About Ingredients:
Join MIT-trained chemist and science educator George Zaidan as he tries to recreate everyday household products like toothpaste, lipstick, or shaving cream using only natural ingredients… and no recipe! He’ll have to decode long lists of intimidating chemical names, figure out what they all do, try and find natural substitutes, and then cook up the do-it-yourself versions in his chemistry lab (kitchen). While George may or may not succeed, we'll all learn something new and surprising about the products we take for granted every day.

This is great! It's funny, educational, and interesting all in one! I'll definitely be watching more of this! Also.. Can you do Chapstick or is that too close to the lipstick one? If it is, then can you do hair conditioner or body wash?
Yup! We're doing hair conditioner later this season. I'll look into chapstick, I think it's pretty much lipstick without the color... but I'll check!
Carmine is in many beauty products, i also saw it in a Tropicana orange juice. Im vegetarian so it bothered me. Lol. Thanks for the info!
Oh yeah and there’s a lot more things than just pig fat too in stuff like lotions…etc

So what's in matte lipstick to make it dry and last so long?
Manufacturers can add ingredients such as Isododecane (I think that's how you spell it) which causes the lipstick to dry quite quickly due to its volatile nature, or they might add kaolin clay due to the oil absorbent properties

The microbeads are probably something not craftable in a kitchen. But shampoo is definitely possible.
