I think he kind of wanted to remove pressure he had on his shoulders of being locked into anime only and increasing his own standards over time. Now he feels more free to do whatever he wants here because "its not the main thing" while basically on hiatus on the main channel
I completely agree with you about less Isekai. I'm so tired of looking for a fantasy show, finding one, and then it starting with a rando getting hit by a truck.
you'd be shocked to know that almost every isekai doesn't have that start. it's just a massive meme in the anime community. there's either MC gets killed while protecting someone gets killed by some random murderer dies from an unknown cause actual traffic incident (not always trucks) or mc gets summoned to the other world mc and a handful of people get summoned to another world mc and a handful of people get trapped in a new world and have to find a way out, if there even is one. sometimes it's a reincarnation story where the past life actually matters, others it's just being stuck in a new world and trying to make the most of it
One of the best “Let’s Fight” episodes I’ve seen, but your Patreon people need to up their game as many of the topics south like hot takes from middle school and younger.
The second half of Oshi no Ko was fine. People just overhyped it from that one scene and expected the show to go down the Deathnote route, when most of the first episode was as goofy as the rest of the series.
I was caught up with the manga and what I am gonna say is that they just wanted us to meet the characters and their situations a bit before all the shit goes down, later on 2 plot twists happen that hooked me in on the manga, but there was nothing to read anymore I was caught up, I think the second season is gonna have a bigger bang personally.
I love Oshi No Ko because the story kinda same vibe as Act-Age manga. I don't really care if the mystery aspect is kinda bad or great since my focus is the twins growing up as an actor/idol just like Act-age manga.
The question is... how much has garnt spent on FGO compared to that person. More? Less? Deadman Wonderland needs the brothers treatment, same with Soul Eater
Basically the John Carter problem, took to long to adapt the original source that by the time it finally gets adapted it get compared to everything that it inspired.
I feel like the anti edge culture has been pushed to the point of nothing being allowed to be good old dark gorey stupid fun anymore and it sucks because I unironically love edgy stuff. Funily enough I think all the edgy shows mentioned in this video (Besides Devilman) are ass though.
Devilman is just dark, can't recall much of it being edgy. Death Note is much worse in that regard, rewatching it as an adult makes me cringe at times.
@@anitaremenarova6662 Depends on your definition of edge, Death Note is a personal favorite of mine but like I said I'm very fond of edgy media so I won't bother arguing your points
I love the aesthetic of edgy anime, even if the story isn't very well written. Especially edgy mahou shoujo. They always somehow manage to have the coolest character designs.
Fun edge is amasing, edgy can be really fun if you are aware that it is edgy and its not to pretentious. Loike batman, is classic edge done well and like really loved, ther is goofy batman too, but batman being edgy contrasted by something, is fun, if its not too pretentious.
That guy that tried to say Chainsaw Man is dogshit after 6 episodes is insane. That shit took off running after 6 episodes. Some of the best episodes are in those later episodes. Insane take.
20:22 I can’t stand shonen fans. Who literally get surprised when there’s a new series from their company that similar to something else their stories are never original, and they never will be. Even if something starts out different it will still go into the category of things you’ve already seen before and honestly instead of complaining that every creator is ripping off each other. Have you ever thought about the fact that shonen jump as a company does not care about it being original or not? They care about what sells. When I found out that Kishimoto was told to make a rival character for Naruto. The Dragon Ball fans said he was ripping off Toriyama. Sasuke was not even part of his original vision for the story. It worked out well, but imagine being called out by a fanbase for a character you never intended to be in your story to begin with, but that’s what the company wanted.. 😕
Funny thing about how they should make more cyberpunk stories, because I think there's a LN about a demon king/lord being resurrected 500 years after his defeat and his world became a cyberpunk world
On live action Anime. Just because most that have been done, especially adaptations that use the real title, are so bad they've created a meme-worthy stereotype of how garbage they are does not mean someone with the correct understanding of both mediums and a vision that isn't just based on cashing out on a brand couldn't make really great live action anime adaptations.
