    I always liked the version of Harry deciding to say fuck it and help Peter more in the Editors Cut of Spiderman 3. Its left unanswered whether or not he decides to completely change his mind on if Spiderman did or didn't kill his father but rather he looks at a broken picture of him, MJ, and Peter and through just facial acting you understand that he realizes the friendship he had with Peter is way more important than this feud.

    Why was Doc Oc conducting this untested, extremely volatile fusion experiment in the middle of his New York apartment? He knew he was experimenting with extreme levels of energy, so much so that he described it as no less than a miniature sun. Why do this in the middle of his own apartment in a heavily-populated city instead of some testing facility out in the desert?
    Further more, why did he invite the press over to watch his very first test of it? Shouldn't he be testing and adjusting the experiment based and repeated testing to ensure it's success before he even thinks about bringing the media into it? What if the experiment didn't work (it didn't), what if he needed to calibrate it after the first test didn't work? Even if it didn't end as horrible as it did in the movie, and instead the machine just didn't work, he would still look like an idiot in front of the cameras.

    This video is clear evidence that not only does Doug doesn’t read or get Spider-Man but that he also doesn’t do research on the films he talks about. Sam Raimi is a massive fan of Spider-Man and while these movies made a few changes to streamline things, they are by far the most accurate and faithful film adaptation of the character and his world. A lot of Doug’s criticisms range from not understanding the context (Venom was forced into SM3 by Sonny, not Raimi) or by just not trying to gather what the movies are about (Emo Peter is meant to be cringy and hard to watch. He’s dorky Peter Parker with no inhibitions.) I love Doug as a comedian but as a critic, especially a critic of Comic adaptations, he’s very lacking and honestly doesn’t get what makes certain characters like spidey so compelling.

    What pisses me off the most (for me) was Venom's mistreatment. I was not introduced to spider-man during the arc of the black costume (thank you 90's series) but it introduced me to an entire universe of heroes. I know Venom will be given better treatment in his solo movie.

  • @Laxhoop

    You know, Venom was never meant to be in Spiderman 3. Sandman was always meant to be the only villain. But the studio basically strangled the director to squeeze Venom in, so he did put him in, and as a "f*ck you" to the studio, he made everything concerning Venom suck balls, while everything concerning Sandman was very cool, heartfelt, and deep.

    Correction: In "The Return of The Incredible Hulk" The Hulk only teams up with Thor. Captain America isn't in that movie. Micha might have confused it with "The Trial of The Incredible Hulk" where The Hulk teams up with Daredevil. But again, there's no Captain America in that one, and also no Thor. While there was a made for TV Captain America movie, Lou Ferrigno's Incredible Hulk, Daredevil, and Thor weren't in it.

    These days, I'm pretty ticked with how these movies treated Mary Jane. In the comics, she's freaking awesome! She's not just a damsel in distress, she's actually taken down a couple of villains ON HER OWN!!! Not to mention she was really fun and proved herself to be the perfect wife for Spidey. (I really hate One More Day).
    But in these movies, she gets kidnapped THREE MOVIES IN A ROW!!! A lot of her great qualities weren't used and her sole purpose was to be a cheesy love interest.

    • @Dagenspear
      @Dagenspear 8 лет назад +1

      +Dragon Sword How can a human being with no enhanced abilities take down sand people, super strength having armor glider flying people, 4 extra robotic arm having people and alien beings with all the powers of Spider-Man? There's nothing wrong with being in distress. Being human there's not much else she's good for. She's fine. But Gwen was supposed to be kidnapped in SM 3, but Sam Raimi was told that Mary-Jane had to be in peril, so it was changed. That's why Gwen and her dad are at Harry's funeral at the end. Have a very great day!
      God bless you! God bless everyone!

    • @dragonsword8129
      @dragonsword8129 8 лет назад +2

      +Dagenspear I didn't realize that little bit about the third movie. Interesting. I still like these movies. They were my first real look at the Spider-man mythos.
      Although the MJ of the comics has proven pretty resourceful. There was a time when she lured Kaine (back when he was a villain) into the sewers and used the water system in a way similar to what Spidey did to Sandman (except she only had to turn a wheel to do it).
      Here's a link to a scan from it: 41.media.tumblr.com/4240f081c4bd0f3676008a34ede35b4f/tumblr_ms44pxW7jB1qzgu2jo1_500.jpg
      So, it would've been nice to have a scene where we saw that resourcefulness from her. True, she didn't always just stand on the sidelines (she threw a brick at Venom), but it never seemed that effective other than to give Spidey an extra second. Although every second counts.
      They did incorporate some things about her character (abusive father, wanting to be an actress). But her personality just didn't feel like the real Mary Jane I've come to know from the comics. And that's a real shame because she was really interesting. Also, she's actually a decent fighter. Now, she's still a civilian, so of course it's not like she can take on Green Goblin in a fist-fight. But the damsel in distress thing would work better if she made it harder for the villains to catch her.

