I was never upset about the fact that he killed Zod but I was upset about the fact that those people didn't even try to get out of the way of his eye lasers at all when they clearly could've.
I think they were in a corner and were blocked by either a stairwell or a wall. Either way, they couldn’t really escape apart from going forward.
@@benpowell-punmaster1214 there was a wall but they had a lot of room to escape
What was stopping Zaad from just slice them in half if they try to escape?
They could have ducked under the damn laser. Was plenty of room damn it
I know it's weird, the execution to that scene was off...similar to the Martha scene in BvS and Clark and Batman finally stopped fighting...the emotional scenes that Zack Snyder was telling were ruined by execution

This Man of Steel review:
-Paints the movie as one of the most divisive film ever.
-Clashes the P.O.V. of "It's great 'cause its different" against P.O.V. of "The execution is shit".
-"This character wouldn't ever consider killing/letting someone die" vs "It's ok because it shows us how uncertain and human he is."
-"The hero doesn't have a personality"
-"Don't talk shit about this strong female character" vs. "She's fine at the beginning but then looses all personality and becomes bland"
-Mention of "angry fanboys"
The Last Jedi: _"Hold my beer..."_
The Last Jedi "hold my fanbase"
The Last Jedi "hold my ________"
Noob Sunrider -People massively misinterpreted the type of character OT Luke was. He’s not the Superman type whose all hopeful. Even in the OT he tried to kill Vader and pulled back on it at the last second.
The Superman shown in Man of Steel is internally inconsistent. This version was never shown as someone who would never kill, so his big NOOOO moment feels unearned, because that was never established in the context of the movie.
-Rey has a personality. Spunky, stubborn, somewhat insecure, and clinging desperately to the hope of finding a parental figure, which extends to her overall arc of finding her place in the universe. Both she and Kylo see the light/darkness in each other and try to pull them to each other’s side.
Lois didn’t have an arc in the movie and never really had any interesting rapport beyond being the person who finds Superman and who is saved by Superman.
-TLJ followed through and even expanded on the themes of the OT. Particularly what good the Jedi order have actually done. The PT continuously made the point that maybe the Jedi order were arrogant and only made things worse. Luke saw that when he created Kylo Ren through an instinctual, fearful reaction. But by the end, he realizes that he can inspire hope in the galaxy and make a new order of Jedi that can redeem and fix the mistakes the original order created.
Man of Steel just made everything more vicious and dark and never had a theme that they followed through on. It’s torn between being a unique entity from the comics and relying on the comics. Superman killing would be a big moment, if it was from the comics. But if you only watched this version, it would feel like nothing because killing wasn’t established as something that was a big deal.
Don't forget The Rise Of Skywalker.
@@cartoonnetworkdisneyxdsupe6864 "He’s not the Superman type whose all hopeful" Luke, one of if not only guy in the galaxy that saw good in Darth Vader and wanted to bring Anakin to the light side tried to kill Leia's son, because he sensed a dark side within him.
I don't understand why people are hating on you guys for pausing and *giving your reactions on the video* when that's the entire point of watching your videos, *to see your reactions*
Some people prefer it when they watch the whole video and react by laughing, gasping, etc. And they discuss it after the video is over. I don't think it's so bad when the video is as long as this one.
@Turner Marius How is that hard to believe?
BlindWave reacts using expressions and discuss afterwards by writing down this to discuss after it’s over. That’s why they’re my favorite reaction channel.
Id prefer they pause so they don’t talk over the video and i have to fight to hear 🤨
We already lost the 10 minutes of them reacting already.
Jonathan Kent's death.... It's not a good sign when 'DC presents Dawson's Creek' (Smallville) does something better than your film.

