Let me know what other flight path or different plane you'd like to see!!
@@MH-qb9ev Roger!! Hopefully won't drop to low after the runway
The F-52
You should do a straight line flight from Reykjavik, Iceland, to Cairns, Australia in the Darkstar
hahaha that would be insane ! I like it
@@MH-qb9ev at FL2750
There's something so beautifully peaceful when you finally get it to the edge of space at Mach 10. In VR it's an absolute treat to look out on the planet with the stars above you and the bright lit earth below 🌐❤️
Damn, I'd love to try the VR out! I'd say it's so nice...even how chilled and quiet it is
@@GCMGaming definitely worth a shot! The aircraft is quite loud the whole way up but once you hit the edge of space the music takes over and it's just this beautiful serene environment
Wait is it a bad idea to use scram jets at 15k?
@@whitezebra7755 in real life yeah, But in the simulator you stole somehow got oxygen to keep them functioning 😂
@@blaster915 I mean the plane is probably several billions of dollars so there’s probably oxygen being supplied to the pilot from tanks in the plane
at mach 9, a significant portion of the lift is the earth curving away from you.
Wow i never thought of it that way
Yeah that could probably do a quite a bit of lift at that speed but it wouldn’t be entirely lift anymore.
it starts to be a Mix of forces at higher speeds the earth is pretty large like really large. Like 25,000 miles around large and Mach 1 is 750mph. M9 is 6,900mph so it could do a round trip in about 3.6 hours
the escape velocity of earth is like Mach 30 (23018mph) so that probably be like just a bit to slow to get any really strong effect from the curve he’d need to go faster then it be like when you go over a hill or a bump really fast and you get that feeling of floating but it would be continuously like you were in space.
density and pressure probably would be a closer hypothesis. The faster you go in a fluid like air A lot of properties shrink and grow exponentially like drag and the way the high and low air pressure bubbles interact with the wing and grows bigger and stronger. The fluid gets “thicker” too because your hitting more particles and they can’t get out of the way fast enough some airplane can fly with only one wing if they go fast enough in any direction and earths curve is said to be different because it’s bulged at the equator. high speed missiles probably feel the almost like antigravity centripetal force effect from it the curve
Your answer is pretty good one definite like👍
that’d be awesome to see someone do that flight they be like a comet flying across the sky
Yeah for sure. I calculated it for the SR-71 once and I think it was like 5% or something like that.
Truthfully though.. the drag would be so great that endurance would be measured in minutes and the aircraft wouldn’t be usable again (the SR-71 needed fuel not because it leaked.. but because it took a significant amount just to get airborne; the X-15 was nearly destroyed in its world record flight; and the shuttle required months of post flight servicing to be ready again). This is why most concept hypersonic aircraft usually fly a ballistic arc mostly outside of the atmosphere.
That was a very daring takeoff when you went full throttle before completing the turn...impressive
Lol I kinda messed up and then had to commit 😂
Really love this hypersonic lawn dart
It is cool isn't it!
Is this for PS4 ?
@@weworks7811 no
@@weworks7811 sadly no...it's Microsoft..so Xbox or pc
@@GCMGaming :(
I love the little detail of the heating up of the leading edges
Ye it's awesome and a night flight the glow is insane!
I love how accurate the ground is. At ~25:30 you can see a reservoir. That's Tuttle Creek reservoir at Manhattan Kansas where my mother lives.
Oh we all know where your mother lives! (Sorry, couldn't resist...)
Landing on the displaced threshold and like a rock. Love it
At those speeds the rotation of the Earth would appear going backwards since you’re traveling faster than the Earth’s rotation.
That spirit air landing was very jfk 👍🏾
🤣🤣 wasn't it just!!
5:10 love how the game despawns another Darkstar halfway through its landing... 😂
It's the Chinese one 😂
How fast you're running when you're late for school be like:
Oof..😂🤡
The Lake Michigan part was amazing, brings back memories!!!
when did u see Lake Michigan from the stratosphere?
@@vtjake3761, 30:00.
After the inverted dive to gain speed, you can then reach mach 3 if you keep ascending at the right angle, so there is no need for a second dive to turn on the scramjets. It just takes some practice and slow movements to keep the energy. Try it out! Nice vid bro, this plane is addictive!
Ye I've just began to start hitting the invert right enough... Was just more practice. It's so addictive 😂
There is also no need to invert. I never do.
I love the sound how the engines start up, eerie...
