- Emirates Sky Cargo Boeing 747-400 OO-THD DUS - Have a look at this stunning Take-off. There was a very strong head-wind and the plane was almost empty. This was reason why the pilot was able to leave the runway after a few meters. Quite impressive though!! The flight distance was just 120 miles (Düsseldorf - Franfurt)
Emirates Sky Cargo doesn` t fly to Düsseldorf anymore. It` s kinda sad because I was always impressed by these amazing early rotations.

@@CaptainBlaze-qd3qw The 747 is no longer on their fleet :/
Me too!!!
Me to 🙂
Copilot- Bet you can’t take off in under 17 seconds
Pilot - Hold my beer kid
Indeed; About 22 second roll but only 15 seconds of full takeoff power till main gears leave the deck. STOL’s give me a woody. Same aircraft and conditions on a 2000’ strip would = ejaculation.
@@Whatevershappeninginmyhead WHAT?
light load, short flight, perfect wind... result is a very short run
Bro also max power of engine.
I had much the same experience several years ago flying in a Lufthansa 747-400 FRA/DFW with an intermediate stop in ATL. At ATL, there was a crew change, and almost all the passengers disembarked. Out of ATL, I was the only person in first class; there were two pax in business class and a smattering in coach. And probably almost no fuel for the 730 mile flight to DFW. The pilot put the pedal to the metal, and we rolled about five feet before rocketing into the air like a fighter jet. In my years of traveling world wide, this was one of the most exhilarating takeoffs I have experienced.
I think 5 feet might me just a really, really, tiny exaggeration. :)
@@seansmith2223 its symbolic…..
Once, as a pre-9/11 flight attendant, I was in the cockpit jumpseat of an empty 757 for a night ferry flight takeoff from MIA to Havana to pick up Cuban immigrants. The captain chose to do a full power takeoff. He set power before brake release and we were on the takeoff run for a few seconds, then airborne and what seemed like straight up! It was awesome!
This 747-400F cargo plane is propably not loaded with any cargo.. so it weights much less
Not to mention the head wind
Bleistift Well yes, but it's still impressive.
Bleistift But it was still very impressive.
Must refuel in air
E type jag That's not gonna be happening, anytime soon.
747 is still my favorite bird.
xanh01 Rather 777 though
Alexandre Soares Junior I like 777 too but 747 to me is a mighty :)
Oh it's true, but u know, 777's engines rock. Both are amazing
My all time favorite and it's a beautiful, elegant plane comparing to A380.
babubhai Yep, the shape of 747 is so unique.
this is insane! 100% throttle and winds pushing the plane or else this wouldn't have been possible! Amazing!
Ah yes, the big styrofoam shipment to Paris on a windy day.
I wish this had happened back in 1977 at Tenerife airport when KLM and Pan am had collided.
@@notused6779 and less powerful engines
Excellent video of an example of just how short a runway a 747 can takeoff from if it really had to -- such as when one lands at the wrong airport and must lighten up to take off from a 1000 meter or 3280 foot runway. Even figuring the 800 meters for the entire roll and some extra just in case.
Those fantastic Emirates' pilots do it again. Thank you for sharing the video.
is very nice to hear children's voices doing great and wow ... the same all over the world ... a plane taking off is pure magic
Wow! So beautiful!
That plane is the sexiest 747 I've ever seen. Especially in the Emirates SkyCargo livery.
He was practicing for the STOL competition held in Valdez, AK that year...
Great video...thank you for sharing!
Great footage of the takeoff! Good work!
Gorgeous!! 😍 ✈️
Some crazy wind there! Awesome video
Epic catch!! One heck of a climb rate .. great video
REALLY AMAZING - I LIKE IT
Real queen of the skies...
+Ariking777 Boeing Fanboy over here lol. A380 is an absolute beast, and so what if it uses a sidestick, those RR Trent 900s are pretty awesome to see. A340 / 747 still the best looking though, and A350/787 too.
Yup, I'm a Boeing fan.
Still, I think the 747 looks better.. the A380 is basically nothing special, only 2 decks, while the 747 has that unique hump. To me, it looks better.
I assume it was empty.
Empty and probably nearly empty for fuel.
Beautiful aircraft, and great HD video!
Stunning video! Cheers from Boston.
Amazing catch!!
WoooooooooW what a amazing video!!! Well done!!
Nice man that was Awesome!!!