It's just really hard to adapt across mediums. Animations allows for so much more freedom than live action does. That being said, I watch Kakegurui in live action and it was 1 for 1 spot on
Akria ending worked because it was close to the manga's end of that arc. Also it ended in such a way that it could actually pick up from that ending, should a sequel have ever been made (which shouldnt be done in modern day, no freakn way, but back in the 80s/90s sure i would say give it a go). And it would require little to no retcon. But I get what you are saying, like The Mist a Stephen King book actually had a different end from the movie and the movie's ending was perfect. The book's ending was perfect as well Highly disagree on the edgy statement. Also used very nit pick examples of bad anime to represent edgy overall. That was borderlining on tourist normie take. Worst of all, uses other anime/manga titles that have edge in them in video to justify good anime for other points in the video. I'll even go as far as to defend Elfen Lied. I didn't super like it, like every one else did when i came out, but i could appreciate it, for what it was. The edginess was used as tool, exactly how a movie like The Thing would use violent edge to sell you the stakes that is at play. With Elfen Lied, you were dealing with a being that is something completely different, something that was designed in it nature to be a weapon, a highly dangerous one. If I remember correct, it was over a decade since I watched it. So inviting something like that into your life, no matter how down to earth and human it came off as, cursed tragedy would follow. Even the movie considered to be a all time classic Alien, it was primarily initiall designed to shock the audience. It had an passionate team working on it that worked their asses off for the effects, tight script, direction. But that out of the creators own mouths, was the initial plan to shock the audience. Berserk as well, has a TON of edge, so much it deemed unadaptable at parts.
I never take people seriously when they start debating with the nostalgia argument. Basically you’re saying you’re mad that people aren’t dick riding what is popular right now, and your favorite show or media is out of date after it hit the 15 to 20 year mark and it has no value whatsoever today.. I’m the kind of person that believes if the creator knew what he was doing during that time, his work can hold up for many decades. 🗣️🗣️🗣️🗣️
I don't know. I'm not a Oshi no Ko superfan, but I would say that the second half of the first season was as good as the first half. But then I don't think the opening episode was the best first episode of anime. It was kind of just fine.
I fell asleep when I watched Akira about 10 years ago. I thought maybe I just wasn't mature enough to understand back then or whatever, so I went to the cinema when it was re-released recently. I dozed off at around the same point as before lmao As much as I appreciate Akira's visuals and the atmosphere of the first half, I don't think GITS or Edgerunners are even in the same universe
Wow that's a hot take! For me personally I saw Akira when I was about 16 years old and I was mostly bored out of my mind and didn't see what the hype was about, then I watched not too long ago I'm 26 now, and I loved it, I could understand and follow the plot much more I don't think it's because I'm just wiser now but also because I'm more open minded then I ever was as a dumbass kid so I started watching Ghost in The Shell Standalone Complex and wow it feels great to go back to these things and experience them as an adult
@@lazkraft7917 Yeah the second time I watched it I was definitely able to follow the plot better than the first time. I just didn't find it very interesting haha It reminded me of 20th Century boys and Monster. Stories with a strong hook at the start, muddy+unfocused second half that feels dragged out and a convoluted ending that's unsatisfying/doesn't feel right.
Wow, I thought I was basically alone in this regard. I've heard a handful of people say it's "overrated" or typical hater stuff, but that's not quite how I felt. I tried to watch it several times, but half way through I'm either falling asleep or trying my best to stay awake. It's not hard to follow, I just get so bored for some reason.
2:50 This is not true. FGO does not explain the whole fate franchise. It's simply a different story. That's like saying Persona 5 is enough to understand Persona 4. But I agree with the comment saying it's not that complicated. It really isn't. Outsiders just see 100 different titles and get scared. The fate anime alone are enough to understand 90% of fate lore. Or even better, read the VN instead of watching the anime. Sidenote, I love how Joey knows everything about the KH timeline despite never playing it. Thank you Aki.
Ya know, when it comes to Shinichirou Watanabe directed shows, I'm kind of missing a mention of Zankyou no Terror in both categories of directing and OST... even if the story was what it was
You have such an incredible discussion about DEVILMAN, I am beyonDDD impressed and amazed! Im a huge DEVILMAN fan and you have pointed out soooo many things that I could never see.❤😂❤😂😂❤❤❤
In regards to the "nostalgia" topic, it goes both ways. Yes, people do dismiss older media by saying things like "it's just nostalgia", as Joey and the commenter said. You know, the _"it's old, I'm not gonna give it a chance, it's probably bad/worse than the new stuff"._ However the opposite happens constantly and you you see that every other day with "modern gaming is bad" videos. Cases where honestly they do sound like they prefer old things mostly *_because_* of nostalgia or an unwillingness to, not necessarily change, but accept something new. Not everyone is like that, but they definitely exist. But it is important to realize that not all old things are good. Likewise not all new things are bad. Far from it. Good and bad things always exist, then and now; sometimes one more than the other I suppose. Maybe someone does think that modern things are worse. Fair enough, I guess, we all like different things. In regards to video games, I think that there are tons of new amazing games. Maybe they don't agree, but that doesn't matter, because I like what I like and so do they. Point being that you shouldn't dismiss older media just for being old, but there is plenty of good *_new_* stuff that if you dismiss it simply on the basis of it being new or even "popular" then are you better than those you criticize? I don't think so. You don't need to like or dislike anything, but being aware that people often like things you don't, and not for a lack of taste, is important.