Starting that aircraft sounded like an air raid siren for a moment lol
Once you're up at around 125,000 Ft. shut-down the turbofans and hit the ignition of the Scramjet. Retract your wings at about 7500MPH and put the juice to your engine, get ready for escape velocity and retrorocket firing once you're in that balance with gravity. By now you should be navigating by geomagnetics or your "blind-guidance" system. And don't forget to tell Ant May hello for me, I ain't seen her for 30 years!
Ant may 😂
@@GCMGaming Alright, Aunt "Juni"; from "Spaceship Al".
Probably my favourite flight in the game, flying this beast cross continents. Slowing this thing down is a nightmare tho!
Talk to me, Goose………
I love this plane. It's so fun to fly. Thank you for sharing your video. I see you also get that 'flickering / jitter' near max altitude. I hope they fix that in an update.
I hope they fix it too in update 10!! I get other bugs for sure
@Gideon October especially now with the Halo Pelican 😂
I literally drove Windsor to Toronto today which took almost 4 hrs. Such a pain.
And here, all it took was less than 2 minutes.
Loved it ! Thanks for the video ! I felt like I took a trip to escape stress!
Glad you enjoyed it!
She is a pretty bird. Love the design. Hope we have something like her in real life. Fun to fly too!
Hopefully passenger travel could be this fast in years to come ...in something like this!
My spine felt that landing😂 but good flight!
What a fabulous add on for MSFS
It is not an add on
Great simulation. But I would suggest to lower down the wind noise once you reach the edge of space. Very low density of air molecules up there.
He started up and forgot to turn on the generators, man was on APU power.
Lol yep 😂😂
42:35 Snapped that front landing gear off with that landing lol 😂 Then 6 months of Chiropractor to straighten out your spine 😅
Still visiting the chiropractor since uploading 🤣🤣
very cool
I was driving in this very area by LAX today, how funny…
See any darkstars 😂😂😂
Boy, you sure did that transition the slow way.
A little nitpicky I know, but when tower instructs you to hold short of a runway, you're supposed to stop before the "hold short bars" which are the parallel solid and broken line pairs on the taxiway just before the runway. Doing so lets an aircraft on the runway have plenty of wingtip clearance.
Lol thanks and ye I noticed but I was too far gone 😂😂 with more practice I'll get there lol
@@GCMGaming oh believe me, I’ve done it plenty too! There’s no reversing once you’ve gone too far.

"Just a little...pushh"
25:30 I was thinking; drop the Drone Camera to the Ground to see how fast is looks from there
Check out my next video 😜😉 skip to the end scene of this for recommended video
Damn that was a haaard landing.
Maverick was in a rush
Excellent video... Though on approach, going that fast, if you ever hit a bird, it'd be like a cannonball going through the aircraft..
My approach and landing all need work 😂😂 off camera landings I'd be dead 100x over 😂😂
But thanks haha
I hear ya. Keep em comin’ brother 🙏🏻
Have a safe flight
29:22. If you look at the ground at the center of the leading edge of the right wind you see a vague triangular shape. That’s my hometown!
Very cool. I know that seeing right in front of you isn't needed in a plane like this, but I think I would be very uncomfortable with visibility like this 😂
Check out my cockpit only flight 🤣 it's nerve racking trusting the instruments only
29:32 Peoria and Normal-Bloomington, Illinois, with Chicago in the background.
"Just a little push...."
Thats some real hard landing lol
can u only imagine what life would be like on earth, if anybody could cruise around it at mach 10?
It'll be interesting to see what would happen if you went that fast 1000ft from the ground and what that would do to the surface..
How do you get the lading guides (the blue squares) at 39:48
Pause> assistance options> then under navigation aids tick easy or select and pick which ones you want.
I think we stick our heads out the window to see ahead.
Only in the stratosphere though! No oxygen mask either
Ryanair will hire you for that landing! 1400 fpm is really daring ^^
They didn't though, Said it was too much for them
@@GCMGaming are we talking about the same airline? 1200 is bare minimum judging by all the videos online xD
Imagine being in a commercial flight from LAX to JFK under 50min, would cost a fortune but cheaper in the future because of inflation
One day!!
How do you get moving AI traffic as shown at 4:47?
Not a feature I ticked or anything...just seemed to be that way. Although it's like a mix of AI and live players it seems!
I have yet to try and land this thing!
What is MSFS 2020 I know there is a Microsoft Flight Simulator but what is this "special version" you are referring to?
Can you do a video in which you are in cockpit view all the time? With the darkstar please
Lol I was actually planning that one already.....not looking forward to that landing 😂😂
Short flight for long distance
Hypersonic 🤣 if only we could travel like this
How do you actual start from any airport with this jet the only option I have is the maverick menu from Cali to Florida
Make sure the entire oack is downloaded..but under aircraft selection it's there. But do make sure in content manager all is downloaded
Remember do NOT exceed Mach 10.
