Thank you so much William. I just lost my finger in a traumatic work accident and worry I’ll never play six string again. This is EXACTLY what I was looking for! Thank you!
Hi William, I'm interested in the string gauges you're using and if the tensions work OK, I'm assuming your guitar is 23" scale length. I've been searching (unsuccessfully) for a 6 string 25" scale with a really narrow finger board so I can string the middle four strings CGDA like you've done here, as I'd always assumed the 23" scale of my tenor would be too short. You've open my eyes to another possible solution. Cheers, Jerry.
It seems to be hold the tension just fine. Pretty easy conversion, just required a little filing on the nut for the larger strings. I also had to ream out the hole for the C string on the tuning peg a little with a drill bit.
@@williamtickhill1905 Thanks for that. I'll give it a go. The mandocello strings are designed for 25" scale, but I guess if I find them a bit loose I can tune up to D. Thx again :)
@@RockStarOscarStern634 I dunno? mandocello has a 25" scale length so I'm thinking prob wouldn't work. Also very difficult to get and expensive here in NZ. After trying a lot of different strings (and guitars) I've settled on stringing the first four slots of a regular 25' guitar with 56 C, 40 G, 30 D , 16p A. It's a Yamaha silent guitar and it's working a treat. Bach sounds great!

You're very welcome.
Lost fingers didn't stop Tony Iommi and Django Reinhart either, so rock on! 🔥
