I'm from The Netherlands and I love it! Goosepimples, I feel it!!!!! When you read the comments, people from all over the world dig this beautiful outcry. Peace & Love for everybody.
I'm from Canada.... this is exquisite music, it's absolutely timeless, a joy for anyone with ears to experience. There are many people of Indian origin in Canada , particularly in it's west... a welcome addition to our country as they make such a rich cultural contribution.

English translation of the song: Your memory hurts night and day, O beloved Peace eludes me without you Your memory hurts night and day, O beloved Now, grief peeks through (when I see myself in) the mirror Flowers bloom and fall during the separation Who can arrange (for my) Beloved to meet (me) Verbal translation: याद (Yaad, memory) सताये (Sataaye, bothers/hurts), दिन (Din, Day) रैना (Rainaa, Night) मितवा (Mitwaa, Friend/Beloved) हो (Ho, O) मितवा (Your) memory hurts night and day, O beloved आये (Aaye, comes) ना (Naa, not) तुझ (Tujh, you) बिन (Bin, without) चैन (Chain, peace) Peace eludes me without you झांके (peeks through) उदासी (Udaasee, grief/sadness) अब (Ab, now) दर्पण (Darpan, mirror) से (Se, from) बिरहा (Birhaa, separation from beloved) खिल (Khil, bloom) फूल (Phool, flowers) बदरसे (Badarase, fall) Flowers bloom and fall during the separation साजन (Saajan, Beloved) कौन (Kaun, who) मिलाये (Milaye, arrange to meet) Who can arrange (for my) Beloved to meet (me) --------------------------- याद सताये, दिन रैना मितवा हो मितवा आये ना तुझ बिन चैन, आये ना तुझ बिन चैन आये याद सताये, दिन रैना मितवा हो मितवा आये ना तुझ बिन चैन, आये ना तुझ बिन चैन आये झांके उदासी, झांके उदासी अब दर्पण से, बिरहा खिल फूल बरसे साजन कौन मिलाये, साजन कौन मिलाये, मितवा याद सताये, दिन रैना मितवा याद सताये मितवा आये ना तुझ बिन चैन मितवा मितवा मितवा
The amount of control, diaphragm strength, and vocal range it takes to perform this type of song is severely underrated in today’s society. What talent.
Im from Philippines and Im learning Carnatic and Hindustani Music, the voice is like a shining voice, I love how the woman controls her voice, its kinda emotional and I am very satisfied by the music, I never knew Indian music can be like this
I’m Iranian don’t understand a word what she says but there is something magical in her voice that talks to your soul. Every night I listen to this before going to bed Its like a meditation for me. The the tabla and sarangi both are also amazing it’s like she is talking to them and they reply so beautifully the harmony among them is unreal Love it with all my heart

Much love from El Paso, TX 🌵💖

I'm Bulgarian but I feel Indian... I love India and this song makes me cry and remember my days in India.... eagerly waiting to go back and live there ... home
Mimi X. You are welcome to my country. She is singing how a departed lover girl is saying about much day night she is missing her partner. All the emotions are poured in her singing.
I don't understand a bit of what she's singing, but I have tears in my eyes.. incredible.. I promise to train my daughter in Indian classical art forms as my contribution to my country. These people multiply our glory .. they die with a pure heart.. I bow down to each and every person who dedicated their life to classical music.

Thumri's are designed to catch the emotion of love both separation and unification of two lovers. This one is based on the pain of separation between two lovers. The word thumri comes from the word thumkna which basically means to dance. A thumri is designed to make you dance. Fun fact Thumri's can range from devotional to even Erotic emotions. 😅
I am from Canada but with Indian roots and cannot help but feel the music from heart that brings us all together in this beautiful carven called life Thank you

I'm from the Philippines...Indian music is our topic...I just clicked the link...When i listen to other country's song i usually skip it and just watch a little bit..But this song is so good idky I can't skip it..It feels like I'm at the mountain and it gives me chill even if I don't understand the lyrics. No hate.
That is truly amazing to hear. We sincerely hope that this is a beautiful beginning to an everlasting journey into the depths of Indian classical music. 🙏

That's because only people with good taste come here, and with good taste comes good attitude and cultural tolerance. The poison of the internet does not dwell in such beautiful places. We are humanities hope in here.
Oh my goodness, I have never heard music like this. My husband asked me about what I was listening to. I anseered, "It's obvious that her lover is far away and she longs for him so much that it hurts". Well, I had no idea. I was guessing. But that's what I heard in her voice. I can feel this music in my whole body, it's so beautiful. ❤
madamurugam murugam I am sure your intention is pure but it wasn’t logical. She is saying she is loving this classical Indian music as I & you & else do.As she has stated she is not indian she can’t even talk let alone learning Indian music. We all enjoy Indian music but only few can get to the top & it’s ok no body stopping us from enjoying music.
Yes! As a matter of fact she is a student of Begum Parveen Sultana and Ustad Dilshad Khan. I must say you have a really great sense of music as you could correctly identify the similarities in their style.

Some commenters who do not know Hindi have requested translation of lyrics of this Thumri to better appreciate the music. Here is my attempt to translate it in English fro Hindi: "Your thought (memory) haunts me day and night O my friend. I (feel restless) dont get peace without you O mitwa (soul friend). (When I look into mirror) Now-a-days sadness stares back at me. The pain Separation from you rains down from monsoon clouds. Let me be united with my Saajan (soul's ornament). O my beloved soulmate O my Mitwa.

from Pakistan - she is an outstanding vocal singers , when she sings one can feel the loneliness of wife(or lover) waiting for husband (or lover) who has gone far way . If you listen to this thumri at the time of twilight you will than only fully comprehend the gloomy world of lover. I have been listening to it since 2013 ,when ever I listen to it I have same ecstatic experience that I have on the first day .

