Another brilliant video. They’re definitely different. The bracing pattern effect on tone would become even more apparent with a thinner top, I think.
A thinner top and taller bracing sculpted. More hand work on the bracing but I think 🤔 it may be worth it.🤐
Sup Brad!
So.... if you ever need to work on the neck, you have to pull the body apart? Maybe that’s an oversight. The bracing needs to be perpendicular grain or it’s not bracing.
I keep saying you should try carbon fiber strips. It’s cheap and extremely effective. Hell, just remove all of the features inside the guitar and lay up a single sheet of carbon fiber on the top, back and sides. It would be nearly invincible to cracking then. Especially with an exterior finish.
They both sound good. But major concerns would be in the neck lockdown. No way to reset. Another concern would be the bracing doesn’t counteract the top and back from distortion in the wood itself. You will always have movement in wood and without bracing that goes across the grain of the two surfaces the top and back could go wherever it chooses instead of countering the movement. Just saying 🤐
Awesome work bro! I can't really hear a difference in the 2 but your guitars are built to last with the thicker walls, top and bottom. Big guitar company's would never hog through that much solid wood for an acoustic, they use as little amount of wood that they can get away with then brace the shit outta them so they don't collapse on themselves!! Do your guitars even need bracing? They look strong as hell, you built them like tanks bro... Awesome. And I wouldn't change that logo at all, thank you much for another great and inspiring video! ... Mike (Ipswich River Guitars).
Great video Sean. Both are beautiful and sound great. I am going to have to order one of these some day.
Another great video, Sean! I'd really love to see how you would do something like this by hand.
Thank you very much!!! That is Amazing with how the two pieces goes together!!! The Sound on both is Awesome, there might be a tad different in bass sound on the Martin one but I'm like you it's very hard to tell !!! Love your Bridge on both!!! I know that's your design and I love it !!!! Love tis video also !!! Carry on the Amazing Work !!! God Bless!!! Oh not that I need one but what is your cost on the Acoustical build???? Love to have you Scar my Guitar !!!!!!!
Don’t change the logo! Also the bathroom segment was hilarious 😂 👏👏👏😂😂😂😂👍👍👍 both guitars sound outstanding!
I don't know that routed out braces could give a reasonable comparison to glued in and or scalloped bracing. Would have been nice if you had a Martin and Taylor for comparison, or at least guitars that were made with the same style of bracing. Gotta admit though man, both sound great!
That’s a badass logo they both are amazing Sean great works of art
Just WOW...your innovative ideas and passion for transforming hunks of wood into beautiful guitars is inspiring! Thanks for sharing your talents and skills and proving that the status quo should always be challenged... That bridge is quite remarkable! Beautiful work!
Damn they look great brother! Keep it up!!!
Whilst I can here some diffrences in the two, I'm with you Sean, they both sound great and in a studio I be happy with either.
All the best brother.
Keep pushing the boundaries and asking why
👍✌😎
Another awesome video! They both sound great. My novice ears can’t tell a big difference between the two. I’d like to see them after you stain them. I know it won’t affect the sounds but just want to see the finished product. Thanks Scar My Guitar!
They're both really nice, but there's way to many variables besides the bracing which can make a huge difference in the sound. Firstly, every piece of wood has different acoustic properties. Then there's the fact that both martin and taylor make the bracing from a different piece of wood and then glue it on, whereas you just routed it out from a solid piece. Plus the height and with of the braces etc. And especially the fact that you made each guitar with a different person in mind. But besides for all that, the difference in bracing shapes may definitely affect tone.
It does affect tone and loudness because it affects vibrations and different bracing will affect different frequencies differently.
I'm super curious about this canary wood. I Googled it and now I'm getting advertisements for cutting boards.Your fretboards look a lot better ;)
I liked the Martin bracing better in yours, but I prefer Taylors to Martins in general. Either way, both of yours are amazing!!
