But wouldn't it make more sense to compare the CPU's 1% lows instead of avg, when a lack of CPU processing power (in gaming) is mostly manifested as stutters. As oppose to a lack of GPU power which just means longer frametimes but usually at a more even spread

@@agentf9553 Nah. What I did instead was look at the games I was planning on playing, and looking at the videos testdata from those games only. Thinking about it, the overall average can actually be a bit misleading in the sense that if I only play games where the 1% lows are identical between the two CPU's. Then it doesn't change anything for me that the 8-core might be X? faster on average. Hope this makes sense

The point I made is that quite a few games utilize 6-8 cores at any point, and for lowest render latency I don't want game computations to pause because other tasks in the background need to use the same cores. Firefox tabs, videos, Discord, etc running in the background absolutely do affect fps and latency if they are forced to run on the same core that is needed by a game

Could you do a laptop vs PC comparison of equivalent specs??
    I mean is a 5600H on par with a 5600X, or a 5800H is comparable to 5600X?
And similarly, what is a typical laptop 3060 (say 80 or 90W) comparable to-a desktop 2070? A laptop 3070 providers similar performance to what desktop card?

BFV results: Yep, that´s why I resold my 3600 quickly and went back to 2700x, 8 cores is 8 cores. It matters in MP games with 50+ players...
Too bad every1 is redoing CB retests while there is almost no data on Warzone and BFV ... Sure there are even more un-optimized games with huge amount of players.
Rumors are BF6 is coming out soon also. Would be good to make informed decisions: Intel vs AMD, last gen(or 2 gen old) 8 core vs newest 6 core.
It´s clear by now that CB ST score correlates quite well with Single Player game FPS results and that in Video Editing AMD 12- cores decimates everything else, but what about the odd ball situations. And the player base is not too small in WZ\BF neither...

If you're building a $1500 system, extra $150 is +10%. 5800x might be worth it because of +30% productivity speed for +10% money is a good deal!

Few games actually use several cores to this day... single core is still king.. there ARE some that use the extra cores, but the difference is so negligible that you wont notice unless you see a chart lol... I mean really hahaha once you get past 100 fps in a game what does 15 fps even matter when you cant even tell the difference unless you look at a spreadsheet with chart results LMFAO!!!!!! why do you think all those 16+core cpu's from a decade ago vanished and the core count dropped over the years till now lol. PC games.... you will not notice a difference lol....those charts make it seem like a huge difference but in reality it just a matter of a few seconds.... seconds you wont even notice. Sure the benchmarks are better (used cinebench) but unfortunately the 5800 got soo hot I had to upgrade also my cooler. All in all in terms of running the System and games it runs pretty much similar, I wouldn't notice a change if someone would switch it inside my case and keep me in the dark about it. As for the multicore games support in the future well.,. it's the same story since the 2000's when first dual/quad core cpu's were showing up, there is little to none games that utilize many cores after those ~15 years

IMO in 2021 don't get only 6 cores in anything but a budget system. With discord and RUclips/Twitch open 8 cores today is already making a difference in new games, as more games come out over the next 3 years you'll want to close everything in the background with only 6 cores. Many people keep there chrome tabs minimized while gaming.
Double the price of a cheap i5 for a few % difference in a budget system seems silly IMO. Get the i5 and a decent MB/powersupply/case instead of the 5600x and the cheapest MB/powersupply/case you can find. Buying literally the most expensive 6 core in the world on a budget system seems silly. A lot of people misremember that Ryzen's are faster, but its only the Ryzen 9s that are the fastest, dollar for dollar intel still wins often.
If your building a mid-high end system and already have nice other components, 6 cores is pretty entry level for 2021-2024. If your building a system today its to play new and future games, otherwise you wouldn't need the upgrade in the first place. Intel wins easily in all price ranges except the Ryzen 9s.

I couldn't agree more with this. If your budget allows then get an 8 core CPU. Which if you're looking at an r5 5600x you can more than easily afford! I went with a 6 core for a budget system, it was an i5 10400F and I'm hoping to pair an RTX 3060 or 2060 with it.
