That’s all Jim. If I recall correctly, they went through several dozen rounds of testing the makeup and prosthetics until they came up with something that could properly convey Jim’s whole range of facial expressions without falling apart or looking /off/. Big BIG kudos to the makeup and practical effects team as well as Jim’s incredible performance
Without fail, I cry 👏🏻 EVERY 👏🏻 TIME Cindy Lou says, “I came to see you. No one should be alone on Christmas.” How Taylor Momsen didn’t get so much as a Golden Globe nomination for her performance is beyond me. She was earnest and innocent without being trite or annoying like some child actors. She really held her own beside Jim Carey, who’s a force to be reckoned with on a normal movie, giving a tour de force performance of his career.
Fun fact the Grinch came out before Horton hears a who so for all we know the world they are in is the same speck but stuck in a snowflake before Horton found it.
"Martha was his Christmas!" STOP IT. 😭😭😭 His backstory already makes me emotional enough! This was a blast to watch with you guys. It's one of my favorite holiday movies.
1) I also tear up at nearly half of Cindy Lou's lines. Precious child 😭 2) The mayor is the worst; literally the only difference between him and the mayor in Jaws is that no one dies in this movie as a result of his actions 3) I want all of Martha's clothes and her bedroom!
Saw her live with evanescence live in 2011. It wasn't till u looked up the band I found out after the concert. She grew up to become a powerhouse I love it!!
I love the way Jim Carrey sang the iconic song "You're A Mean One, Mr. Grinch" while adding his own comedic elements to it like the hilarious sound effects. And his freak out when the sleigh takes off. "We're going to die!! We're going to die!! I'm going to throw up, and then I'm going to die!! Mommy, tell it to stop!!" Also, I really love how the actress who played Cindy Lou, Taylor Momsen went on to be the front woman and lead singer of a band called The Pretty Reckless. Also, I can sympathize with the Grinch, having been a victim of bullying growing up. I know the feeling of not liking people because of it. Side notes: I would *LOVE* to have Martha May's Santa outfit, her Whobilation gown and her flowing robe. (in my size, of course. I'm quite a bit taller and thicker than Christine Baranski) Augustus May Who is the true villain, and I never feel bad when the Grinch gets back at him for the years of torment by shaving his Quaker Oats mascot hair. 😆🤣
The strange wind blowing is a neat reference to the 'Halloween is Grinch Night' cartoon. When a sour-sweet wind blows it's a sign of the Grinch's impending arrival.
This one tops the animated one (The recent one) My teacher took my class to see this as a treat for doing so well on our state test scores. She loved Halloween and Christmas and she was such a kind and understanding teacher! R.I.P Ms. Jasa, my buddy Matt and I watch this every year in your honor!
It’s great seeing y’all reacting to a film I remember watching on VHS as a kid. It’s sad that Cat in the Hat killed the possibilities of more live action Seuss films, as this film showed a good balance between kid friendly charm and jokes the adults can enjoy too. All the actors gave it their all and it shows so well on the screen, and I’m especially happy y’all made a special mention to Josh Ryan Evans (the young Grinch in the flashbacks), as he also played another beloved character in the form of Timmy the living doll on the soap opera Passions right around the same time he did this film. Happy Holidays, and can’t wait to see what y’all watch next. ☺️
I saw this one in the theater when it first came out and was not impressed. But, after I met my husband and got married we watch it every year on the day we decorate our place for Christmas and have come to love it. Grinches can change!
I dunno ‘bout yall but I never hated the grinch as a child.😂 I don’t know what it says about me that I found him relatable at 8 years old but there it is
Im glad I was able to walk around the Whoville Set at Universal Studios and it was pretty awesome,! Sadly, it was demolished during the coronavirus in 2020 and now theyre building something new where it once was. :((((
The fact that Jim Carrey actually had to go through torture training for this freaking role. It is my favorite Christmas movie of all time. And the moment I 1st saw Taylor Momsen, she was my freaking girl crush growing up!! Elliot Page, Taylor Momsen, and Kristen Stewart were and still are just the freaking cutest of all time.
fun fact : the grinch when to the wrong Whoville. he was supposed to be dropped off at " Whoville from horton hears a who " but the stork messed up the delivery. also his mom's are swingers. .
I remember my great aunt took me to see this for my birthday after we went to Chuck E Cheese. Lmao important to note: 1. my birthday wasn’t until January. 2. I was 13 and emo and wasn’t sure why she chose Chuck E. Cheese because I wanted to go to hot topic, but glad my little cousins had fun. 3. She may have had some dementia. And 4. This movie was amazing in theaters!
Where everything else comes from that he has, The Who’s trash. Max was likely a Christmas present they threw away a few days later, like they do with all of the stuff.
If you can’t get past that it was modernized and still very much has a moral at the end that’s on you and your nostalgia goggles. The first cartoon is very sweet, but it’s nothing compared to this.
Fun fact Max the dog was a rescue that was taken from a shelter before he was going to be put down, they saw him and loved his look and made him Max
9:50 I JUST realized Martha May's love of hand-crafted antiques came from the Grinch. 😅
Ps: that’s not a “grinch cgi smile” it’s literally Jim Carey. There is an interview where he’s himself and does the smile. He’s beyond talented!
That is so impressive and also horrifying 😂😩
That’s all Jim. If I recall correctly, they went through several dozen rounds of testing the makeup and prosthetics until they came up with something that could properly convey Jim’s whole range of facial expressions without falling apart or looking /off/.
Big BIG kudos to the makeup and practical effects team as well as Jim’s incredible performance
Well, I'd say it was Mostly Jim Carrey. A behind the scenes look showed that there was some modest editing just to slightly exaggerate the smile.
Nah Jim Carrey put his whole Grinchussy into this role. Still my favorite movie he’s ever done and my favorite Christmas movie ever. IT’S ICONIC.
He, and the writers of this film's script, made The Grinch more memorable than the Chuck Jones version.
Yas Grinchussy 😂
Grinchussy is crazyyyy 😂
Iirc, he had mental health issues afterwards from being so in character for The Grinch.
His whole WHAT

