- This is a personal rendition of maybe my favourite Ólafur piece, "saman". The performance is recorded and filmed on my "slightly" out of tune Yamaha acoustic piano. Thank you for listening.

Beautiful
such a beautiful song 😍
This is beautiful... the playing and the sound is gorgeous. I've been slowly learning this one on piano for a while and it's so therapeutic to have under the fingers. I just did a rendition of Ólafur's and Ella McRobb's latest release on guitar which I found super intriguing to arrange for a different instrument than the original.
Thank you! I really love to play it too, it has a special ebb and flow in it which just ties the piece beautifully together. And I just watched you guitar rendition, it's a great cover! Subscribed :)
Wow, I have always wondered what the background sound was on Olafur's recordings, Like a boat creaking on the waves. it's actually the piano hammers. It really adds to the textures, like the crackles of Vinyl or the tiny squeaks from a guitar players fingers moving across the strings.
Yes, I am a big fan of the authentic piano sound he captures in his songs! It really adds something to the wholeness of the expression.
search for his "living room songs" (the thing that is like 35mins long, it's a masterpiece), there you really hear the hammers goood
Fascinating... ❤️
Thank you🙌❤️
You captured the song so well, awesome!
Thank you! 🖤
Beautifully played...thank you
Thank you, Tina🙌
great sound!
Thank you, Nicolas! 🙌
i love this song , and you are play that amazing ♥️🥲
I love it too, thank you🙏🖤
And do you know what the white wool thing is called between the hammers and the strings? My piano dosent have that.
I believe it is called an action felt strip, or just a felt strip. Not all pianos are made with one, but it is possible to implenemt on most pianos. If you are interested in learning more about the possibilities, watch the videos about the Una Corda with Nils Frahm explaining how it was designed :)
Beautiful! What exact piano is that?
Thank you! It is an old Yamaha piano from 1969 bought in Norway, the serial number is 819612 :)
Whats the piano model?
It is a Yamaha from the 1960's, not sure what model it is!
How do you make the notes sound so warm, my piano sounds cold and soulless
Better than original *.*
Thank you! Really appreciate it
never like that, but it's an excellent video ❤
