This thing sounds absolutely incredible, thanks for answering the questions in the comments. I have one more general question someone has one for sale nearby what are common issues unique to the diesel? What questions should I ask? The one I'm looking at has def delete as well
Thanks! If it has already been deleted, you should ask the specifics.. deleted could me different things to different people. Ask if the downpipe has been changed out. What tuner was used and what type of tune does the ECU have? Was the EGR cooler deleted? Ask when the work was performed, i.e. at what mileage? Ask if the intake manifold and runners have ever been cleaned (main problem on these is carbon buildup in the intake). The main problems in stock form are the carbon buildup on the intake, EGR cooler failure, and SCR/Cat clogging up with soot/carbon deposits...
@@XCracer527 hey boss I’m definitely looking to pick one up soon, if you block off the EGR with the plate and tune it out is it still necessary to block off the cooler?
Wow hardly any smoke at all I'm realy struggling to stop mine from smoking iv checked and changed so many things I'm starting to think it's my tune just realy fuel happy as its black in to grey once on full boost .
Great video! Can you give me an idea if there is any drone or anything that would get annoying at highway speeds if i go completely straight with no resonator or muffler? Appreciate any input! thanks
Caleb Linman thanks! There was some drone at acceleration and when the motor was under load around speeds of 30-45mph, but once up to highway speeds and the rpms dropped, there was no drone in mine.
Yep, catless. Straight pipe from turbo back. Diesel smell was only noticeable if you were sitting for a minute or so. Outside the cab, it smelled like any other straight piped diesel...
I have a 2010 BMW 335d with 144k miles right now. Just had issues with alternator and struts so got that fixed and now im looking to increase performance and increase mods on the vehicle. Im thinking of getting (Turner Motorsport M57 CAI Intake - E90 335d (M57), and I want the car to gain some horsepower and sound, what do yall reccomend ?
Could I recommend the ATM M57 CAI instead? It’s $100 cheaper and excellent quality... it will get you the same performance gains as the Turner. Aside from that, you could look into a cat back exhaust system for better sound. JR Auto Tuning offers a Stage 2 tune that gives you +70hp/+60TQ on stock hardware... check out tunemyeuro.com. If you want larger performance gains on the M57 platform, you have to consider the mods listed in my description and delete emissions equipment.
i bought my stuff on ebay. DPF delete pipe : $185 EGR delete : $22 (from china) Intercooler : $285 SCR : gutted out by tuning shop. I now do 400 hp / 650 torque on a stage 2.9 Malone.
I would like to add some questions. I’m only at 165,000 miles and I might put in a new DPF or delete, undecided. Fuel Mileage Before/After? Did you delete all of the obsolete sensors? NOX, Temp, etc... Free of Check Engine Light? How many miles since delete? Is the car still Reliable? Is it worth it to delete in your opinion? Thank you for sharing 👍👍
slagletoby hey man. First off it is absolutely worth it. I would delete the DPF/SCR system, as well as the EGR, all the obsolete sensors, etc. That is what I did. I saw a minimal increase in mpg, average increase of 3-5mpg. The tricky part is after the delete, you have so much more power, so it’s hard to keep you foot out of it!! I had check engine light troubles right after the initial tune, but I sent my ECM back to Malone and got it taken care of. The biggest thing the delete does is increase the reliability and the power of the car. Again, 100% recommended in my opinion.
I did an EGR, swirl flaps, SCR/DPF, and muffler deletes. Basically all emissions related equipment. I did all the work myself, including fabricating the exhaust. A better listing is in the video description. It’s well worth it!
@@XCracer527 I realised after you weren’t from the UK. It’s a yearly check for certain things and they have got quite strict on dpf delete. I’m concerned cause just bought a car with this. In fairness it’s more illegal for the garage to sell it knowing it’s got dpf deleted so I could get my money back but I love the car so much.
swirl flaps in place would actually add power and lowered consumption. removing them is good money for services and those who produce them. yes, there is a risk of them falling, but it was on some old vehicles...
Mine were clogged with carbon and not sealing properly, so I was losing boost and ultimately power. I opted to take them out to eliminate the need for manifold removal and cleaning in the future, and potential failure. I saw big power gains and better fuel mileage, but I also did all of the other mods at the same time, so there were several factors playing a part in the gains I experienced.
@livey oone I had swirl flaps removed but requested to put them back on. go talk to engine engineer, not your mechanic. you probably can't feel even your car. yes swirl flaps can fail, however they help combustion and there is a reason they are there. if engine doesnt have them, it was designed to work without them at first place. mechanics will tell you whatever u wanna hear. the fact is they lower torque at low end and add fuel consumption. period.
@livey oone no need to argue with someone who has no clue. I read what engine engineers had to say. not some garage cowboys mechanics. plus I felt it, heard it, saw it. you won't convince me. it's a fact. period. no need to tell me anything, because u have no clue, and you are not alone, but it's ok.
@@martinkulik9466 martin martin, I agree and disagree at the same Time, you can still blank the flaps and code it to the ecu so it does works much better. Engineers all they are going to tell you is, this and that is wrong and completely against their design. Fok it, if there is wizard chip tunner who knows his stuff he can modify the non existing flaps so the engine doesnt struggle on the lower rpms ( thats what I did ) . Both problems Resolved. From the different perspective, I would rather sacrifice lower rpms than risking completely engine failure for that sake. You sound like one who didn’t have the manifold taken off to see how the actual flaps are designed, how clogged the manifold gets around that area etc etc. Such a shame. I got the “new” redesigned flaps on mine one, but under the silicon layer there was still the good old metal flap secured with two little screws on it, silicone layer was half rubbed down, flaps clogged like granny and the seals around the manifold section going to each flaps was causing boost leak too. What to say more to that problem. Obviously it’s better to blank them in any case. Done. Good luck 🍀