Alright, since Joey talked about Devilman ending, I'm going to defend Erased's thirds to ending. I think the ending is pretty good. It's literally the title, "Boku dake ga Inai Machi", "The Town Where Only I'm Erased". If you're getting annoyed by the ending and disregarding the whole journey it took because of it, then the author had already accomplished his goal because that's the consequences for changing the past, someone had to take others place.
I can understand with the “filter” endings in anime. Most of anime series I’ve watched just ended with no continuation or some kind of cliffhanger, or things have changed at the time. Sure, there’s always other adaptations out there (such as, manga, light novels, or visual novels) for said series, but I would liked to experienced all of it as an whole in some way or something like that.
Yep joey is wrong, fate isnt complicated, ther eis the main core story, that is done, that you should consume first, and the rest, works basically on alternate realities fanfic reuse characters logic. And ther are explaination, but author fanfic alternate realities other than fate stay night captures it. And it works great and surprising coherent, , but yeah ther is the main story, and ther is the rest, you have recurring characters, have fun. Ther isnt a need to find logic to be frank other than the basics and recurring characters and fate stay night.
17:50 Right in the feels man. I loved the characters and beginning portion of Tenjou Tenge when I was young. The middle having so many episodes dedicated to a flashback and then the lackluster ending still makes me sad. I gotta stop being lazy and read the manga.
Go read the manga. It's really good. Tho the very ending could've been better (as in more fleshed out), it's still quite good. Better than how Air gear turned out. (I still can't believe how normie!Soichiro isn't hotter given how both his parents look)
I get that kingdom hearts is confusing to some people but saying things are cannon when they are not just confuses people even more. The world ends with you game does not have to be played to understand the characters appearing in kingdom hearts.
Such a great comparison, ironic when you consider that the entire idea of lemmings jumping off cliffs is false and created by a media company just to create video that would elicit an emotional response. It's pretty comparable. ;)
Fate is not complicated people get confuse with name and it confuses people like how monogatari is jot just have fellow this order way it came out gigguk video say the truth
All I'm going to say, as a huge fan of the Devilman manga and OVAs, I hated Devilman Crybaby. But bashing the ending is dumbest thing about that series you can complain about.
This. The main reason I was hyped for it was that the director was the one that directed Kemonozume, but the adaptation of the characters & themes was trash.
So here is the thing. Older content is a spectrum just like newer content is a spectrum. And yes there are some really good older stuff and bad older stuff. But it is also true that nostalgia and familiarity affect our appreciation of the content. This is a well-studied phenomenon and denying it is delusional.
Well said. There's no reason to deny that you like something because it's what you're familiar with. It's not a bad thing and doesn't invalidate your feelings. That being said your feelings, whether from nostalgia or personal preference or w/e also don't mean you're right and your preference is above someone else's. NGL I've never had someone tell me "you only like that cz of nostalgia" or make it into a bad thing, it makes me think the person is a "back in my day things were better" type and complains that people disagree. I'm not saying it can't happen, but if you're minding your own business enjoying the things you like there won't be zoomers spawning next to you telling you you're only enjoying it cz of nostalgia.
To that nostalgia person nah it actually is nostalgia. Going back and playing older games is really hard if you didn't play them in the past. Like i know Torment would be one if my favorite games of all time if I grew up with it but every time I've tried playing it it's impossible to get into.
Coming with a contradicting opinion to yours about mirai nikki. Yes it's edgy I was 14 and I thought it was deep BUT I rewatched 2 times in the spam of 9 years and its holds to its wicked romance story. It's one of the most realistic ones out there. Spoiler alert: yuno states that she could have loved anyone that came to her perception at the right timing. And that's what I uavent seen in any romance story. The harsh truth of how we fall in love with someone or even not love but satisfy our needs. Being at the right moment with the right person is what it takes to fall in love. It really holds a dear place in my heart and every time I rewatched it I found out something new. Other than that it's an OK show, pretty funny at times and it has great character development that it could be expanded on.