The most handsome passenger aircraft ever made !!!
GREAT!! love this video!! ;)
Amazing Video.
1995-97, SZB Int'l Airport: an empty 747-400 freighter (Japan Airlines) performed a short field take off & it sounded like holding take off thrust before brakes release.
Cool night with a storm approaching.
If memory serves me, the take off run was a mite shorter than this one & it climbed away steeper into the cloud base than any 747 I'd seen before.
Very cool. Beautiful aircraft. Thanks for sharing!
Awesome takeoff and climb
OMG that was about a 20 second run up. The power of those engines!!
WoW!! That was like 20 seconds!! When I flew to Maui on a fully loaded 737 IT TOOK FOREVER to get off the ground!!! I was so scared I shouted "Oh NO!! We're too heavy!!" (What an idiot! lol) But that scared the crap out of me!! And I REALLY REALLY wanted to see Maui!!
Oh yea. PS And when it DID finally lift off, I could feel it pulling back down til it finally got enough air under it! Man, THAT was really scary! I don't like that feeling on a roller coaster, either, you know...when your stomach just drops.....?
hahaha your comment made my day XD. I had similiar experiences landing at St Maarten in a B747 not knowing the runway started at a beach, I was looking outside the window seeing nothing but sea and fish, I was like WTF, we gonna crash!!! And the take off was pretty much like yours, we kept falling and falling, kept losing lift... It was terrible, it was my first flight ever (11 years old), now I know better, lol... But that's some funny shit
reconx86 Aww! That must have been scary for you!! Yea I'm sure you weren't checking out YT videos to see that the planes land right over the BEACH ! I couldn't believe it the first time I saw it on YT! And I've never been in an aircraft THAT big but it's all scary when you feel your stomach drop out!! o_O
You were so young to get to go to St Maarten but I hope you have some great memories!! What a beautiful place. (I saw it on YT. lol) Take care. XD
Why has your comment got loads of "A" in it?
oliscouser If I knew what your "A" stood for, I might be able to tell you.
vegasjill21 I think oliscuser was referring to CAPS
Beauty and the beast in one body!
That DC-10 is amazing. :D
Wow. That was an early rotation!
very cool- nice video-
Nice catch!!!
Like it!!
It's not the pilots fault.. but The head wind made the aircraft to puush-up quickly and yeah Emirates is the BEST!!!
Emirates is owned by a Military Dictator.

Great catch of takeoff!
Sweet!
Some of those giant birds (AFR A340 & KLM B744) at SXM (Princess Julianna, St Maartens), even with somewhat full pax will purposely depart with almost fumes-only tanks just to make that required sharp right-hand departure. Then they land at some island airport like Pt-a-Pitre to fill the tanks for the long return to their Europe airport (CDG or AMS, respectively).
With proper trim for a smooth lift off, without tail striking, those experienced big-birders know how to do it right (and probably humming till after they've well on their way).
Those freight cowboys (dont know any air freight cowgals) are really crazy. I remember seeing a UPS 74F pilot make a short 180 degree on to short approach KPHL 27L. I couldnt believe my luck seeing that. Those were pre-cellphone & I dont recall seeing any of those large Bolex cams near me. I certainly didnt have mine with me. The FAA agent I was chatting with was high-fiving me with our good fortune to witness that feat. He is stationed at KPHL and told me that was his first 744 180 short approach landing view. We were like two kids watching some airplane acrobatic. It was wonderful! I was hoping there werent any other breathing critters, like horses or someone's neurotic kitty), aboard that UPS roller coaster.
In this capture it is too bad the videographer didnt have a wind-suppressor on his mic.
Great vid however.
Excellent camera work!
Flipping Heck thats amazing!
You Can't Bet The Boeing 747's Beautiful Planes
I love that thing! ✈️
Una maravilla ya me toco viajar..con esta aerolinea
is it possible ? yes , if airplane is not loaded , first this is not passenger airplane so there are no seats to add extra weight for airplane , so we can not judge until we know the configuration and weight and fuel weight , but generally its possible if we supposed that weight with zero fuel is 224.5 ton , the normal takeoff speed of boeing 747-400 is 160 knt , depending on newton laws its require 900meter to gain rotation speed , but in all cases rotation speed depends on weight and temp and altitude pressure of airport , and because we have no information about all of these we can not judge , but in my point yes its possible
雪女神 thrust rating depends on type of engine 747 uses 3 types of engines 2 roles royes and 1 GE , each one generate different thrust
Engine testing perhaps
You forgot about wind. There was probably a very strong headwind
Duskyness123
Right! No surprise at all.