Lol why 🤣
@@GCMGaming otherwise you’ll end up like Maverick. And you might not be lucky enough to land in a restaurant to grab a glass of water.
@@raymondyee2008 🤣🤣
First thing dude did was blow through the hold short line lol. Immediate runway incursion
Lake Michigan is so Big
4:54 You are past the hold short line as the other aircraft departs the active runway.
Maverick does what he wants
Were you able to select this particular flight in freeplay via the World Map?
Yep same as normal and then select the aircraft.
@@GCMGaming oh ok I only tried it briefly on release date of the Top Gun updates and it was only available in the set activities. Some channels said that it was disappointing that it wasn't available on World Map. So I assume an update was done in the last week and it is on there now?
@@SamiCetinSMK I'm sorry, I'm not the person you were talking to.
I was able to select Dark Star and fly anywhere on the world map. Please try it.
@@Rzeru much appreciated, I tried it already. I just hadn't played for a little while and didn't realise that they updated it in the world map so quickly. Thanks again.
@@SamiCetinSMK No problem, my sky friend.
We hope you enjoy the beautiful dark blue sky border colors at Dark Star.
Fly Safe!
What is the range of Darkstar on a single tank of fuel? Can you fly Darkstar non-stop from Los Angeles to Manila specifically from LAX to NAIA(Ninoy Aquino International Airport)?
So fully loaded says 2500NM ...but can fly with unlimited fuel or make fuel stop
@@GCMGaming If you decide to fly Darkstar in MSFS from Los Angeles to Manila, you can stop to refuel in Honolulu, HI.
@@MrAnimeMilitary I like it ..stay tuned my friend!!
@@GCMGaming Looking forward to it. A direct flight from Los Angeles to Manila on a Boeing 747 takes about 14 hours. It takes longer if you stop over to refuel in Hawaii. I want to see how long Darkstar will do the trip at Mach 10 even if it mean refueling in Hawaii. Shoutout from Metro Manila, Philippines!
@@MrAnimeMilitary So it takes 1hr and 52 mins with a fuel stop in Hawaii....video now up :D
How are you operating ramjets in space? There are a lot of things here that don't add up.
I feel the whole thing is full of questions without answers 😂😂
@@GCMGaming it's a cool model though. It'd be great to see it at mach 9 under more believable parameters 😆
@@ScreamingElectron agreed!! Does take away from the SIM a little bit but nice once in awhile to have fun and see how quick 'long' flights can be haha
The thing is not in space, if you note the equivalent airspeed meter it reads ~500 knots during cruise, so the aircraft is encountering the same dynamic pressure as it would get going 500 knots on the deck, i.e. quite substantial. The air may be very thin at 275000 feet, but the plane is going so fast that it rams into more of it per second.
5900X 3080Ti 32G usually most missions frame rate is about 30~70 ish. But only this Darkstar mission keeps show 7~9 Frame rate. Any idea why for my computer or settings ???
not sure I can help as I am playng on the Xbox Series X
how come me the plane works well only on the Darkstar maverick flight but if i go world map to have fun anywhere i start on a runway the plane bugs alot as soon i start to roll? I dont get it
Bugs out for me too, at the max altitude sometimes..coming into land it just freaks out. Hoping an update will fix.
Definitely a Bug..I also faced the same issue..It only works properly during the challenge...
@@hurricane1152 will have to try this!!
nice vid
Thanks
Do you have a stick and rubber pedals?
not yet, still using the xbox controller
The time it took to taxi you could have been over Vegas already
How do you pushback? (On xbox with controller) TIA
Well you can setup a shortcut on the controller if you want ...but I just plug in a small USB wireless keyboard and run a shortcut on that. Honestly so much easier to have a keyboard plugged in whilst still using the controller full time!
why do you need to invert the plane at the beginning of Mach 9+ sequence?
Take it with a pinch of salt as im no expert 🤣 but I'm thinking that hard pull down increases speed and as you re-invert yourself it like slingshots you so you can reach Mach 3 ..... Although it isn't a fully real plane so I've hit Mach 9 without inverting. Just got 60k ft then nose dived and pulled up.
The engine inlets are not efficient enough to enable supercruise below mach 1.5. You have to go into a dive to get to M.1.5 and then the engines can get you to mach 3.0 when you switch over to Scram jets.
