People just say whatever they want. I was told i didn’t have sisterlocks because i have “too many” but thanks to my wonderful loctician I’ve started to embrace my crown. You hair is gorgeous!
On tik tok I saw a couple videos saying less locs may make the hair feel heavy as they double In size and grow longer. More locs wouldn't feel so heavy. I wonder how true that is
Girl! I remember watching your videos a year ago when I was preparing to loc my hair. I remember wondering if I would feel the same way if my lock count was less than 400. But let me tell you - after I sat in that chair for 32 hours to get them installed, I was SO HAPPY I ended up with 366 locs. I CANNOT IMAGINE sitting in a chair for longer than 2.5 to 3 hours to get these retightened lol your hair is maturing beautifully! I'll be 1 year locked next month and I'm so excited to see how my hair flourishes as well. Thank you for being transparent! I'm sure it has and will continue to help a lot of people.
Thank you so much for watching! I love that your relief at having fewer than 400 locs was immediate 😂. It took me a while to get to that point, but I'm definitely there now!!
Having a low count is a blessing in disguise honestly. I have 420 sisterlocks that are shoulder length and my loctician must be a magician because she completes the job in 2 hours. My locks around the hairline are a lot more delicate. My loctician joined a few making double- headed dragons. It still looks neat and I'd rather them be there then fall out. Your locs look great, don't pay the gatekeepers any mind.
420 locs in two hours?! Yes girl, I think you have a magician on your hands 🤩. My loctician has been doing this for over a decade and still isn’t that fast. I’m going to ask my her about joining the locs at the front.. once the length grows back of course haha 🥴. Thank you for sharing!
Your hair is beautiful. I have 374 sisterlocks and I struggled with the lower number at first but looking at my hair and the size of my locks and the size of my peanut head, I have the right number lol
Finally. An update. ♥️♥️ I have 362 locks and I was waiting on an update to see how yours was looking. And they are gorgeous. I feel cheated some days but mostly it’s ok. I’m only 6 months in. Thanks for the update
Thank you 💕💕! Hey, we are almost loc twins! 😊 I can absolutely relate to the feeling of being cheated, especially early on in my journey. Even 6 months in, I felt like my locs weren’t “plentiful” enough. But then they thickened up! And yours will too 😊
Hey girl! So glad you posted this. You documenting your journey has been so helpful. I’m 14 months into my journey and I only have about 380 locs. I initially was really disappointed. And seriously thought about taking them down and starting over. But now I feel the exact same way. lol I’m loving it! Thank you
I LOVE my Sisterlocks. I have a little over 400 locs and it only takes 2 hours max for my retightning. My hair is right above my shoulders. I'm 7 months into my journey. Your hair looks GREAT!
When I saw your locks I was shooting for at least your number count frfe. I have low density hair with 394 locks, now almost 1yr later, these baby do swell lol. Your hair is beautiful!
I have been established for 6 (lol) days. And I always said, prior, I did not want a LOT of locks in my hair. I was afraid that I'd look like a mop-head... I have 327 locs and then started to worry about "are these actually sisterlocks"? Which lead me to your original vid... I am glad to see that you have the volume you wanted and you trusted the process. They look amazing. I will do the same> In all, I did get what I asked for.
If you asked anyone how many locks they thought were in your head, they'd probably say 500 or 600. It looks like you have a lot of locs, without actually having that many, and not having to deal with the work associated with having lots of locs, like longer Retightenings, more frequent Retightenings and higher costs. The way your hair looks, is how people envision Sisterlocks to look. And the longer they get, the more beautiful and slimmer they will look Your loctitian definitely did a good job.
I'm glad you came to not only accept but appreciate what you have. The number of locks trademark sisterlocs are supposed to have is actually why I chose to get interlocking microlocs instead.
3 hours is long! Speed has a lot to do with the loctician. My 386 locks are retightened in under 2 hours and she can completed 500 lock in about 3 hours. I have super dense hair too. Your hair is gorgeous!.