Jim Carrey can actually make the iconic grinch smile...he says it really hurts but he can do it
I'm literally Martha May. I had such a big crush on the Grinch growing up, but I didn't realize it was a crush until I got older😂😂
Any time someone upsets me I always say "THE IMPUDENCE! THE AUDACITY! THE UNMITIGATED GALL!"
1) I also tear up at nearly half of Cindy Lou's lines. Precious child 😭
2) The mayor is the worst; literally the only difference between him and the mayor in Jaws is that no one dies in this movie as a result of his actions
3) I want all of Martha's clothes and her bedroom!
I never knew this as a kid obviously, but the Christmas Eve party when the grinch came was a key part which is a swingers party basically 😂😂😂
Taylor Momsen (Cindy Lou) now fronts The Pretty Reckless, they're a rock band and one of my favourites
Saw her live with evanescence live in 2011. It wasn't till u looked up the band I found out after the concert. She grew up to become a powerhouse I love it!!

I’m obsessed with that classic Grinch cartoon sweater😍😍😍
It goes to show you how much I payed attention back then... I had no idea they were inside a snow flake! I love ya'll ❤ Big hugs!
The strange wind blowing is a neat reference to the 'Halloween is Grinch Night' cartoon. When a sour-sweet wind blows it's a sign of the Grinch's impending arrival.

The XXX on the stuff he spit to set the tree on fire I do believe is Moonshine.

This ranks up with Home Alone with me. Classic Christmas movies.
Merry Christmas! I’m getting my hot coco ready for this reaction
give cindy lou her flowers

You guys I’m BEGGING for your reaction to Saltburn omfg
Hi there,
Merry Christmas and Happy Hoildays 2023
I remember my great aunt took me to see this for my birthday after we went to Chuck E Cheese. Lmao important to note: 1. my birthday wasn’t until January. 2. I was 13 and emo and wasn’t sure why she chose Chuck E. Cheese because I wanted to go to hot topic, but glad my little cousins had fun. 3. She may have had some dementia. And 4. She didn’t have dementia, she bundled your birthday “gift” into taking her kids out and realized she could save money.
Fun fact. Tonsils can grow back after having them removed.
Question. How?
Some tissue is frequently left behind after tonsils are surgically removed and sometimes they regenerate.

Hi pumpkins. I love the Grinch so much. Will be watching this over the weekend. xx
Have you guys seen the original 1966 cartoon version of this? It's legendary.
Happy Holidays, Luvs!!! Thank you for this video!! 🎄💖💖Another great heart tugging movie is Scrooged with Bill Murray.. 😄
OH MY GOD BETTY WHO LOU WAS MOLLY SHANNON ???? I have seen this movie countless times and I’m just now realizing that 🤦🏻♂️
She’s so in the character it’s hard to tell!!!
God, it must’ve been cost so much to make this movie 😅
If grinch hasn't gone down to whoville since he was a kid where did max come from ?
Where everything else comes from that he has, The Who’s trash. Max was likely a Christmas present they threw away a few days later, like they do with all of the stuff.
I'm more scared of the who's then the Grinch lol
Stay strong Jim ✌️😉
Lol! You two should watch The mean one. It is low budget. But I got a kick out of it honestly.
You guys should check out P2, it's a good, but dark, holiday movie :D
Have you ever seen Rise of the Guardians? That would be a fun Christmas movie reaction
Bryce Dallas Howard is in this movie ??? She plays surprised who
Would you guys be willing to react to Jingle Jangle?!
christine baranski as martha may truly was my bisexual awakening.
It’s weird that Martha and Cindy’s nose are the only ones that are normal
please tell me you've seen the muppet christmas carol!!!
Petition to let the Grinch be naked in his own home in peace.
You should do a reaction on the movie The mean one. Its a grinch horror movie
17:37 Jim Carrey played the Grinch and he isn't dead XD Maybe you were thinking about someone else
The person who played young grinch passed away in 2002, we’re talking about Josh Ryan Evans- not Jim lol
@@PettyPumpkins oohh shit, i had no idea 😭💀
#mask
/the mask
I dare you once the Grinch with Matthew Morrison instead that’ll make you cringe
Omg we actually have seen this 😂 talk about HORROR
Jim Carey Grinch > Benedict Cumberbatch Grinch
The hatred I have for this movie knows no bounds. The 1966 movie is a masterpiece and this one craps all over it.
If you can’t get past that it was modernized and still very much has a moral at the end that’s on you and your nostalgia goggles. The first cartoon is very sweet, but it’s nothing compared to this.
@@hayleyhellbound9513 I disrespectfully disagree with you.
But I still hope you have a Merry Christmas.