@@desertsoldier41 nice explanation, thx
A more technical aspect, as you go close to the critical mach number (the mach 1.0 till mach 1.65~) the drag increases exponentially, to the point where you need afterburners to maintain such speeds in normal operations. The transition between mach 1 and 2 is the most critical part in the entire flight, since the air intakes are not made for that speeds, the engine power and the aircraft just doesn't handle well, so by doing the dive method you'll convert the stored energy (from altitude) to power to bypass that problem.
About going inverted, two reasons, G forces and efficiency; Because humans can tolerate much more positive g forces than negative, you'll roll inverted at that speed, so that's one reason.
Second is, as you go down, you're not cutting more air from the intakes (which are not very effective at that speeds as i said), so you'll have more thrust as well.
As you reach mach 2.3 and above, you can turn off the afterburners and you'll notice that the darkstar "feel at home" around mach 3, you'll notice the huge power increase because the intakes are now working way better, and the engines as well, you can even remain there without afterburners as long as the fuel allows, but you'll re-enable the afterburners to reach the speed needed to enter the scram mode (mach 3.6 and above), and after this point it's easy as to toggle two switches and simply go.
Remember that, this plane is made to be around very high speeds, so anything lower, it'll behave mostly unconsistent and unpredicteable, as you might know, landing this thing is a nightmare.
@@MrTrevisol4 The inverted dive is also due to load factors. Planes are generally built to be able to withstand way more positive gs than negative gs, hence why fighter jets also roll inverted when they need to pitch towards the ground quickly. Airfoils also work favorably for positive angle of attacks so it helps.
30:28 No need to look at my house lol
How did you get the wheel to unlock? Mine won't turn at all.
what wheel? As in the parking brake? If so on controller it's left on the D-Pad or in the cockpit its a small toggle switch beside landing gear
@@GCMGaming no it rolls forward just fine. It literally just doesn't turn. Like the f18, but the turn radius button does nothing.
@@kyledavis5228 oh weird.. Never had that happen before. I tend to let it roll forward first then use rudder control to turn
Same here i dont fly the f18 because of that@kyledavis5228
Hit the ground like a fucking dead weight ahah
How do you activate those blue guidelines?
In the assistance panel of the menu....search 'ribbon'
now after flying this thing every other plane feels like its crawling...
Absolutely!!
I’m not sure how realistic it is to be in the mesosphere and still have functional scramjets
Wooow
Nice Mine Craft planet down there 😅
Right 🤣🤣🤣
Imagine if a lot of airlines wanted to own this plane??
I'd travel in it 😂
@@GCMGaming Same here lol
Wow, first aircraft with a reverse gear.
how did you manage this without it glitching all over the place
Luck of the draw with this flight...other flights it glitches for me....has actually also crashed my xbox right to the home screen!
pretty sure this whole thing is 10x off specs and defying many laws of physics and the flight was not done to spec in 40 ways but I only watch a few sporadic minutes
Turn on unlimited fuel, and fly from LAX to LAX on a 090 heading nonstop
That landing......
Drop it like a rock
Extremely unrealistic.
ATC is not screaming at you every 0.5 seconds for over 250kts under 10k feet
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I tried the Darkstar and I can't even get it to take off. Once I hit 10 knots is starts to veer all over the place, eventually crashing into something. I haven't modded the sim in any way and my other aircraft fly just fine
Sounds bizarre... But then I may not be surprised. Some are having issues with this, I feel they need to update soon as there's a lot of bugs. Just make sure when taking off you're full at mil-SIM (60%) , try stay straight and then lift off at around 170-180. Try offline mode too
Is there a trick to this jet because i stall at 40,000 feet and can’t get past that.
Definitely persevere haha....but you gotta get Mach 3 to initiate scam jet. Really lazy way is climb to 35k ft then invert down flip and start to pull up at 17k ft and at 15degrees rotation and climb you'll hit Mach 3 and scram will kick in
400 knots at 3000ft after takeoff…. There goes your license lol
No worries if you've got no license to begin with 🤣🤣
Chuck Yeager in the air. Harrison Ford on the ground.
Lol
4:31 that rwy excursion was bad
Nellis to Cape Canaveral would have been a more realistic flight
How fast could I travel if my super military super aircraft had eleven engines. "Pulse Detonation Wave Engines."
Speed of light stuff here 😂😂
how can you go backwards? it somehow cant do it
Keyboard shortcut but can setup through the menu ...search 'taxi' or 'push back'
Are we there yet

No sonic boom huh.....
How do you pushback
ive added 'shift + p' as my pushback. you can change this in controls
why did you say 9+ if you went 10+? i think that would have garnered slightly more views
