Best exercise for traps and both the middle and rear delts. The amazing thing about this exercise you will notice changes after 2 or 3 times doing. I had a lagging rear delts especially the left rear delt due to slight rotator cuff injury and this exercise developed it. I was just doing it for the traps like 3 times a week. After doing it for like 3 weeks i just looked at my left sided rear delts and i was shocked this exercise develop it. I tried many other rear delt exercise but this one is the one for me. Now i love it. It is a staple part of my workout

I've been doing these for a couple years and yes, it's great for traps. Probably the best, like he says. Skip the shrugs and just do this movement, plus super heavy rack pulls and loaded carries.

Christian Think is a great advocate of this and has taught it through various forums and RUclips.
Great move, I shall try to use it in my workouts also.

Dont drop the weigth: its the weighted stretch that kills the traps.

    What's the set/rep range? I'm assuming 4-6 or 6-8 reps? 2 sets? Thanks

So impingement just...doesn't end up happening? Old shoulder injury here but very interested in this movement

It's actually safer than a lot of shoulder impimgemening exercises like upright row or behind the neck OHP, instead of putting all the stress on the shoulders it's more of a trap dominant lift. Not to mention most of the lift comes from triple extension, just make sure you stop the bar at the nipple and you'll be fine!

This actually reverse my impingement because of the muscles it ends up building in the rear delts, rhomboids, etc. The key here is the bar doesn't go higher than his nipples. Elbows never go higher than horizontal. Finally use a WIDE GRIP.
look how his arms back a 90degree angle and bend. The movement is very unique and safe if done correctly

Trap bar dl and rack pull for the upper back is killer. Ive done these they are decent. Sprinter tend to be muscular cause they lift....

This seems off, the shoulders should rotate externally, he's doing a toss upright row.

And what’s interesting is to hear mindpump 4 years later talk about how this exercise helps increase testosterone levels because there are more receptors(?) in the traps which is why they seem to blow up so much more on a guy than a gal. Almost seems like the bigger a guy gets on the back side the higher his T levels will be.

Isn't the grip too narrow?...I'm afraid he's killing his testicles with the bar going so far down...