Love the way both sounded. 👍🎸
Love your use of specialty woods with those small accents that most don’t realize how skilled you gotta be to get it right. Gorgeous
Hot diggity!! Both sound amazing. I'm rooting for you man, you are turning this whole guitar mythology upside down. Awesome.
don't mess with that logo, that puppy sweet.
I think they both sound good man. Keep rocking. God bless.
God Bless!!!
both sound amazing, so its a matter of pick your poison for which on you like more, love the way you put your logo in the guitar, wish i had the laser burner thing, also a cnc machine
They both sound awesome! very slight difference on youtube. If you want to send them both over here .... nevermind. Great video man !
Wow man I love it. What a unique idea for a new concept on a Acoustic guitar. I like the martin myself. I'm thinking a little bigger sound hole might boost the volume on it for blue grass. Hate to ask but what would one of those cost to make and sell one? And maybe a electric acoustic ? Thanks man your videos are very inspiring.
You wanna buy one message me on Facebook or Instagram
Love it , they are both beautiful and sound AWESOME !!!
Thanks so much!!
Man that was a fantastic job on those I want one and now I wouldn't change the logo and I'd want the logo on mine I would sport it proudly
Ya know I really can not tell the difference they both sound awesome BTW you did a gr8 job on building them guitars.thanks for sharing....
This one had me laughing my ass off a few times at the beginning!
Nice ... I think both are great.
SCAR MY GUITAR
Sean I’m surprised you didn’t get a phone call to setup a sale. But I guess your rich enough and make guitars for yourself only? Okay you give them away but how do your viewers get a scar guitar?
i/m with you!! a terrific ceation--both guitars!!please tell me how you learned to use a c&c machine?? i have to replace 2 arch top ,tops for my guitars my dangelico top is sinking .its down about 1/2 inch.soon i wont be able to play it.i have some beautiful spruce i got from alaska waiting to be made into a new top for that guitar.another guitar needs the same these guitars had plywood tops\what would you charge to make these tops if i give you the plans?? i am going to send you the plans to the dangelicoexcel anyway, maybe you could do somegood stuff with it thank you for all you do! st forgione
They're both great but the one with the Taylor style bracing was the one I preferred the sound of. I can't even explain why, I just liked it best.
I totally dig your videos! Man, look at that X-Carve go!
I'd love to collab with you!
Notice F1 is here with ebony for fretboard to scar my guitar and hope your day making better guitars and breaking the myth please help with the project and make my scar guitar neck with my ebony
Wow I love them both!
Both Great !!
I like them both they both are very loud and sound awesome
Nice edits!
Martin brace seems louder and maybe brighter !?
I really like what your doing they all look great. Seems each one is a little nicer than the last. Why don't you finish with any type of polyurethane or oil rubs?
I do!
@@scarmyguitar it is done so well you can't tell! I've seen you do it on the electric but not the acoustic.
Love the dog
I just watched it again. How much for one of your acoustics?
Damn, #2… Er… #6 sounds pretty damned good
i hear a difference...but i think its more the difference in top wood than bracing...i prefer the taylor braced sound.
I've been trying to figure this out in regards to Resonator guitars. They're pretty much all built like a tank with very little attention paid to acoustic properties of the wood body. I've been wanting to know how one would sound if it was built more like a traditional acoustic so your tone not only comes from the cone but also the body.
Interesting!
Cool looking guitars Sean . Not much difference in tone ,maybe a little taller bracing would bring out a different tone . Don't know , maybe call 'em and ask how tall their bracing is . But maybe it's a secret . You could get a friend with one to measure it. 👍 Bad looking guitars for sure. 🎸😎
They both sound good. They sound different and I do like both.
Ol hammy I love it
What it is Sean!
They Both sound just as great to my ears!. send it to me hahaha! Thnx!
Dude you crack me up 😂
Mad skills. Walmart would sell these for $89.
Meaning of life found here.
I think I like the Taylor a little more it’s slightly less bright
I still love the guitar you gave me!!!
Awesome! Glad you are finally able to play!