Watch Doug's review of A.I. or his list of Top 11 South Park Episodes if you wanna see him properly tear into TMZ. It is glorious.
The correct order is Top 11 South Park Episodes then his review of "A.I".
I will say this. Even if I picture Superman as the noble Boy Scout trying to save everyone he can, I also see one major unforgivable exception to his no killing rule.
One of his archenemies, Darkseid, is the one guy Supes is perfectly willing to take the kiddy gloves off to go against. And he's more than deserving of this treatment.
Or Doomsday.
Problem is... Killing Darkseid is just never gonna be that easy.
And doomsday is never permanent.
@@krustycrusader1184 Yup, that's why.
Wasn't there also the Elite, where Superman completely fooled them into thinking he had snapped?
The way the conflict with Zod was handled, I think his line about devoting his actions to Krypton no matter how violent or cruel sums up rather well why his plan to restore it didn't work. He was so focused on violent and cruel methods that he ignored more peaceful or diplomatic openings. If Zod had been willing to work with Superman and the scientists on Earth, they could've studied the genetic archives and the remaining Kryptonians to work on a way to save them without wiping out humanity. Instead, Zod caused a disaster that couldn't be resolved without sacrificing the last hope of restoring Krypton.
Earthlings tell Zod "ah! there is a planet not far form here we are not using want to make Krypton there?"
@@loganshaw9198 Exactly. And if a reason why that wouldn't work was actually given in the movie, that would be 1 thing. But nope.
@@billygreci9739 "so you passed Mars to get here, there is also Venus our sister planet. We can not use Venus because we do not have a way to terraform it. To much poisonous gas to send astronauts to be a base there for us. We could try with Mars but it would take 100 years more or less with our current tech. You do not have these issues."
@@billygreci9739 what is messed up is "how do you feel about the moons of gas planets? Put enough moons together and you can make a planet. We are also not using the asteroid belt or the kuiper belt right now."
@@loganshaw9198 Again, other options that were never even addressed.
To this day, I still think the best adaptation of Superman's origins was in the DCAU.

Nuclear Man that is all
@Turner Marius sorry got my movies mixed up

Superman II, Man Of Steel, and the original movie are the best, IMO.

That needs to be a spin off show for the Renegades.

I’ve been waiting to see this for a very long time. And it was worth it !
They muted the part with the song...which is too bad. It is easily the best part of the review.

16:40 So the Kryptonians have the time and the means to send a bunch of criminals into space but they can't even partially evacuate their own planet?
Why would they evacuate their own planet if they're programmed to not leave Krypton?
@@zhengyingli What do you mean "programmed?" Are you talking about the Kryptonians? And if you are, where are you getting this idea from?
@@KneelB4Bacon I mean they stopped being a spacefaring species millennia ago so their spaceships would've been decommissioned and recycled considering how they're desperate for resources. They've been warned but their conditioning dictates that they stay on Krypton and not waste any resources for space exploration, and was too late to do much about it after Jor-El's death.
@@zhengyingli So they had the resources to launch a few dozen criminals into space, knowing that their planet was about to be destroyed but they can't evacuate any of their own people? That's ridiculous.
@@KneelB4Bacon Krypton is a ridiculous society.
Does anyone else realize that Superman isn't a Jesus metaphor? He's a Moses metaphor! Someone sent off as a baby to a simple family where he grew and became a type of hero that faces a politically and economically foe (aka Lex).
That's why Snyder subverted the Jesus myth with Man of Steel. People kept making fun of the Jesus imagery not realizing Snyder was subverting the status quo.
So glad Shazam erases this movie from its dark depressing existence.
Zod's plan makes no sense because Mars is like right next door, if he's gonna terraform earth to begin with why not ditch the genocide and go with the move in ready planet
I assume the idea was he just didn't care. A five minute trip to the next planet was more effort than he could be bothered spending to spare humanity.
Educated Laziness You falsely assumed that the world engine would be able to terraform Mars.
@@zhengyingli it was already gonna terraform earth if it can reshape a living planet why not a dead one
@@educatedlaziness3268 Dr. Hamilton said that the world engine was changing Earth's mass and topography with particulates, but said nothing about the magnetosphere, which Mars lacks. If the world engine can transform dead planets, how come they didn't use it on Krypton to fix the core?