Hi! Great video! I never even had the urge to count my sisterlocks and probably never will honestly. Only our thoughts and opinions matter for our locks. Anyone who even cares to comment on someone else's locks needs to do some shadow/inner work to figure out what's going on within them to even want to bring someone down or feel "less than" about their sisterlocks. Your locs are GORGEOUS and so are YOU! 😍New Subbie!
I just thought about it, I would probably interlock my hair if I ever got to the point of being overwhelmed with getting it retightened. But I will ALWAYS have my hair locked for the rest of my life due to spiritual reasons. Peace & Love to you!
Loc quantity has to do with the size you want, the size of your head and the density of your hair (how much hair you have in a square inch). Thats all. There is no pre-parting to guarantee a certain quantity. Your locs have always looked amazing and I could not understand why you were so unhappy.
I think the retightening time has a lot to do with your consultant. I have over 600 locs and my reties take 3.5 to 4 hours every 6 weeks. Your locks look amazing. People should not get so caught up on the lock count. I am a Sisterlocks trainee. According to the class, 400 is the average number of locks based upon the standard grid and sizing; however, your actual number is based upon your hair density and the size of your head. Someone with a small head or thin hair may not get 400 locks. I have over 600 locks because my hair is very dense and I have a big head. All of our locks are beautiful and unique.
Great to have you back👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 your locs look amazing❣I only started my journey 6 months ago & was worried because I didn’t have 500 plus locs…6 months on & after watching your video I’m cool have 430 loc🙌🏾🙌🏾
So good to see you back. I remember your video where you were unhappy about your loc count and look at you now! I love it your locs are beautiful. I’m currently 16 months in with 507 sisterlocks and my retie takes 2.5 hours every 5 weeks. Now I cannot imagine ever having to maintain my own hair with this amount. Keep trusting the process

Thank you!! 😍 I hope you don’t get to the point where you want to take them down either! I love the look of 500+ locs, and your locs are stunninggg. Do you retie them yourself??
Your channel is new to me. Your locks are beautiful! I can’t believe you don’t have over 400. Have you yourself counted them? I have counted mine. I started with 420, but when I count I have between 397 to 408. However, my locks are not as full as yours but they are as tinny as yours. That’s why I have a hard time with you having 350 and not more then 400. You look more like you have about 450.
Thank you!!! Yep, I’ve counted them so many times. At the beginning of my journey, I was so obsessed with my loc number that I counted my locs obsessively. I’m confident that I have around 350 (have lost a few and gained a couple). It’s crazy how the same number of locs can look sooo different on different heads! 😳😳💕💕
Yes!!! Same she literally ignored my wants and what we discussed at consultation and gave me fewer locs, I have 313 but wanted closer to 400, AND she left much more hair out than I requested... like half a loc in some instances
I loove this! I have a big over 300 w loose edges (room tol add more) and i thought i wanted around 500but after doing my first two reties on my own 😅😅😅im SO happy i dont have as many but i LOVE the higher density girlies locs too
Your hair is beautiful 😍😍😍 I’m 1 week in with 432 locks! Mine are so thin I hope I get your volume cus I’m a whole plucked chicken. I wish I did this yearssss ago. So far 1 came out (the edges) but I expected it
One thing I noticed about having a higher loc count is that they’re indistinguishable from a distance at least watching on video. They look like loose hair. That’s fine if you like that look but personally I like the look of locs. And since they look like loose hair I wonder if they function like it vs more thicker locs. So I feel like at that point why get them if the maintenance is going to be the same?
Greetings beautiful. Your hair looks gorgeous, you're absolutely right no one could tell your loc count from sight. Your hair is thick and full looking, just gorgeous. I have sisterlocks, but have never been caught up with loc count or maintaining my grid. With regards to you loosing locs though. I think it is because the gap between your retightening are too long. I do my own retightening every 4-6week, since being 6mths 🔒 (I have been 🔒 for 6yrs with 540+ locs. I am only stating my loc count to emphasize that I still maintain my own hair).