@@shyguy5473 But the story really hammers home how red flag yuno is, its a good dark romance, because how unhealthy it is. the ending should be her letting go. to let healthiret yuno live her life, thou But its a good twisted romance drama. And i have no idea why she is so liked unironic when the anime goes so hard showing how bad she is. Through her trauma is done well to show she is hella traumatized.
@marocat4749 I think she is liked 1st for how badass they made her look from the start with being able to assassin someone and 2nd because if someone would be in yukis situation they would just accept it more and be happy to have a girl around them all the time. It does sound good in theory. If you have any other dark romance anime pls recommend. I can only think of 1 or 2 that give of this vibe, not yandere or killing just dark romance.
I think people who only watch mainstream anime suck. It's not fun talking about anime with them. Their favorite anime is always gonna be jjk, demon slayer, or aot. The best anime of all time to them is always gonna be either jjk, demon slayer, or aot. They're somehow more weeby than most anime fans who've watched almost every anime ever, and the worst offense of all, they don't even want to give any other anime a try. I don't like them not because they only watch mainstream. I don't like them because they perpetuate this notion that if it's not mainstream, it must suck. And because of that, shows that deserve more love and recognition never get to see the light of day, especially for new anime watchers. And in response to this, excellent japanese authors and mangakas will eventually have no choice but to follow the trend and we'll have a too much shounen, (cuz lets not lie, mainstream anime are pretty much just shounen anime) with nothing new and basic plots, or they'll just quit altogether because their work isn't being recognized. I'm tired of this. I just wanna read a good manga without it being axed 30 chapters in because it isn't getting the love it deserves.
You can't really describe anime in one word anyway. There are so much different anime out there and such. It's the fans who (mainly of western origin) are such. Most of them are quite toxic and honestly ruin anime. I believe most of them are quite gullible and accept anything negative about anime even if it's actually not true. It's quite annoying and disheartening in a way to this happen. Even more so, when even a huge content creator (with relation to anime) falls prey to this. Anyway, who are even the real anime fans then. People who fight with you because if you liking a different anime, especially one they don't like? Or people who healthily care about anime, appreciate the content that gets adapted, appreciates the work that goes inti anime, the beauty while also being wary of any possible flaws and what not without getting toxic about it and letting the flaws define the anime instead of the actual good within which usually constitutes of 70 to 90 or even more percent of the goodness of the anime. Anyway, I think the real Japanese anime fans are mostly from Japan with only a few from other countries. Though, I'm also not saying Japan is not free of bad anime fans.
NUJABES is 💋👌any music he took part in or wrote was so good if you haven't already give his music a listen I recommend 'lady Brown' it's such a passionately written/ good song.
The fate timeline isnt complicated at all, it makes sense, if you accept that most of the universe ,. yes has good basics and that, but it also kinda is mostly fanfic by th ecreator loosely held together , with a good story at the core and branching out from there. That somehow still is somewhat coherent together. So no fate isnt complicated, you just have to let go its some hard magic everything is logical thing when a lot is like in universe fanfic stuff thats just integrated.. Good fanfic, that still has themes, but still.
to be fair the Rythm game is a spin off. the only cutscene thats needed is literally only at the VERY end. A few videos including that could just be watched on youtube honestly. Also... Welcome back The Anime Man. lmao Also TWEWY isnt canon to KH. Its similiar to the Final Fantasy Characters in the games. Cloud isnt the same cloud as in FF7. He lived on a planet with some KH Original Characters and other FF characters (like FF8 characters). Same thing as the disney movies really. The Nightmare before christmas movie never had Sora Donald or Goofy lmao
There's a low-budget sci-fi thriller from 2013 called 'Coherence' that would be amazing as an anime film, or series of OVAs. If you haven't seen it, I highly recommend.
Its refreshing to hear that you enjoyed the Aku no Hana anime! I never read the manga but I really liked how they made the anime feel so uncanny valley with the design and rotoscoping. It really pushed a psychorror feel and it was super cool to me! The anime version of Nobunaga Concerto also uses rotoscoping, and watching the behind-the-scenes of its creation made me love it even more!
