Rest In Peace Terry Hall lead singer of The Specials and beloved son of Coventry who sadly passed away aged 63. Much love to his family and to the rest of the band and to all his fans everywhere. 2-Tone forever.
John Bradbury as well.
RIP Terry Hall.....Fabulous group bringing back my nostalgia
Thanks! :Love these guys...that 70's ska.. so fantastic! really like your reactions...
Welcome To The World Of "Ska" Music.
Ska rules!!🇬🇧🇬🇧
Rude Boys was a 1960s Jamaican term for gangsters. In the late 70s/early 80s it was adopted by the second wave of Ska in the U.K.
Please react to Ghost Town by the Specials.
Yes Ghost Town is a fave of mine too.
The Specials...Too Much Too Young and Gangsters...the way to go!
As below...Rudy is short for Rude Boy. Back in the UK in the late 70s/early 80s people that followed the ska revival kicked off by The Specials, and some others, called themselves Rude Boys. Jerry Dammers from The Specials created the Two Tone record label promoting racial harmony. Other ska-type bands from this era include The Selector, try On My Radio, The Beat, Mirror In The Bathroom, Madness, gotta start with One Step Beyond..
You're wrong. You read that on ice lolly stick. 'Rudy' and 'Rude Boy' are two very different things. Rude Boy is Jamaican slang for trouble maker. 'Rudy' is just short hand, like 'Johnny in many western songs.
There were badges that you could buy from cheap market stalls with 'Rude Boy' on it that you could pin to your Harrington, but please, don't believe bullshit from people that clearly don'y know anything about it.
Rudy and Rude Boy are completely different things. Also, you should learn the difference between 'Ska' and 'Rocksteady.
Thanks for the kind reply. Not sure from your reply where I'm wrong tbh. What are you saying 'Rudy' is? As for getting my knowledge from lolly sticks...I'm not. Its through lived experiences...I was buying these records as they came out I'm the 70s and 80s. Not saying I've not got anything wrong but 'Rude Boys' in the UK at this time was used as I've described above. I, and my peers, at the time understood that The Specials use of Rudy for this song was as shorthand for Rude Boys. Is this wrong?

@@brokensilence6790...jeez, you have no idea, get back to watching Punk, you have no idea!!
funny to see that music was much more inclusive back in the 80s than it is now
The Special’s were instrumental in the 2Tone Ska revival.
Desmond Dekker & The Aces "Israelites"..Classic.
So great to see man
@@Lifewithstan2020 I Truly Hope That Life Finds You Well & Smiling My Music Lovin Brother.
i was a two tone at 9 years old in the uk, they were from just down the road from me in Coventry. loved them! great reaction btw ;)
The Specials tracks, " Dawning of a New Era,", " Nite Club", and, "Do Nothing "are a must, says this American 2 TONE fan.
RIP Terry, you were the front man for a band that brought racial harmony and crossed the divided. It must seem unusual for people to see young skinheads and young black guys all dancing together. The Two Tone era did that, we all loved the music and got along just fine. What we all had in common was that we were living in an era when the UK Prime Minister closed down all of the heavy industries, not because they were no longer viable, they did it for political gain, they did it to break the uprising of communities, traditionally opposed, but realised they all were being forgotten. Millions lost their jobs almost overnight. The music held us together through the darkest days.
You need some Toots and the Maytals 54-46.
Yeah this 👆
The original 1967 version by Dandy Livingstone is brilliant
Spirit of 69 here mate, old school skin
Agree
these guys along with Madness, Ian Dury & Blockheads, English Beat and General Public really got ya dancing
Another song about a Rudy, Rude Boy is The Clash's Rudie Can't Fail.
The Special's "Ghost Town" was a great song, but felt very timely during lock down. Other great Specials song is "Racist Friend."
Also man at c&a is a beaut. 👊😉
I am so happy that I watched and hear them live. The big three of ska plus Laurel Aitken I listened live.
Thank you for your rection video. Good job.
Stan is John barnes
Love UK SKA
Rude Boy....Rude Boy! The Specials are fantastic as was the whole Two Tone scene (its a shame they had a falling out with Gerry Dahmers... the guy on keyboards and the man who created Two Tone). I'm a fan since day one, when I found out Elvis Costello was working with them on their first album. I attended a live performance, a few years ago, and sang along to EVERY song.
When I was a kid in the Eighties I thought they were singing 'Rue deer', like there was a person called Rue who was deer to them.
My fav Specials songs is,Concrete jungle,Skinhead symphony,You're wondering now....
I finally got to see the Specials a couple years ago. They dedicated this song to Rudy Giuliani.
Racist Friend - ruclips.net/video/gqH_0LPVoho/видео.html

Enjoy Yourself (It's Later Than You Think) - ruclips.net/video/rA2-6ZlOXeg/видео.html
Specials songs are made to dance AND think. Very important band.
I loved the Specials but their 1st album is like Prince Busters Greatest Hits!
If you want to get into Ska try Prince Buster, he was a legend.
You're Wondering Now- is also a really good song by The Specials.
The Specials "Monkey Man",, "Pressure Drop" & "Nelson Mandela"
This ABSOLUTE POWERHOUSE Will Blow Your Mind,, A True MUST SEE/HEAR,, Alabama Shakes "Don't Wanna Fight" (Official Video - Live From Capital Studio A)
This part of the two tone era the group bad manners and English beats and special and the police and more music
Alse The Selecter - On My Radio
Wow Awesome video
There 2 tone invented ska revival was good 2 tone black and white unite Coventry in the UK faught fashists 2 small islands uk and Jamaican imergration made UK better yes all there songs ACE
Clearly 'America's Mayor' was never a Specials fan lol
THIS IS SKA!
It's actually Two tone, a blend of ska (but faster) & punk.
Ghost Town
Ghost town .....
Rudy is short for Rude Boy, ie; street punk
As a nice white girl I got lost once in Brixton market "how do I get back to Kensington?" LOL! Great memories of London in the 1980's, such great people of all races! Rude boys is a London thing. Culturally when Jamacians came to London in the 40'S & 50's ( like the Indians and Pakistanis, etc) they brought food and music and contributed so much to Britain.
Street punk? Rude Boy derived from Jamaican immigrants who arrived on British soil looking for work back in the early 60's.
@@markstevenson7577 Street punk is a pretty good translation.
The Specials were worth a hell of a lot more than views.
Learn more mate.
Rudy is just the bully in your life.
