How to Geotag Photos For Google My Business for Free

- In this video, you’ll learn how to geotag your photos for FREE online, which is a competitive advantage your Google My Business page and local SEO. Geotagging photos is essentially leaving a piece of meta description within your photo that indicates where the photo was taken. When you take photos with your iPhone, for example, it is automatically geotagging your photos with latitude and longitude coordinates, which then is useful information to find photos taken on your last trip or a certain location.
To geotag your images for Google My Business, you can use the website tool.geoimgr.com/ This video walks you through how I uploaded non geotagged photos to this website and added the geotag data (latitude and longitude values) of my business.
In terms of process, I would suggest that you rewrite the name of your photos first to include keywords relevant to your location and service. Then, you can upload the photos, one by one for free, add the geo tag information and then download from the site. Then your photo will have the geotag information, which you then upload to your website.

If you have already uploaded images to your GMB page, can you retrofit the GEOTag? Of should you just start to do this for all new photos you upload?
So I haven't tried to retrofit, but knowing how RUclips handles stuff as well as other Google products, you'll probably need to just apply this for everything new going forward. If you have to use the previous images, you could maybe reupload them with the GEO tags and just delete the old ones
Excellent video! Two quick questions. Do you think it's enough to Geotag the photo to the City or should you make sure to have your address? I've noticed that when I "save as" a photo from Google My Business that I already Geotagged the Geotag is gone. Since I don't know how to check the Geotag once it's been uploaded I don't know if the tag is being removed during upload or when I copy it back to my desktop, do you know what's going on? Should you always geotag to your business? I work for a real estate company and if I am uploading photos of listings, should I be geotagging our office or the location of the listing?

@@johnlendrum9292 you can't currently do that for videos in the same way you do it on photos But you can add the area in the description tag

that's correct! I made this video when trying to optimize my GMB listing. I'm not sure if it works with websites themselves as I haven't come across articles mentioning to do this

Great video! Would you recommend tagging the location of your business or surrounding areas or doing some of each?
if you don't try, you'll never know. If you have the time, I'd try both. I'm not sure which would be more effective, and I'm not sure who could tell you this with certainty. But it sounds like a good thing to try for a local business especially if competition is lower in surrounding areas
My advice would be to follow the natural path if you want to have long term SEO benefits.
If your photos are products that are only ever seen in your business location then it makes sense to locate then there.
Or a restraint serving food with eat in only...all photos would be in one location
However, If you are an a takeaway restaurant you would see local GPS on the reviews from neighbouring roads and nearby houses.
Just follow whats natural to your business

It's not exactly for free so some false advertising there... only 5 images are so called free then you have to pay a monthly subscription fee. Anyone know of a site thats completely free to use for multiple images??
With GmB posts. On one account my posts are showing up fine when checking them on Google. On another, it seems the images are not. Any idea why?
I have done a number of posts already for this account but now this started happening. I cand post content, but no images.
So I did a quick Google and it seems that this might be an issue for some. Apparently the recommendation was to reach out to their support via social media. Look up GMB support on Facebook/Twitter. Good luck and happy new year!

What if your mobile service and you want to show up with different cities around your area would it still help to Geo tag all the different areas you’re servicing in?
I've never tried for this situation, but your idea follows good practice. You basically want to feed Google more relevant information about your location and service. I don't think it would hurt and it might actually help you become discovered in nearby locations
Mike Miello Thanks. That’s what I was thinking. My dilemma was the city the business is located in doesn’t have enough people to draw from to keep the business running. I need to draw clients from a larger area. This is a topic that I’ve never heard anyone discuss.

Every man and his dog recommends geotagging images.
Google remove pretty much everything. Simply upload a geotagged image to a gmb, then download it. Gone!
Whether Google retains the data and utilises for ranking purposes is the question lot's would love to know the answer to!

Google strips all geotags from images when you upload them. So there is no benefit to doing this.