Takagi manga was eh ending, the anime expanded scenes/ending was better. I read both back to back, anime ended, manga chapters got to ending later. Nostalgia is overused but to me. I seek old games for their experimentation NOT nostalgia for games I never played before. Some genres Indies are just nostalgia refinements, their pretty boring so I seek old left behind games ideas that did experiment and were good competition and seek unique Indie games not nostalgia redefined hit game fan game like Indies in the platformer or racing genre for unique puzzle or other genres. I enjoy some trends new and old with various genres, various consoles, AA, Indies or AAA, it varies, but new trends are multiplayer so they can't re experience them can they. XD I research failed consoles, for knowledge. To learn tech history. People seeing nostalgia do, those that seek gaming history don't and want to cover all good and bad sides. I got into motion controls and good and bad ways VR or Wii/Move titles work, good direction. I see the appeal in good game design then oh give up on motion because people didn't do it right in 1 game yeah and as if devs wanted tank controls they didn't some studios had no choice, others got their analogue stick methods and won. D-pad to sticks fine, motion oh no. Gamepad uh SmartGlass or Vita, but oh Wii U is a console then a peripheral of SmartGlass on phones or a Vita as a companion to the PS3/4. People glorify what they know nothing about. The fact I can think up future ideas for games or consoles show their potential then cutting them. 3D took years in films or games consoles to refine and return. I appreciate old music, even nu disco, electro swing continuing those elements. I appreciate old and new music quirks. Violence sure but Elfen Lied (never seen) or Akame ga Kill. It's fine. I enjoyed Splatterhouse the 2010 re oot game. The stories are good, just fair cartoony fun but not brilliant. Shock value but dark with VALUE to the story. They aren't deep just shock value face value story telling . I enjoy them for being silly, that's it. Not shock value = good they aren't deep or amazing just dumb fun.
Most of these takes are dumb, but man devilman crybaby was overall terrible, that guy had a point, sure maybe there are certain origins or reasonings that make it good to some people, but as someone that had no idea what it was going into it, saying devilman crybaby was good because of the history it has is the same as saying fgo isn't that complicated.. As a neutral viewer it was just trash, bad music, lame story, bad writing, it wasn't deep or existential, it was superficial and boring, just overall bad.. Not the worst, but just bad, like a 4 out of 10
of course anime isn't edgy. There's no universally edgy medium in existence. Now edgy anime series? There's a plethora to pick from, just like edgy movies, games, or live-action shows
1. Elfen Lied, Akame Ga Kill, and Future Diary r AMAZING! 2. Cowboy Beebop sucks! 3. Samurai Champloo’s OVERRATED and it’s scores FAR from the BEST! 4. Akira’s one of the WORST EVER! 5. I’ll turn 36 this year! 6. NOT everyone agrees w/ u Joey!
The point about nostalgia is that some people romanticize the past when in reality they only remember the good parts. There were plenty of bad games, films, shows, songs etc. in the past. Obviously when you are actively playing and enjoying an old game and someone says it’s ‘just nostalgia’ they’re dumb, but when someone claims a general ‘they’re not making them like they used to’ statements, that’s nostalgia.
@Joey Bizinger 16:00 WHAT I'M SAYING! Thank you ! I've been saying for awhile now, that we need more sci-fi/cyberpunk Anime and Manga today. We haven't gotten a dark gritty sci-fi Anime in a long long time. One of my favorites genre's in the medium honestly. 😭
I'm here to fight for tokyo ghoul manga, amazing storyline, character developments, and borderline who is the actual villain here, idc what u say, it's a masterpiece.
I think the only way to prove it is not nostalgia is if you never experienced the old thing until you are an adult and that thing is already old. Like I am 24, and my favorite musician is Eric Clapton. He inspired me to learn guitar. My mom is probably the worlds oldest Swiftie and never listens to rock music, and my dad was not in my life much as a kid and mostly listens to country music. I have no bias at all towards classic rock music from the 60s and 70s and purely like it for its own merits. Even someone like Joey, assuming he likes Clapton and Hendrix and such too, would have nostalgia for listening to it as a kid with his dad. I didn't get into Clapton until about 5 years ago and got my first guitar in 2020 when I was 20 years old. So I can, without a doubt, say it is not nostalgia.
Edgerunners is not good. People be like: - The show had pacing issues with that timeskip - omg my fav character had a trash arc with an ass-pull end to it - the ending was very unsatisfying - OMG GREAT ANIME! Yeah, that makes sense. It isn't good. It's mid at best. Go watch Akudama Drive. It came out first, is very similar & actually is written well with an amazing ending.
I am for cyberpunk anime! I wish cyber city OEDO had more episodes. Bruh, ya think you listen to old stuff? I listen to classical music lately. I watch a lot of sports anime. Heck, I even watched real Harukou matches. I know the formula and I like it. I don't like everything shounen but sports anime I enjoy BECAUSE of that formula. Also, I dislike most of the popular anime series because they don't resonate with me but hey, some people like it - let them. :) As for Samurai Champloo OST being the best - I dived too deeply into too many osts during my life to agree on this.
