I was reading literature about sex when I was in my early teens and knew the STIs that were out there. It only takes one time with the wrong person to get a STI. People wonder why I waited until I married my husband, this is partially why. He waited for me and I for him and we're faithful to each other. It was hard to wait, but the advantages of having zero comparisons to deal with, no unplanned pregnancy, and no risk of STIs, was a HUGE plus.

This is the result of telling people that casual sex is what will make you happy. I have no ill will or negative judgement to those who engage in this, but not much good comes from that. 'Super' refers to the bacteria that is resistant to drugs. Not necessarily a way to rename the STI. In the video they refer to "superbugs" a number of times. This is just how scientist classify those strains of already classified organisms that do not go away with traditional treatment (or any treatment).

Speaking as someone who has had a past filled with casual sex, i think ultimately it is far more detrimental than it is empowering. All it really led to in my case was confusion, hormonal imbalance, an STD, multiple sexual assaults, and heartbreak. Maybe some people are better equipped to handle the challenges that come with casual sex, but as someone who craves emotional connections and also as someone who tends to form attachments easily, i really, truly, deeply regret letting myself fall into that lifestyle. I'm so thankful and lucky to have finally found someone who loves me for me, inside and out, and whom i love back with my entire soul. He treats me so well, so much better than any of my past "partners" ever had. It's bittersweet in a way, because through this new light i can now see and fully, FULLY realize exactly how horrible some people in my past were treating me without me even realizing.
I guess what im trying to say is: i dont advise having casual sex. I feel like a lot of people do because its "empowering" or an exercise of their right to freedom and choice, or even as an act of rebellion against a strict upbringing, or even simply because they just dont have a real reason not to philosophically speaking. I will never think less of a person for sleeping around or whatever you want to call it, but i will worry for that person. A lot. One should consider anyone with a dating app profile (Tinder etc ) has this, as well as general population. So nasty. Since the popular dating apps inception STIs have spread like wildfire I’ve read from other sources. Scary.

You can potentially catch an STD from anybody except a virgin. Sorting who you have sex with based on whether they have a dating app or not is a false sense of security. Some STD's can lay dormant for many years with no symptoms.

Steven Howard yes of course that is true. I was trying to say that anyone with these apps is a person automatically checked off the list. The rest of the population you can take your time and get to know them as much as possible and ask for medical proof of no STIs is the responsible and logical thing to do.

The issue is that most people don't care who they sleep with, technology makes it easier to be loose and not having to actually take the time to know a person before you sleep with them. If a person wants to be easy they should use protection, at the same time nobody wants to use protection. It's a horrible cycle. If people still aren't afraid of having HIV(which isn't curable) than why would people be afraid of contracting infections that are curable?
Yes. And the PrEP drug (and increased life expectancy for those who do have HIV) have lulled too many people into a false sense of security. I'm married and monogamous, but if I was single I'd be a lot more careful than I was in my 20's. I didn't always insist on condoms because I was on the birth control Pill, and I had plenty of opportunities long before the Internet and its anonymity. Politicians aren't the only ones who avoid talking about STDs; the creators of hookup apps and adultery-based online memberships have made a fortune off of others' desire/necessity for anonymity and no-strings-attached encounters.