Please, do the Nostalgia Critic - Mad Max : Fury Road review reaction
I actually completely agree with Critic and Joe. I have a love hate feeling about Man of Steel.
I also have a love hate thing with Man Of Steel as well.
As well as Batman V Superman.
This movie is one that I have conflicted feelings about. Henry Cavill is pretty good in it all things considered (and there's no doubt the man has the right look! He looks just as fitting for this role as Christopher Reeves and y'all can fight me on that), and Kevin Costner is the right casting choice for Kent. Zod was also a good villain for the film. But a large part of it feels too Zack Snyder and not enough Superman to me. There's been darker Superman stories before in the comics. Plenty of them. But this story just feels too bleak. Too grim. Like it's trying way too hard.
Jonathan Kent in the comics was always way more supportive than he is in this film. In fact, he pretty much pushes Clark into becoming Superman, and everything Superman does is about trying to make the legacy of his parents proud. It's their Midwestern, small town values of charity, sacrifice, and Judaeo-Christian compassion that shape this immigrant child into being the living embodiment of everything good and right about America.
You also have to deal with the typical Zack Snyderisms, like the washed out color palette.
And then there's the Michael Bay level destruction porn that makes up most of the last third of the movie. That's the point where most people check out, because it misses the point. Superman isn't a hero that revels in wanton destruction. He tries his best not only to not kill his enemies unless absolutely necessary (I know some fans hate him killing Zod. That's not an issue for me. He HAS killed in the comics before, and the point of the scene was Zod trying to force Clark into a situation where the only victory is a Pyrrhic victory. It's just that it's exceedingly rare in the comics that Superman kills. It takes a very special set of circumstances for it to happen), but he also tries his hardest to avoid civilian casualties. Property damage, sure, Leveling a third of a major city with no evacuation? Yeah, that's not Clark's MO. And yes, part of that is Zod's own unscrupulousness in targeting a major metropolitan area during peak business hours where everyone is at work and he could cause maximum damage, but for many people, Clark would try to lure Zod to a less populated area in a situation like that and then try to fight him mono-e-mono. Instead, the back of the film is them doing probably $2 trillion in property damage and accidentally murdering thousands of civilians like they're two tactical nukes launched by two opposing terrorist organizations. Like Hezbollah vs. Hamas over...I don't know...Tel Aviv?
It's a lie that Jonathan in the comics was always more supportive of Clark.
Honestly, this is the kind of review I wish Doug did for Frozen II.

The only two movies I ever fell asleep to were Thumbelina (Warner bros animated movie) & The Godfather part 3. I loved bolth Superman and Batman since I was a kid. My favorite Superman cartoon is "The new adventures of Superman" (1966) and Superman: TAS as well as the Fleischer studios cartoon
To be fair, the truck wreckage makes sense, kinda. Like Zod neck snap, it shows his immaturity and emotional issues. Like Joe said, a young super man
I have grown to like this movie a lot more in recent years but I think what prevents me from enjoying it as much as everyone else does is that while the whole concept of the codex and artificial population control does well with the narrative of choice
It also kinda raises several other questions for me which is Why was Clark the first natural birth in centuries?
Did artificial population control just rob all of Krypton of their inhibitions cause I’m surprised they never tried to do the bunny hop dance for centuries
Was the movie trying to allude to the idea that Krypton had a birth rate problem or had they they just become so used to the idea of artificial population control that the natural method seemed useless
Yay I've been waiting for this for so long, loved your BvS reaction
31:11 ya guys father dies because he doesn’t want he’s own to reveal himself but we all know he’s gonna eventually and the human race is a dumpster fire anyway so Superman is a godsend for us.
They removed the audio to the opening song. I’m glad I was able to watch it before they took it out.
Regarding falling asleep during movies, I remember 3 movies I fell asleep watching: One was the Scooby-Doo movie, which I found weird since I usually stayed awake for that, one was Eragon, which even into high school, I'd always fall asleep watching, and the first movie I remember falling asleep watching was Titanic in the movie theater, which ended up ruining My Heart Will Go On for me forever because I had a dream I lost my mom while sleeping through Titanic, and now I associate that song with the soul-crushing reality that I'll one day have to live without my mom to support me.
I will always love this movie despite all the negative criticism. It’s one of my favorite movies honestly.
Throughout the entirety of this song, EVERYTHING Batman has done in the Dark Knight trilogy. . . they TRY to copy onto Superman.
And, here's the thing: Superman . . . is NOT LIKE BATMAN!
1: Batman doesn't have a "bland, independent girlfriend that he has to save all the time", that's Superman
2: EVERTHING Superman has done in Man of Steel, Batman did those first.
*****
32:21-33:31 That's what made the 1978 Superman so great, with that scene. Because there are SOME things that Superman can't change, that one moment made him vulnerable. That could've been handled in the movie; EXACTLY like that.
59:02-59:44 They could've gone for this route in The Batman. But, didn't they do that with the Dark Knight Trilogy?
I'm just annoyed that it's basically Superman written like Batman & Snyder blows his load to soon.
Superman Kills in his 1st outing in a new movie... & he Dies in the 2nd movie
It's just a pattern of Hollywood rushing their movies. Just look at Fellowship of the Ring; Peter Jackson blew his load when he had Gandalf die in the first movie.