I just liked Elfen Lied for dumber reasons...because it was an anime that dared to draw the nips! As dumb as that sounds, I always got annoyed seeing all the over-the-top fan service in anime, but then they just... don't have nipples? And I was a guy that HATED ecchi stuff or anything with fan service, so those shows were automatic skips. But seeing a naked lab experiment murder her way to freedom to open the show, and actually drawn normally, made me think "oh wait, maybe some shows do take themselves more seriously." Never went back & rewatched (because of the weird incesty stuff later on), but it did help change my opinion thinking anime was mostly for kids/teens (not that it was "deep" though).
Cyberpunk sorely needs a renaissance. Honestly, I genuinely hate isekai anime that just makes the magic system is basically RPG levelling system/skill tree, or things like having a deity that's basically tutorial/notification system. If I want that, I'd just go watch SAO, .hack, or Bofuri. At least involve a computer or digital game if you want to do that kind of magic system. Isekai has caused so many brainrot that classic fantasy like Frieren: Beyond Journey's End got confused as isekai.
Best OST's in anime that I remember was Escaflowne and Link Click. Something that was edgy with no depth was Eighty-Six. I feel exactly with that anime as I do with Elfen Lied. Eighty-Six had some high minded setting points which were never really dived into. Yes there was the people of the Eighty-Six were basically used has human shields but the deep seated racism that all this caused was never dwelled upon like it was in Full Metal Alchemist. The only thing 86 went into with any kind of depth was PTSD which was kind of interesting but even that was very surface level. IMO 86 was basically a mecha zombie anime.
Hey, I gotta disagree about Elfen Lied. Watched the anime way back, around 12 years ago and I didn't think much about it afterwards until a friend suggested the manga, claiming it's better. Gave it a shot, wasn't sold at first, especially the start since the characters were much more annoying than I remember, but after finishing it, my opinion flipped. Yeah, most characters besides Lucy and the dicloniuses are downright awful. But they grow, kinda redeem themselves by the end. Still, it's Lucy's tragic tale that hits hardest. If you're invested, brace for a shocker of an ending, one the edgy younger version of us would've worshipped. Joey talked about the Devilman's ending here and I believe this one would hit you just as hard, for those who enjoy these stuff of course. Not calling it a masterpiece now, but despite its flaws (there are many), I'd still rate it 8 or 9 for what it delivers. Bottom line, give the manga a chance. Might reignite your love for Elfen Lied.
Man,Devilman is underrated as fuck especially by westerners 😭 It basically influenced almost every show that you all love and I mean every Evangelion Berserk Chainsawman Madoka Magica And they in turn inspired a lot of other anime so it’s the grandad or just straight up dad of a lot of anime Side note: The creator of Devilman also created the whole trope in Mecha of the pilots being in the Mechs rather than controlling them like an RC Car
Imagine watching the live action movie of DevilMan when you're 8yrs old. Traumatized me to my core, but I wanna try watching it again after 15yrs. Ps. Idk why we had a disc copy back then😂
being edgy means being cool by being dark, tough, or badass. how is anime not edgy when we got some really fucked up anime like evangelion genesis, chainsaw man, jujutsu kaisen, attack on titan, hells paradise, and of course ... BERZERK
i think The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom is the worst Legend of Zelda game i have ever played, for the record i have played most of the Zelda games since 2011 and i have had no game that i just don't like until Tears of the Kingdom dropped. i played it last year and i dropped it because of how this game just felt supper samy and i went back to play final fantasy IV that year and eventually final fantasy XVI which is a even better game than Tears of the Kingdom. my favourite Zelda is Twilight Princess by the way.
I have honeslty have never heard anyone call Elfen Lied a masterpiece. I remember watching it as a teen and felt it was just really depressing. IDK I like the art style in the opening but otherwise and promo art but other than that Idk know anything like a masterpiece.
Dunno why people are complaining about an anime being depressing? Isn't that a nice thing when a show can manipulate your emotions? This is why there are different genres of storytelling!
The best curry I have had was sitting in a sampan in Aberdeen Harbour, that was cooked for us by the mother of our 'dobie wallah' after we gave him a 4 dollar raise! (Hong Kong dollar) It was a vegetable curry, and was fantastic!