Nice one!
Thats insane!
Awesome :))
Wow that was really really short! Liked!
That's NOT what she said. OK I'll go back in hiding..
Even though, this plane was almost empty, with a small fuel load, and a strong head-wind, it still reminded me of the crazy National Airlines 747 crash. That 747, had a heavy load, that became unsecured, then stalled out.
that was another storie it carried tank onboard and one of them streched out of cables and got unbalanced wich stalled the plane right after it took off , and here we see an empty 747 ( newest model) and powerful engines and strong head-wind , if he didn't do that he will stress the wings and it may crash
Even so, that's still pretty cool that a 747 could perform such a short TO
It was probably nearly empty and you can tell there was a strong head wind.
Great and very nice.
you cant say he took off early the plane was probrably light giving it a shorter take off roll
Amazing
Cool!
That was quick rotation but then again its a 747 baby. The best ever built.
Low load, low fuel, and a strong headwind all helped get that plane airborne quickly. Impressive performance.
wow!! 747 is a great plane
at Maastricht airport (EHBK) we have cargolux unloading at EHBK from their flight from south america , and then flying back to luxembourgh (ELLX) empty. so they also take off that quickly
Nice climb out, by the way! @ 2:39 you see the clouds due to low pressure above the wings, cool!
Awesome.....
wow... very nice vid..
super short take off run even with engine takeoff thrust reduction
Empty...nice catch !
Magnificent giant ❤
Exactly as per the notes. Commercial pilots don't "hot dog" or (literally) "wing it". V1 and V2 are carefully calculated - before takeoff - based on prevailing conditions. Weight makes and enormous difference. The 767-300 I took from Vancouver to Maui needed a huge takeoff run due to the 6 hour flight time (=lots of fuel). The 767-300 I took from Toronto to Halifax (1.5 hour flight time) literally lept off the runway. It's all relative...
good job for the pilot :)
For the first time I'm seeing a 747 with emirates
I'm surprised:)
That was impressive, almost like a DC9 Sport! (DC9 - 21).
For some reason I just don't want to believe it. Haha. Awesome takeoff!!!
Yep, it was empty, a short flight and strong headwinds. Pretty awesome to see too!
Just perfect... :)
That was insane.
good eng and good wing
Emirates is the best aircraft I ever saw
Like a homesick angel....
i counted about 14 or 15 seconds from full thrust to actual rotation, that is freaking incredible for such a large machine!!SMFH!!
Beauty~
A320's my fav, but this bird is too impressive to look away
I wonder whats the irk noise is when the elevator was lifted up.. (V1 Rotate) Someone please.. tq
Awsome
a beautiful machine
If no part of the aircraft hit the ground it was not early

Tower: [callsing], confirm massive tailstrike on the rwy?
Crew: Positive, continuing intentions normally.
Tower: oke.
(FSX In a nutshell)
拍得好好看
Love these old ships they were the hot-rods of the airways... 190 some thousand horsepower as I recall
The air cargo 747 lifted off right as it rotated so it did not rotate too soon. How to tell if a jet rotates too soon?? If it's drags the tail and goes off the end of the runway.
Nice. I'm sure it's empty, but still cool to watch.
weight of airplane, style of take off(short field--engines seems to be powering while staionary) plus strong head wind... as you can observe from the windsock...peace out
Das ist mein Heimat Flughafen Düsseldorf da kommen gute Erinnerungen auf da war die Terrasse am Fernbahnhof noch offen sehr gut gemachtes Video
Yes Moeen I agree. the weight factor is a key point. And probably decides it.
kl
Very light and, as you can tell from the grass, a strong headwind = very short takeoff
Amazing engine sounds taxing and very early rotation takeoff unbelievable
Yes, winglets are sometimes retrofitted to earlier models, but you can still tell a -400 by the blended wing root fairings (and slightly bigger wingspan).
tjf4375 haven't seen that retrofit.
You're right, In fact it says -400F right above the pitot tubes, it's cleary visible @1:17. I've seen freighters with the stretched upper deck although they may well be ex-passengers converted. But I think the winglets are sometimes retrofitted, I don't know if that's an option on a 747.
