- At the release of Top Gun: Maverick, Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 released a DLC with a set of difficult challenges. You know.. for people who saw the movie and felt the need... The need for.. forget it.. There are 5 low altitude training routes featured in the challenge, and the goal is to fly though it as low and as fast as possible.
At each checkpoint your average altitude and the time it took to reach it is measured, impacting your overall score. But who cares, just go fast and work on those foreign relations.
If you beat my scores, leave it in the comments so i can proceed to bang my head on the table trying to beat it again.
I'm using Track IR to track my head movement. The footage is captured in 2560x1440p with a GEFORCE RTX 3070 at 60fps. I'm also using the Thrustmaster T16000 HOTAS for flight controls. The music in the intro/outro is from Epidemic Sound. The Top Gun soundtrack is in-game, however i did my best to cut to the good parts without disrupting the flow of the music.

Wait was that the in-game soundtrack? The begining reminds me so much of Microsoft Flight 2012. I miss that game a lot.
For the intro and outro, no, but the Top Gun soundtrack during the flights were in-game. I got the music from Epidemic Sound.

How did you get the G meter on your external camera ? Great flying!
Thank you! For me.. it was just there, but that's not a very helpful response.. lol. So I do know that not all planes have a G meter available, but the F-18 included with the game should have it. I found that if you go into your options under 'assistance options', hit the drop down for "user experience". Under that you'll find two settings for "instrument heads-up display", one for the cockpit cam and one for the chase cam (external view). Your options for the chase cam are OFF, MINIMAL and FULL. If you have it set to full like me, and we're flying the same F-18, you should be able to see see G-meter. But I don't think there are any settings to manipulate the G-meter or any other individual meters on the HUD.