I'm a Kingdom Hearts fan whose played most of the games AND I'd be lying if I told you it wasn't complex. Even for someone whose played it, shit is still rather complex.
I guess I should read Devilman now. Also, I am quite fond of shonen anime and manga because I grew up with action movies and superhero comics. There's a familiarity there. Sure, I do like manga and anime of other demographics and genres, but, Shonen Jump and shonen in general is a comfort based anime and manga for me ❤
I think the Boruto anime is great and in some ways I like it better than the Naruto anime. But no it is not anywhere near as good as Hunter x Hunter. Much less better. I think Naruto was a good solid series but the way some fans act like it was some kind of untouchable masterpiece...nah. One Piece is either fantastic or tedious as fuck depending on the arc and is overall good but not great. Bleach is brilliant and the best of the big three but HxH still beats it. Dragon Quest :The Adventures of Dai is underrated as fuck in the west and better than Dragonball. Dragonball is equal to Bleach. Beet the Vandel Buster is awesome
i think boruto from the isshiki battle onwards is 7.5 - 8/10 because they manage to up the power scaling without resorting to huge techniques and big susanoo kurama armors giant rasengan shit. otsutsuki jutsu absoption powers i think is a great plot point for it cause it made the characters stronger without just making stuff bigger unlike the end of shippuden and focus more on ninja shit like boruto learning the flying raijin learning kenjutsu from sasuke rasengan uzuhiko which so op and learning how to use his jogan and karma marking. boruto could probably beat naruto and sasuke at the same time which is wild. story wise as well i like where kishimoto is going with boruto making him kinda like itachi, the hated most wanted person but actually hes the good guy. the new god level characters as well will be interesting when they finally fight especially daemon how would boruto handle that kid if they fight.
Disagree. Oshi no ko was great from beginning to the end. Not only in terms of story and message but also in quality. I would say episode 6 hit me probably even harder than episode 1. And the last episode with the great concert and how they realized it with the singing, the dancing and the transition from Ai to Ruby was an amazing end to S1 and left me starved for more.
A director *was* actually attached to the Akira live-action, that being Taika Waititi, he wanted to make an adaptation that was closer to the original manga. The reason that it apparently fell apart was because he wanted to cast a Japanese actor in the lead role whereas the studio wanted to cast a big name like Leonardo DiCaprio and they butted heads on that.
Somewhere near 17:15 to help the random comment out about fillers in anime he should watch this one specific scene in Gintama that kinda basically explains fillers and if you are still upset even after learning about fillers then that’s a U problem buddy. (This goes for everyone else who has a problem with fillers)
While I think something "being edgy" has a justifiably negative connotation, something "having edge to it" should not. Kind of a stupid way to put it, but can't really think of a better way to put it atm
I love this “Joey Bizinger” channel has gradually become the old “TheAnimeMan” channel

That whole genre is blighted by utter garbage. Saga of Tanya the Evil is the only good isekai and I'll stand by that.
.hack is the only one I've liked ever. I hate harem anime too. Besides tenchi muyo
you'd be shocked to know that almost every isekai doesn't have that start. it's just a massive meme in the anime community.
there's either
MC gets killed while protecting someone
gets killed by some random murderer
dies from an unknown cause
actual traffic incident (not always trucks)
or
mc gets summoned to the other world
mc and a handful of people get summoned to another world
mc and a handful of people get trapped in a new world and have to find a way out, if there even is one.
sometimes it's a reincarnation story where the past life actually matters, others it's just being stuck in a new world and trying to make the most of it

This. Personally I prefer the other episodes to the first one. I also read the manga afterwards.
I don't really care if the mystery aspect is kinda bad or great since my focus is the twins growing up as an actor/idol just like Act-age manga.
also, the hook from the first episode will play a part later
I still enjoyed it the whole season after episode 1. Of course, it has to take a slower pace. I was still entertained.
The question is... how much has garnt spent on FGO compared to that person. More? Less? Deadman Wonderland needs the brothers treatment, same with Soul Eater
The devil man thing is like watching Akira for the first time and thinking that motorcycle slide is a bit played out innit
Basically the John Carter problem, took to long to adapt the original source that by the time it finally gets adapted it get compared to everything that it inspired.
samurai shamploo does have one the best OST.

I'm so glad you're doing these kinds of videos again.

That being said, I watch Kakegurui in live action and it was 1 for 1 spot on
Only realistic manga or anime should get live action like Monster.
animes dont need live actions evan if it is good.

More cyberpunk animes, YES PLEASE!
