- There are a lot of weird ways to play Fallout New Vegas. You could restrict yourself to the worst weapon in entire game, put no points into the relevant SPECIAL Stats or Skills, and play through New Vegas on the hardest difficulty without healing. Can You Beat Fallout New Vegas As A Necromancer? (in text form)
No. Of course you can’t. Don’t be stupid, that’s a dumb idea. I feel comfortable saying that because of how incredible the original idea was. See, what I was gonna do was use a mod to let me have both an infinite number of companions and the ability to make anyone a companion. The mod entitled JIP Companions Command & Control seemed to fit the bill with it’s option for so-called “Unlimited Companions” but it actually caps out at 16, which is countless orders of magnitude lower than what I needed. The plan was to make Easy Pete my companion, then every time he died, I’d spawn in 2 more to take his place. When they died, 4 would replace them, then 8, then 16, then 32, until hopefully I had more than 1,000 Easy Petes in the greatest army ever conceived. Unfortunately it was not meant to be.
But I liked the idea so much that I dug its lifeless corpse out of the dumpster I left it in and mangled it around inside my head box until something usable grew out of it. Then I got it. I play as a Necromancer, one of those dark magic guys that can bring people back from the dead. It’d be like the Companion Only video, except I my only companions will be corpses. Where the Necromancer part comes in is that I use the Resurrect command on any dead creature, make it my companion, and when it dies, it’s gone for good. This probably isn’t the best concept for a “Can You Beat” video, but it’s what I came up with on short notice. The Dead Space playthrough I finished earlier this week turned out to be far more mentally exhausting to write a script for than I anticipated, most likely due to how linear the game is.
Anyway, my SPECIAL Stats were aimed at increasing the Nerve of my companions which is based on your Charisma, being able to take damage, and get skill points. Despite the points put into Charisma, I was not going to rely on Speech to complete the game. My soulless puppets would have to carry me to the finish line. My first stop outside of Doc Mitchell’s house after selling my trash and noticing that a Bighorner can be a possible companion was the road leading to Sloan. There’s a couple dead guys out by an RV that God left there just for me. Thanks Todd, you’re the best.
It’s Christmas in July in the Mitten Squad household. Believe it or not, there were actually 3 lies in that sentence. A Powder Ganger killed his brother, I brought a Caravan Guard back from the dead, played around with the menu system, it’s kind of intimidating at first but once you learn how to use it it ain’t so bad. Also, I set the difficulty to Very Hard to make up for the fact that I could have up to 16 companions at once. Shoot the barrels, interrupt an argument, negotiate with the people who don’t know they’re secretly my hostages, and let the battle for Goodsprings begin. I’d left my Power Ganger at Jean Sky Diving because, at this point in the playthrough, I wasn’t sure if the factions a companion is a part of would have any impact on how I interact with other factions. Like if I had a Legion companion, would an NCR Trooper attack me on sight? No, that’s another stupid question. They don’t without the mod, why would they with it?

A lot of people think Mitten Squad suffering makes these challenge videos better but he seemed like he was genuinely enjoying this one and it's honestly more fun to watch then a lot of the other ones
This was the "can you beat this" I didn't even think was possible and loved it immediately great stuff

Because the whole point of Benny's plan was to try and remove Mr. House from his "throne" and rule New Vegas himself. In a way Paul granted Benny his wish even in death. Feels pretty cool to me.

mitten squad doesn't live in a house, a traditional one anyways. they live in a skoolie, which is a converted school bus into a mobile home like a totally custom rv, and with it, travels all over the country. doesn't even live in michigan. he hates the cold and actually stays in more southern states.

Edit: I made the comment (seen below this edit) right when the video was released, fully expecting to see many comments about how this wasn't a "real challenge" because of mods and console commands. The reception to this video has been the opposite, for which I am grateful. I might do more "creative" challenges like this one going forward, I'm entirely sure anymore.

Before anyone freaks out, this sort of challenge based around a mod isn’t something I’m planning on doing a lot more of in the future, unless it’s like the New California mod that acts as its own game/story. Or maybe mod challenges on Mitten Prime, but not on this channel. I only did this one, as I mentioned early in the video, because it was inspired by another idea that could be described as a “meme” playthrough. The 2nd reason is that I initially planned on this week’s video being of Dead Space, but I didn’t feel like the script for it was coming along the way I wanted it to, so I put it to the side for something I new I could turn into a video based on the absurd concept behind it.
Awwww this sounds like a good idea though.
Please do release a Dead Space video where you can kill necromorphs by only punching/stomping or by only using telekinesis

I always like thinking of Paul as this crazy reality bending dude who travels between universes when doing these challenges, setting himself these bizarre rules just because he can. This is such a good video. So many funny parts throughout. My personal favorite is when it cuts to Benny limping at the dam. Extremely sad to know that Paul is no longer with us. These videos are his legacy. I for one know that I'll be watching all of them over and over. Rest in peace Paul.

I did a similar play through in Skyrim. I used a mod that let me have unlimited followers and another that let me Raise Dead on every corpse in a certain perimeter. At one point I had over 70 minions.
Pros - leading n army across Skyrim was awesome. Wiping out Holds was easy.
Cons - Indoors activities were zero fun and it took a while for the zombie train to catch up. I had to run back and forth along the line to cluster them.
9/10 fun time though.

Reminds me of my mad scientist playthrough where I used the RobCo Certified mod that allows you to 'repair' dead robots and assemble new, unique ones to create a robot army. It even allowed you to create lobotomites out of dead people if you had all the required parts

Thoroughly enjoyed watching what you did (and subsequently went on a binge watch on your channel). I loved this idea and seeing all the dead wasteland critters get recruited, I hope one day just for fun you will do a run through with an entire undead zoo! Would the resurrect command work on say legendary creatures? Imagine strolling round the Mojave with the Legendary Deathclaw at your back. Have now subscribed as can’t wait to see what you do next.
