  • In our last episode, we calculated the shim pack! • Porsche 902 Transmissi...
Today we find out how that shim pack measures up. We are using the VW 385 tool. You really need to beg a friend to use this tool. You cannot take the pinion depth measurement without it. We had to take the pinion in and out several times. Because we are just setting up, we do not put the input shaft and a whole bunch of other parts back into the gearbox. Once the measurement is confirmed, we can reassemble the rest.
This is a rebuild for Mike ‪@MikesRestorations‬ Check out the rest of his build.

The 385 bar is a wonderful tool. I have used it many times rebuilding the Audi differentials.

I like following Klassik ATS because most of the videos are a direct demonstration of what’s in the WSM. Not many opinions or interpretations. Although most all of the information can be read in the manual seeing it demonstrated and explained is extremely helpful. Most all the K.A.T.S. videos have taught me things I will carry throughout my career. Thank you!

A great start into the new year. Well done! Thanks a lot for the great video with all the details and steps, it couldn’t be better. I really appreciate it, especially with the use of a VW/Peiseler Tool 385…. I really enjoy your channel in europe!

My goodness. How did Porsche build that piece back in the day ? Must have taken half a morning or more each gear box. Lovely work and very tight margins involved.