It's not bad. But I would much rather have preferred it to be a live-action version of the first episodes of Superman: The Animated Series, rather than being what could've easily been the plot for Man of Steel 3.
That's fair, and there's even parts of it I'd actually hold up to be some of Superman's best representation on film, but when they got it wrong they REALLY got it wrong and they didn't have much of an excuse for it.
I WILL FIND HIM.
I personally loved it but I guess I can see how others don’t
True, but they were some subplots that didn't suit Superman at all, like destroying half of Smallville and Metropolis while fighting Zod and his henchmen, not the best idea ever.

I remember when I first saw *MoS* in theaters and couldn't stop contemplating how much significantly better it could've been, had it changed certain things and executed specific scenes in different ways.
It just clicked in my head almost every other moment, where I'd be imagining myself on set or in the writers' room making suggestions. I occasionally had full on dialogues with myself about it.
I saw what Snyder was going for (even if I didn't wholly agree with it) and realized over the years what an in-depth story he had in his head, at least on paper. Artistically, I had nothing but respect for him.
Unfortunately, vision alone is not enough. Ultimately, however great your ideas may have been, however much or little control you had over the project, what's put out there is what will be judged.
For me, the only thing more frustrating than seeing a "bad" movie is seeing a film that disappointed you because you were invested and saw its wasted potential. 😔 Think of it like *SAO Abridged.*

To be fair, these Sky portals and lasers had to start somewhere. During Man of Steel if they still weren't used that much

I’ve been waiting for this!!!!!!
Can you react to Nostalgia Critic's review of the AVGN movie?
@Renegade Media Group
Could you react to Mark Zang's new Regalia trailer for SLVR? You're 2 weeks late on that one!
If you want to watch Doug tear TMZ a new one, watch the Top 11 South Park episodes and then his AI review it’s AMAZING.
Edit: did you guys take out the intro song reaction? I got to hear it when you put the video out but I can’t tell if I’m having sound issues or if you guys removed the sound here
You're not having sound problems. They muted it on purpose.
I still think making Zod the villain was too soon. Considering how strong he and Superman is, it makes any other future Superman villain seem unimpressive. Snyder could've used villains like Lex Luthor, Metallo or Parasite.
Superman should gain XP figthing the small fish before moving on to the big fish.
Strength isn't the only impressive feature about characters. Lex in BvS was way more impressive than Zod because of his machination, for example.
@@zhengyingli Fair point. But in the end, Lex used DNA from himself and Zod to create Doomsday. A monster that not only managed to kill Superman, but threatened to kill every living thing on the planet.
And Doomsday, ironically, was another villain used too soon.
It’s almost as if they were trying their damndest to avoid the complaints Superman Returns got for it’s lack of action
What about Doomsday and i am not refering to BvS i meant comic book Doomsday
@@justindeliwe8065 Doomsday was the result of a mad alien scientist who wanted to the create the ultimate lifeform. By having it killed in the harshest enviroment ever (which happened to be on prehistoric Krypton), gathered up and then re-grown just to do it all over again, hoping it would adapt and evolve to become immune to whatever killed it previously.
After many, many years, he succeeded. But it worked a bit too well. Years of being killed over and over had made Doomsday hate all manner of life. It killed the scientist, escaped the planet and destroyed whole worlds before finally being killed and sealed in a coffin that got shot into space and landed on Earth.
But since Doomsday was created to survive anything that killed it, it wasn't long before it resurrected again..
Why was the beginning muted?