So beautiful! her clear voice made me fell like in heaven..and the instrumental work is amasing too.. I Adore India, hope some day i could visit it.. Greetings from Republic of Moldova)
3:20 she gives humble acknowledgement of her accompanists mastery of his instrument that he can so perfectly mimic her vocal line, it's astonishing how he is so focused on the ensemble performance.

The amount of control, diaphragm strength, and vocal range it takes to perform this type of song is severely underrated in today’s society. What talent.

Yes actually classical music and dance were treated as an offering to divine and not as an entertainment.
Carnatic ❣️
absolutely right
Her voice sounds like a crystal-clear mountain stream. It just rolls over your ears and into the deepest parts of your soul. So beautiful.
Beautifully explained
But I feel the vocal lacks broad frequency cover.
It is more of mid type.
This may be mic issue also, but that has less chance to occur.

This has been my sleeping song lately. Love from Australia.
same here :)
Ohhh nice
If possible try listening this song in the morning after you wake up ... Because this is a morning raag... You will feel the emotions even more then
The lyrics describing the tension and sorrow of a lover who is separated from lord krishna.

Agreed!
How can you not be wholesome after hearing this gift
That's because only people with good taste come here, and with good taste comes good attitude and cultural tolerance. The poison of the internet does not dwell in such beautiful places. We are humanities hope in here.
Absolutely, felt so good that we as Indians are running for West is Best whereas others are finding solace here.
Beautiful. Well said. This truly is a universal language.
I'm from sri lanka.. i like indian traditional music .. raag i ❤ indian music
M sure sri lankan music is also based on indian raag system of karnatk music ? May be?

I can’t believe the comments here were all so kind and nice! As beautiful as this thumri:)
True usually it's not easy to find so much positivity in a video related to India.
I know! Is the internet broken? I think music does bring out the divinity in all
I'm from Cambodia 🇰🇭 love Indian songs
Hello bong, love to see your love for indian classical music
Well you people are long lost brothers and sisters of India.
Love cambodia
I can listen to her all day... just beautiful ❤️from 🇯🇵
Oh my goodness, I have never heard music like this. My husband asked me about what I was listening to. I anseered, "It's obvious that her lover is far away and she longs for him so much that it hurts". Well, I had no idea. I was guessing. But that's what I heard in her voice. I can feel this music in my whole body, it's so beautiful. ❤
It is true.. You are amazing..
I think that’s what this thumri is actually about too . Bhairavi and mishra bhairavi are very contemplative ragas.
Im from Somalia, but I can swear I was Indian in another life
Come to India learn classical music .....lucknow there is a music college bharatkhande
I agree with you Selma.. reincarnation happens
madamurugam murugam I am sure your intention is pure but it wasn’t logical. She is saying she is loving this classical Indian music as I & you & else do.As she has stated she is not indian she can’t even talk let alone learning Indian music. We all enjoy Indian music but only few can get to the top & it’s ok no body stopping us from enjoying music.
Shift to India and do something good here.
Have u ever been to India?
Her voice keeps on giving chills... just like Begum Parveen Sultana...
Wonderful thumri...
I felt the same. Reminded so much of Begum Parveen Sultana
Yes! As a matter of fact she is a student of Begum Parveen Sultana and Ustad Dilshad Khan. I must say you have a really great sense of music as you could correctly identify the similarities in their style.
Beautiful sounds from India 🇮🇳 Greetings from California, USA
Meka 916 I agree, I’m also from California
Thanks Meka.. greetings and love from India too.

This kind of music evokes the soul of Indian subcontinent. Gracefully performed.
Beautifully put :)
Some commenters who do not know Hindi have requested translation of lyrics of this Thumri to better appreciate the music. Here is my attempt to translate it in English fro Hindi:
"Your thought (memory) haunts me day and night O my friend.

I have been listening to it since 2013 ,when ever I listen to it I have same ecstatic experience that I have on the first day .

its about soul wanting to meet the super-soul (parm-atma, almighty supreme) and singing in virha (separation), like most devotional songs for krishna or parmatma, in Hinduism.
Thanks from India. We are brothers of the same mother: Hindustan/Bharat
She is Wonderful. Her voice sing for whole human of earth. It is lot of Karuna (sorrow and nostalgy) and some shanti (Peace) as well.
jacques Madjar karuna is unconditional compassion
So good and analytic comment. Also shows a care for world civilization. The singer youngwoman appears to be so innocent and loveable.
@jacques Madjar It's more of Viraha (pain of separation), the rasa would be Karuna(sadness being it sthayee bhav) no doubt, @Nishant Singh..
Wow. Yeah. lol. Karuna is not
What you meant.
Karuna means kindness for all.
Feminine vocal perfection. Never listened to classical Indian music but this gave me chills in a good way. Masterpiece.
i love india been there love the people and their life style im from south africa.

It's sad how real talent goes underrated and auto tune stuffs are appreciated....
This music just touches the soul😍😍😍
I think the lyrics mean ; My dearest friend your memories torment me without mercy. There is no peace without you my friend.
You are correct to a great extent.
Replace 'friend' with 'love' and you got it right.
@@miningandhighway7164 Yes, replace everything with love. Never listen. Yay.
