Hey man, just wanted to take some time out of my day to say thanks for this video. I went to the gym this morning and tried my best to follow your steps. good stuff and i feel like I am doing these much better than i would have not watching your video!! Thanks!!
This answers every question I had about this exercise. I strained a ligament in my leg the first time I tried this, and was out for about 3 days lol, but I knew I did something wrong. This is exactly what I needed. Subscribed.
These kinds of video explanations, drilling down into the details of positioning & posture during the exercise, are some of the most helpful since I believe one of the biggest problems with lifting (for me) is correct setup and positioning. Thanks guys.
This is a great video. Every other tutorial I checked out did chest flies wrong. But if anyone would like to know, he actually starts showing you how to do it 3 minutes in. Maybe all that commentary would be better afterwards rather than before.
Just found their podcast the other day, been through like 6 episodes already. Their no bull approach is what I like. These guys and Jeff from Athlean-X know their stuff. These guys need way more subscribers than most of that nonsense thats currently out there.
Great video. I watched this because I always see people round their back but my trainer says do not round the back. I've been working on this one cuz I love it. At only 7 lbs now but will get up there soon. Thanks
Thanks for the tip about internally turning your hands at the end of the rep, for high to low flys I always supinate my wrists as I thought (incorrectly it turns out) it improved the contraction.
Very useful, thanks. I felt like I was inclining my body too much when performing them. I will indeed focus on that starting position, keeping it steady throughout the whole workout.
What about breathing in on the concentric which helps keep the chest proud instead of an exhale which tends to make the chest cave in a little. This keeps better tension on the pecs.
Thank you soooooooooooooo much for explaining this exercise and how to use this machine; your way of explaining is super clear and easy to understand ❤️🙏🏼
My private gym just got a cable machine after so many years of requesting one. Bands just aren't just cutting it. It's almost complete. Now if only we can get a treadmill!
This is very informative. Cable flies are one of my favorite chest exercises. I do them at the beginning before the compound movements to get the blood flow.
That is a very clever use of cable flies. It is called pre-exhaust and it was developed by a Canadian guy named Robert Kennedy who ran MuscleMag for many years. The advantage of doing your exercises this way is you don't need as much weight to affect muscle growth and you can use a lighter weight which is better for your joints in the long run. I always do rear deltoids before an overhead pressing exercise. You will end up with fuller more balanced deltoids in the long run and your rear deltoids will reach positive failure along with your front deltoids which is a weird feeling.
great explanation, I love to finish chest with cable fly but for some reason I always think I do them wrong, I also forgot about the variation.excellent video!
great attention to details.. especially the hand positioning when squeezing close to chest. a quick one: instead of bringing my hands together , can i continue and let them cross over each other as much as possible to increase ROM?
Beautifully and brilliantly explained ! I am going to hit the gym today with all the tips shared by you in todays video . Looing forward to more videos .
Great tips man. Just one thing, aren't we supposed to fully adduct the arms/chest so that the hands cross-over, hence cable cross-overs? What's the benefit (if any) of this, over the Chest-CrossOvers which fully aduct the arms/pecs ? thanks man, from across the Pond!
F’n love the pvc tip, makes total sense! When you have a client get into a split stance, do you have them switch? Do you switch them to their non dominant preference? Thanks again!
I am using you tube videos bro teach Me how to train .y muscle to get stronger , your instruction are the best so far, thank you for. Your effort in making your vids
I’ve been told that at the end of the movement you should cross your hands over each other ( hence cable cross over ) but I fell it more with your method !!??
its varies for people. After building lots of muscle you may or may not get the same pump anymore so you can switch it up. Lots of larger professional bodybuildings never actually cross there hands. they just bring them to there nipple line or less.
There is no other way to get a peak contraction in your Pecs unless you cross your hands. Many larger drug-induced fat bodybuilders cannot cross their hands in front of their bodies and try to avoid work and the pain of contraction whether it be leg extensions or any cable movements. They rely on drugs to get that "training Effect". If you are not doing HIT training and you are taking drugs then you are simply not willing to work hard and you're taking a shortcut with your training and your life. There is only one way to train, brief and intense for no more than 30 minutes. If you are natural and you want your gains to last and you want to be in shape for a long time without injury you need to train smart and train naturally.
when doing flies from bottom to top, or scoops as I like to call them, would you still want to be rotating your hands to the pinky out method shown in this top to bottom? I've always heard when coming bottom to top, try to exaggerate bringing your elbows together, and naturally I want to rotate my pinkies into each other.
Thank you for this. I just joined the gym at 46 years old. Lived a mostly sedentary lifestyle. So I'm here learning how to do things.
🙌🏿🙌🏿🙌🏿🙌🏿
Keep at it. Be safe and be smart.
Best explanation ever...best channel in the world
Adam missed this one, you should pay better attention. See my explanation above.
Exactly. I saw Scott Herman’s video and this one is much much more thorough