Darn you guys stopped me before I could ask it again so how long DO you wait before you react to an NC video?

Camera shake during a car scene is needed because cars don't float, so no movement throws off your brain.
There's camera shake during EVERY scene.
Wanna rip on TMZ? Watch his A.I. review.
My favorite DC Film is whined about even more. Terrific!
I didn't know Superman had Keemstar syndrome....
Superman: I AM JESUS I AM JESUS I AM JESUS I AM JESUS I AM JESUS I AM JESUS I AM JESUS I AM JESUS I AM JESUS I AM JESUS I AM JESUS I AM JESUS
I think better way to do an out of order story for superman would
first introduce some innocents who are talking about him and it would be implied the people in the city are still getting use to him. then innocents are in danger which causes superman to save them.
then in the daily planet we get a scene where perry white is pestering his staff about superman and where he comes from . Jimmy Oldson suggests a metorite we focas on kent's concerned face and fade into Jorel giving a similiarly concered look (instert Krypton destrution scene) and end with the metorite landing on earth
then we get introduced to our villian who has some intrest in the metorite.
there could also be some other flash backs but these will only a couple and would relate to scene
like if superman where to think about his childhood then a flash back about his child hood makes sense
also once we know the origin of superman and his motovations we can then stop with the flashbacks.
these are just ideas what did you think
superman IS NOT DARK AND DEPRESSING, HE IS BRIGHT AND HOPEFUL !!!!!!!
Did you guys cut the audio at the beginning for copyright?
Rwby volume 6 where you at
Superman didn't kill Zod in Superman 2. I'm so sick of people trying to use that as an excuse.
dupersuper1938 Lester or Donner Cut?
You should react to his video of Superman returns I couldn’t stop laughing at the commercial
Thankyou as a hardcore superman fan I didn't understand why other super-fans were ok with the killing of zod but ultimately even if those people had run away there was nothing to stop zod from going after someone again there was no phantom zone crystals here,
he had literally just taken everything away from zod and in this case it wasn't about right or wrong
it was about people fighting for what they believed in
and this kal el destroyed all that zod believed in
this was War and zod wasn't gonna stop till superman had suffered in the same way
and lost everything he holds dear aswell...
Thanks to this video for making realise that and it also made me see zod in a new light when I look at zod in the old movies now I realise he doesn't have the emotion that new zod does the new zod seems to believe that humanity doesn't deserve the planet and that he is on some sort of crusade(sound familiar)
zod is humanised though his actions seem inhumane he at least believes what he is doing is right, yes hitler was bad... but did hitler believe he was bad... no he had led a dark crusade of what he believed to be gods will, yes of course he was wrong but he didn't see it that way and most of the people that put him to power didn't see it that way either!
we've all heard the line "the road to hell is paved with good intentions" this is what makes lex luthor(older versions not the new one he's crap that i'm sure we can all agree I preferred the supergirl version better)
thanos and other villains like them great the best villains always believe in what they are doing and have better than mundane reasons that I like money or I wanna control the earth or the universe!
thanos didn't want the power of the infinity stones so he could become a god he wanted to create a balance by wiping out half of life because he realised resources on planets are limited, many living in poverty without food or water while millionaires live it up would easily see thanos's side to the argument and may even choose to side with him as you've seen in this world we are already beginning to struggle for resources!
Not that I condone killing i'm very empathetic and pro superman and believe you should never kill or harm another being.... but what good is that if everybody dies...
personally I think someone should of just said to thanos "wait rather than erasing our imperfect universe if your not happy here why not just use the infinity stones to take you to a universe or create your own separate universe without erasing this one where you would be happy"
back to the point is that despite me wanting to always find a way this superman was grounded in a more realistic reality one were everything doesn't always magically turn out ok (just like ours) and sooner or later if you get powers in this reality if your faced with a super-powered villain theres no guarantee that if they are trying everything their power to kill everybody that you can stop them
as there would be no human means to contain someone with a kryptonian level of power so jailing someone like that would be pointless you can't exile them to space they'd just make their way back to earth... faced with that decision of stopping them permanently or letting them kill everybody you can't say that you wouldn't make that same decision as we don't have some magical plot padding to put super criminals away...
the government would have to be pre-prepared to contain someone of that strength and like in man of steel there just isn't such a way in real life