Bracing does give different tonal benefits, whether more bite, bass, or treble, as well as help stability. Can definitely hear the difference between the Martin and Taylor. I’m always a Martin guy, like the lower end. Taylor is treble defined. Martin you hear more beefiness
They're real close in sound. The Martin might be a tad bit brighter.
I would love to buy one of your guitarz

Make my Scar guitar Sean!
hit me up
Hahah! Sean..... you can jimmy-rig!
Taylor bracing seems to have a richer tone. Both sound great to me.
The Martin bracing sounds better to me but HOLY SCHNICKEES, THAT CANARYWOOD IS GORGEOUS!!!
#DYTMSG
Yes it absolutely does matter
what an opening I like it
love the laser logo I've always felt it was the tone woods in an acoustic and te way they resonated together like a stradivarius
always loved an ebony fretboard on a maple guitar
The Maple 🍁 looked best with the Martin Braces ,🤔I'd have to listen to the video a few times ,But I do think other one had a slightly better sound , IMHO ,NO OFFENSE INTENDED !!!
no offense taken thanks!
Future self. Likes the one with walnut
Taylor bracing, please
#1 sounds good
Resonant!
Hey Sean! You got a great channel here and would love to send you one of our kits for you to review. I hope you get to read this comment. 😁
Hit me up on Facebook or Instagram. My email address is under the about tab under business inquiries. Thanks
@@scarmyguitar Awesome! We will be in touch soon 🤘
I prefer the Martin but both sound great.
Taylor for sure 😂 😂 but I’m biased
Based on the limited playing time, I probably preferred the Taylor, not sure why, b/c they really sounded pretty much the same. In a blind A/B test, I bet listeners couldn't tell the difference.
I can't tell
The one with Taylor bracing sounded a bit warmer to me, the one with Martin bracing sounded brighter. I wouldn't have known which was which if you didn't tell me, but the 2 guitars definitely have a noticeably different sound from one another. Preference between the two is clearly going to vary from person to person, but they both sounded great.
Thanks for the reminder @peekayboo
They both sound different, so maybe the bracing does have an effect on the tone
2 acoustics in 10 minutes & 23 seconds? Huh.
That’s like all the food competition shows on TV that consolidate 5 hrs into 30 minutes (w/ commercials)!
👍
Martin, is brighter
Oh, yeah…. #notificationsquad
I wouldn't be surprised if your method catches on.
Plus I really like the bridge idea!
Bro you called it, look around youtube now lol!
The Taylor style is brighter.
The Martin style has blues tone.
The thickness of the top back and sides is what you need to worry about. The bracing is secondary with your design. Your going to get more resonate guitars with scalloped bracing than strait. I can't watch you live with all the stuff going here, but I'd love the opportunity to send you some materials.
You know it's real funny I haven't heard back. What's your size for a walnut acoustic guitar blank. I've been following Justin Johnston for a year and I've followed him and you as far as I can go. I can't watch you live with 2 little ones running around the house. I've got one 7 and one 5 that have 4 guitars between them. They are into building stuff. Tell me what size blanks to send. I've been playing guitar since I was 8. That Justin Johnston guitar was sweet. I think your at the top of your game. I want to pass it on to my kids.
I don't know if you were serious about your dog eating no dogfood, but if you were, take my advice and get him or her on some quality dogfood. My dog developed an irritable bowel condition that made her very sick (chronically sick), and meant that I now have to feed her a very expensive prescription diet.
My other dogs have never eaten dog food either. The oldest one is a poodle mutt, 18 yrs old, still jumpin up on the couch by himself! Sorry bout yer pup!
I got the ebony
if the guitar like that ists electric guitar, its good
CNC made guitars... you didn't really voice either of them... cool experiment tho
I did though...what video did you watch? Gotta stop skippin around
#notificationsquaad
I'm gonna get with you soon!
Listening on my phone, so I can't hear much difference. In my opinion though, more mahogany = darker/warmer sounding, more maple = brighter. I think rosewood is warmer sounding too.
No offense but your logo in there looks too much how can I say like biker style I would do it more classic style Just my opinion
Yeah thanks but no thanks!
