuania has just under 3 million. So tourism per capita here is just as normal as anywhere in europe (or close to that). It is not overwhelming but definitely not obscured. The country boasts international tourism centers in more than 60 cites and towns which is enormous for a small country. There is wide range of hotels at all tastes. wifi and mobile network covers 90% of the territory, which is more than in many other countries. There are 3 international airports. People speak English in all service places. I think it is pretty touristy and developed for a size of this place. Apart of that your video is amazing, thank you so much:-)

    I'm sorry to see that as a local, but you probably been scammed by a taxi driver, normal price to get to the center is 4-6 eur with taxi (from airport to the city center, because airport is pretty much in the city). You can also use uber or bolt(uber alternative) apps, it's probably cheapiest and easiest way. :)

    • @TomSolfester
      @TomSolfester  5 лет назад +2

      I don’t think this was a scam, but thank you for shedding light that your countrymen try to scam foreigners.. Was trying my best to show the best sides of Vilnius and it’s people.. Airport taxis are always more expensive in all major cities around the world (we all know that), with Vilnius being the cheapest I’ve experienced so far. ✌🏼😁

      @@TomSolfester maybe this wasn't a scam, but old taxi drivers in the airport were a problem here in Vilnius for a long time, howewer I really recommend to use uber or bolt app, it willl be cheaper, you will always get a report by email about travel time, price etc. and will not need any cah. Have a nice trip here in Vilnius, hope you will like it ! :)

    • @HarumashimaLT
      @HarumashimaLT 5 лет назад +2

      Nr 1 rule here is DO NOT use local airport taxi in Vilnius. It's been a huge problem here for a very long time and even city mayor can't properly deal with them. If you see an old taxi guy at the airport with a cigarette between his teeths and you hear russian radio playing in his car just run away from him cuz you will definetely be scammed. Just use Uber next time.