so yes you'd have to kill them and yes some people would hate you for it but most people would be thankful as in this reality theres been people so dangerous they've had to be put to death or live a life sentence cause they are too dangerous to be allowed into society.
so it's not like most people wouldn't agree with it and yes it would in reality be a last resort for such a powerful hero if theres no way to contain the person trying to kill people what other choice would they have...
but because I accept that is a fact of reality, it doesn't mean I agree with that reality if I was to gain such power tomorrow I would try my damnedest to always find a better way (secondly for my own mental state I am one of those people who wouldn't handle killing someone that well I would rather die)
Because regardless of how much of a piece of garbage that person is they are still a person another living being who can think and feel
and even if they are completely bad that person may have people that still loved them regardless
and would you really want to be the person turns around and says to a little girl
"sorry but your daddy was trying to kill people and there was no other way...."
that would just be setting a bad example and not very hero like
then most likely somewhere down the line they would likely come for revenge on their fathers behalf when they've grown up
me I would try to appeal to the person's better nature or if they don't have one try and figure out why
e.g. most people didn't notice but what logan paul did was out of character and the fact he couldn't apologize properly wasn't him being bad it was him not realising how bad it was....
i'm sure you've heard recently about Logan Paul's discovery that something was wrong in his brain... there 3 holes in the part of the brain that allows you to feel emotion when I learned about the suicide forest thing I realised something was up
and so I sent a message to Logan Paul telling him to seek help because I knew this isn't something that the Logan Paul a couple of years before would of ever done... I said to him something is definitely wrong here
he'll be receiving treatment to retrain his brain into feeling emotions again which is gonna be a long process and maybe after
we will get the old Logan back who thinks more emotionally about the ramifications of such actions! and who knows even though it wasn't his fault something was broken in him he may decide to apologise with a more sincere apology!
I wasn't straight set to believe a guy had gone bad who everyone loved
sad fact about heroes in whatever form they may take, people wait for that one mistake so they can tear them down cause some people watching others fall from grace... and that only stems from jealousy and lack of the good in their lives so those people aren't to blame either
a good example of that was batman what drove the fight in the first place was both hatred and jealousy so when that explosion happened in that meeting batman saw it as an opportunity to take someone out who's never been trialed for their actions
where as batman probably does had already received alot of criticism and wasn't widely received as a hero like superman was despite all the damage done to metropolis and the fact he chose to kill zod
now I am not holding Logan in the same regard as superman make no mistake but I am saying that like superman he was put on a pedestal and with regard for if Logan Paul was in his right state of mind or not
people just started treating him like a villain without considering... why?, why would a person as good as Logan Paul suddenly do that?
unless Logan Paul was greatly missing something that made him Logan Paul in the first place... his humanity
if we ever have a superhero with powers I hope to god it's someone like me because it's never just black and white
-the villains may be doing what they believe is right
-or lost what allows them to perceive right from wrong and they need help to fix that even if they don't see it
a true superhero would know that
and would at least try and get them to see it from their perspective and maybe help them turn over a new leaf
cause killing is the easy way to stop a criminal
but stopping them with wisdom and helping them get back into a good mindset... that's hard... really hard
especially with those bent on revenge being a hero is never easy
and yes this superman is new to the hero gig at the time of the movie but I don't believe that with the fathers he had he would of been able to make that an excuse
I'm no frickin superhero (far from it i'm trapped at home because of a physical illness)
...and I don't need powers to know
that killing is morally wrong
it makes you no better than the people your fighting!
and if you look at the path that lead them there to their mind set then maybe just maybe you can help them cause when a person is in that point on the inside their humanity is on the inside is screaming to you saying please help me... stop me from doing these terrible things!
at any rate my ramble has gone on long enough
if theres anyone out there that is a hero irl listen to these latter words
remember that at some point that criminal before you was good and along the way life twisted them
no one is born evil... save them from themselves & help them find their human selves again!
Maybe other Superman fans are okay with him killing Zod because hardcore fans would know that Superman did the same in the comics.
And Superman II.
