This Drone Fits in this Backpack

- Wingxpand is developing a drone with a 7-foot wingspan that can be deployed from a small backpack in less than two minutes. The aircraft is able to fly for more than two hours carrying a one-pound payload. The airframe can be customized to accommodate different payloads, including a retractable ball-type gimbal. Key to the drone’s compact size during transportation is its patented telescoping wing design.

Innovative telescoping wing, the duration should make it a hot seller.
I'd buy one myself, but they aren't cheap -- more than $10,000 a copy for the final product with aerospace-grade materials, based on what he told me off camera. I suspect your average commercial drone user can meet their needs for less money, but for those for whom carrying capacity is at a premium (wildland firefighters and soldiers, to name two), it could be a literal lifesaver.
RESPECT = GREAT JOB
What type baterry? 25,000 mAh??
I love this show, thanks for showing all this awesome new tech, which blows my mind.
This drone would be tops for ranchers, for stock monitoring, fence checks.
Glad you enjoy it! If it lives up to expectations, it will clearly be valuable to many people. Personally, given how it can shrink down into a small bag for transportation and storage, I think its greatest value will be to people who need aerial intel, but for whom carrying capacity is at a premium: soldiers and wildland firefighters come first to mind for me.
Thanks, appreciate that! Yes, lots of use cases in agriculture where they also value the power and simplicity of the system!
Hay, I Need One !
Me, too!
25,000 mAh battery?
Aileron control surfaces missing?
Damn that's a small bag
Yeah, looking at the video after I got home from the show, I'm now wondering how you fit the empennage with the horizontal and vertical stabilizers (which appear to travel as a unit) inside the bag -- but I didn't think to ask while I was there.
@@Roswellflighttestcrew1947 they simply remove with a push button assembly :)
I missed where you asked about the signal range?
I didn't -- which probably accounts for how you missed it. Like virtually all modern platforms, I'm sure it could fly well beyond visual line of sight -- which is as much as I need to know for my own operations... You're right, however, that there are users who could be operating outside of conventional regulatory constraints (soldiers and wildland firefighters, as I suggested in response to another comment) for whom that could be critical. Maybe check their website or follow up with them direclty?
Up to about 20 km with our commercial baseline
Still looks like 1980 drone.
???