Cyberpunk style animes of the 80s and sci-fi of the 90's were what got me into anime.
The book's ending was perfect as well
Highly disagree on the edgy statement.
I dozed off at around the same point as before lmao
As much as I appreciate Akira's visuals and the atmosphere of the first half, I don't think GITS or Edgerunners are even in the same universe
I just didn't find it very interesting haha
It reminded me of 20th Century boys and Monster.
It re-released recently?!
Well, I guess I've been fought now.

How to get people into Type-Moon:

Elfen Lied is the goat , anyone who say otherwise is wrong
That's impossible you gotta read the source if you want the whole experience
Adaptations can't adapt everything due to time budget and fan reception
Fortunately Summer time rendering anime adapted the manga till the end in just 25 episodes. @@murderman8578
That term 'edgy'. Like Lemmings standing on the edge of the cliff & turning to each other & asking "Shall We?!"
Such a great comparison, ironic when you consider that the entire idea of lemmings jumping off cliffs is false and created by a media company just to create video that would elicit an emotional response. It's pretty comparable. ;)

I love so much, that you brought this series back!
To that nostalgia person nah it actually is nostalgia. Going back and playing older games is really hard if you didn't play them in the past. Like i know Torment would be one if my favorite games of all time if I grew up with it but every time I've tried playing it it's impossible to get into.
Okay whoever sent in that Shounen take was kinda cooking.. need more of that rant
The "romance" in Mirai Nikki only works because of Yuno's personality and Yuki being submissive. It's not a good romance though.
@@shyguy5473 But the story really hammers home how red flag yuno is, its a good dark romance, because how unhealthy it is. the ending should be her letting go. to let healthiret yuno live her life, thou
But its a good twisted romance drama. And i have no idea why she is so liked unironic when the anime goes so hard showing how bad she is. Through her trauma is done well to show she is hella traumatized.
@shyguy5473 it is a dark romance and covers more the obsessive side of it. And yes it is more interesting when you show a girl killing people.

Nothing we love is edgy, we are
And the game Hatred

Also... Welcome back The Anime Man. lmao
Also TWEWY isnt canon to KH.
Anime is very edgy... Let's not fight
Go Nagai has always been one of my favorites, but hey I’m old and he’s one of the few manga writers that I like that’s still alive.
Oshi No Ko season 1 was consistent and episode 6 was easily its best episode
6 is the Akane suicide attempt episode right ... Thats even better in the manga , those comments she gets hurt even the readers reading them .
There's a low-budget sci-fi thriller from 2013 called 'Coherence' that would be amazing as an anime film, or series of OVAs. If you haven't seen it, I highly recommend.
The 2nd half of ONK s1 wasn't up to par with the 1st half, what? That is a wild take from Joey
XD
I research failed consoles, for knowledge.
I FUCKIN' agree, Joey! CY-BER-PUNK! CY-BER-PUNK! More, please??? 🙏🏼🙏🏼
Live action anime can be good. I think it is called Tokusatsu or something.

16:00 WHAT I'M SAYING!
People be like:
- The show had pacing issues with that timeskip
- omg my fav character had a trash arc with an ass-pull end to it
- the ending was very unsatisfying
- OMG GREAT ANIME!
As for Samurai Champloo OST being the best - I dived too deeply into too many osts during my life to agree on this.
But seeing a naked lab experiment murder her way to freedom to open the show, and actually drawn normally, made me think "oh wait, maybe some shows do take themselves more seriously."
Never went back & rewatched (because of the weird incesty stuff later on), but it did help change my opinion thinking anime was mostly for kids/teens (not that it was "deep" though).
Monster and Now and then, Here and There: "Are we a joke to you?"
You okay? That intro was very low energy. Could be just cause of where he is, but hoping he's ok >.>
Man,Devilman is underrated as fuck especially by westerners 😭
It basically influenced almost every show that you all love and I mean every
Evangelion
Berserk
Chainsawman
Madoka Magica
And they in turn inspired a lot of other anime so it’s the grandad or just straight up dad of a lot of anime
Side note: The creator of Devilman also created the whole trope in Mecha of the pilots being in the Mechs rather than controlling them like an RC Car
Depends on the anime. Fluffy Paradise is not edgy, it's the opposite of being edgy. Chainsaw Man is edgy.
那覇タサに。ただこれぐらいいいからしたらもう一度あることは二度あるが。やるならず!さあこれくらいしてある。😊
2:33 when you get done. 🛌
