  • In this video, I review the Batking laminate zebrawood acoustic-electric baritone ukulele, model CB-103. For full disclosure, Musoo, the parent company of Batking ukuleles, sent me this instrument at no cost for the purpose of doing a review.

Thanks for this review. I'm thinking of buying the Ovation style version of this because it comes in left handed and has a pin bridge, all at a reasonable price. There's basically no other option available unless you're prepared to pay 5x the price. I would have paid a little extra for a solid top rather than a laminate but it sounds decent enough to me. The overall build quality of budget instruments has become really superb.

I agree. There are some really good values out there these days. For most ukuleles, the only difference between a left-handed and right-handed instrument is the nut. So if you find a right-handed instrument you like, get it and restring it! I have restrung ukuleles for left-handed players, without changing the nut, and they still played just fine. However, you may decide you want to refine the nut slots, which is not that hard to do. If you don't feel comfortable doing it yourself, then have a local luthier do it for you. Thanks for watching and commenting! Check out my other reviews!

I gotta say. I really do love the look of zebrawood. It's a bummer about some of those finish flaws... they all seem pretty minor though. I like the sound of it.

I like the look of zebrawood too. Fortunately, finish flaws on the fretboard are minor and are simple to fix. Thanks for watching and commenting!