I've watched over 50 cable chest work out videos lately. All are useful, but this one is by far the best I've come across!!
I did my cable flys today. But I will try putting the cable in the middle position next week. Really nice to see proper posture demonstrated
nice .. will be practicing that

I only use cables and you have given really helpful tips thanks. I really like that cable machine. Wish we had one like that in my gym.

Sweet this is just what I was looking for. I like how detailed you were about the form!
Thanks for this expert advice. I built high and low cables in my Philippines bedroom gym but at age 79 I can't afford injuries.
Thank you sir, the guru explained everything clearly.
Such a good explanation of constant tension. I used to think dumbbell flies were boss, but now I really see the cable fly is king.
This is a great video. Every other tutorial I checked out did chest flies wrong.
But if anyone would like to know, he actually starts showing you how to do it 3 minutes in. Maybe all that commentary would be better afterwards rather than before.
Best explanation ever....
Best chest/chain video ever!!
Just started watching. I really need to get used to actually seeing you guys instead of just listening to you on the podcast. Great content guys!

My private gym just got a cable machine after so many years of requesting one. Bands just aren't just cutting it. It's almost complete. Now if only we can get a treadmill!

Should we bring back our shoulders before we start?
Smart video

Thank you Adam! You videos are so helpful. I've been implementing your cues when training and it's a total game changer! :)
What is brand/name of that cable machine system?
Thank you very much, I have been doing it wrong for years!!
You're still doing it wrong, read my comment above.
Thank you man, i barley started this like a month now. I do all variations, is that bad?
Thanks much!
Rotated my wrists the way you said and wow way more activation! Lol thanks!
Support!!!
I only have a system where only 1 cable can be used for this exercise, will it benefit or hurt the workout only doing one side at a time?
Best explanation I've watched, didn't feel it much before. This helped a ton. Especially with the elbow over wrist positioning.
Have the cables work thru the joints
F’n love the pvc tip, makes total sense! When you have a client get into a split stance, do you have them switch? Do you switch them to their non dominant preference? Thanks again!
Gabriel Contreras I prefer clients use the less dominant side . Switching is fine too though .
Mind Pump TV 🙏 💪
I am using you tube videos bro teach
Me how to train .y muscle to get stronger , your instruction are the best so far, thank you for. Your effort in making your vids
How about when I do flys from the lower position? Do I turn the wrists downward? Seems odd since the motion is coming from below.
I’ve been told that at the end of the movement you should cross your hands over each other ( hence cable cross over ) but I fell it more with your method !!??

Should I incorporate all three in one workout? I like to do a full body workout. Good video thanks.
Love from india
Since I have 2 push days I might just have one day where i do cable flies only and another day for pressing weight when it comes to chest
What I'd give for cable chest fly's during the quarantine
This is the first time i see someone with the same sneakers that i have. They look good on you.
Can we cross the wrists one over the other in the finishing position to get an ultimate squeeze? or is it bad ?
great video,, i was wrong all this time :( LOw cable lower chest i thought and higher is upper chest ,,, dooope!!!
me too!