    • @dragonsword8129
      @dragonsword8129 8 лет назад +2

      +Dagenspear I think I'd like to explain what really ticks me off. Mary Jane wasn't that interesting a character in these movies when she's awesome in the comics. I can get over that easy. But then the Amazing Spider-man movies made a huge mistake. They made Gwen Stacy more interesting... BY MAKING HER MORE LIKE COMIC BOOK MARY JANE!!!
      Knowing Spider-man's secret identity and being his confidant: She never knew his secret in the original comics. In fact, she loved Peter, but hated Spider-man.
      There are even scenes between her and Peter that are taken directly from scenes of him and MJ in the Ultimate comics: the scene on the bleachers, her patching up Peter's wounds.
      Even the actress they chose. I honestly think Emma Stone should not have been cast as Gwen because she was too good at the role of Spidey's love interest. We all knew this character was going to get killed off to make room for MJ. But when you have an actress with that good of chemistry with the hero, it's going to be really hard finding someone who can top that. She would've made an awesome Mary Jane.
      Heck, in Spider-man 3, she's a model.... LIKE MARY JANE WAS! And she had more of original MJ's personality!
      So basically, I'm mad that Mary Jane's been made to look like nothing more than a damsel in distress and Gwen Stacy looking awesome when in truth, it's the other way around.

    Sandman is what made Spider-Man 3 a movie I'm willing to (up to a certain point) defend, I never saw Sandman outside of that movie, so I can't speak if it does the character justice, but I still really loved his character, and you can argue the movie needs to be able to do that without me knowing the character beforehand.
    And admittedly a guilty pleasure of mine is the fight of Venom and Sandman vs Spider-Man and Green Goblin (technically Jr, or Hobgoblin, whatever the official name is)
    I've also never been much of a Venom fan, I find the symbiotes interesting but Venom never interested me.
    All that being said I can't sit through Spider-Man 3 without LOTS of fast-forwarding...

    I know the first movie had cheesy dialogue and an over the top villain (witch is why I like him so much) with a power rangers villain costume, but I don't think it should be called a bad movie, at least it wasn't boring with a bland (and boring) villain, unlikabe protagonist, and very lazy writing and directing, but that's just my opinion.
    P.s I like spider-man 3 but pretend it isn't canon with the other 2 and I heard they wanted to use Gwen Stacy in sm1 but replaced with m.j. for some reason. one more thing, green goblin's costume looks like it does because Willem Defoe wanted to do most of his own stunts so they made a more flexible costume.

    Here's one thing I don't get. How the heck does the black suit make such a difference with Sandman? Yeah, it boosts his powers, but what does that matter? When Spidey punched Sandman, the result should've been the same as the first time: his fist goes right through him. To be fair, they do make it an awesome fight scene. But Sandman should've been able to disperse and reassemble multiple times during the fight.
    This would've made more sense if he were using it against someone like Scorpion or Hobgoblin.

    "Lack of concentration." And lack of control. Sam Raimi didn't have as much creative control over Spider-Man 3 as he had in the other two. But, the biggest problem came from someone who was working on the movie with him; Avi Arid, the same guy who not only pushed for the Venom movie, but also was responsible for why the Venom movie was PG-13, as he said, "Venom should only be a PG-13 character". This guy is a huge Venom fan and kept pushing Raimi to have Venom in the movie because, and I quote, "fans love Venom." However, Raimi wasn't that big a fan of Venom and said that including him in the narrative he was going for (creating the Sinister Six) wouldn't match. But, Sony and Arid took away a majority of his creative control and shoe-horned in Venom

      Steven Ventris It does, but I in fact did just that. I really just didn't like that Sony tried to make Spiderman more serious, it just felt too similar to something I'd expect from Batman. Only Batman can make that idea work. Yes, I know the comics have dramatic moments too, but I never read the comics, so I'm not going by that logic. Plus, Andrew Garfield can be a good actor, but seeing him as Spiderman was just as silly as Matthew Broderick playing Inspector Gadget.

    My favorite villain is Carnage. Venom is a close second though.

    4:38 Funny story: I actually had no idea what 9/11 was when I first saw the Nostalgia Critic's video, so I pretty much had no context for what Doug was talking about here, or why the original trailer was inappropriate.
    6:03 You're right - he could be South Korean, with the additional black on there.

    Wow... I seriously have to worship our actors for dubbing that movie so well they turned it into one of greatest movies I've ever seen. I mean Spiderman 1... or... all of them, maybe except the Emo Peter.

    Oh my god, this is SPIDERMAN. Spiderman's always been a comedic jokey character. The entire purpose he was created was to break the mold of the stereotypical stoic no nonsense statue people that superheroes were turning into.

      Yeah, but Peter Parker is not. He's a nerd and not usually fun at all. Him acting like he did in the third movie wasn't fitting at all. Not to mention the dance. If anything, I would expect Spider-Man and a villain to somehow end up in a club with music plaything and a fight scene that looked like a dance. The whole thing with Peter was just cringe worthy and definitely something worth skipping.
      As for the Green Goblin, it was just hard to take him serious. Everything else was good when it came to goofing around really.

    • @ravenfrancis1476
      @ravenfrancis1476 8 лет назад +1

      +FTS Vectors Yeah, the dance scene was a bit too corny even for Spider Man standards.

    My favourite version of the Venom Vision is the one from Spectacular Spiderman cartoon. In my opinion by FAR the best animated Spiderman show. It is really just disgusting that it cot cancelled then replaced by Ultimate. So disappointing.

      They did okay with the Goblin, I think they did a much better job on Norman Osborne than they did with the Goblin. Strange design choice though, compared to Norman's design, fairly normal human, the Goblin mask makes the head a bit more triangular.
