- I started doing runs with Early Ascend which is the Temple of Time void out strat except we have to avoid touching the floor when getting the Purah Pad as well so that Link respawns all the way at the top where the wing chest was. It saves ~20 seconds the way I did it in this run. The last few days I've been preparing for the any% run I'll be doing at Twitchcon during GDQX but there's still a bunch of room to improve it and more new strats that I'll try out after Twitchcon is done.

doesnt matter if its outdated. the game itself never changed all it did was patch glitches and help with the stuff on the outside.

so in summary, u glitched through the opening cutscene, went through the 4 shrines with the zonai gliders by piling stuff onto it like rubies, bombs, nectar, etc while collecting em, running around while trying to draw your sword constantly to maintain your speed, cooked the nectar, then went into a well near purahs lab, glitched through the hole into the depths to ganon's lair, killed the enemy rush while grabbing their mats, glitched through the boss rush to ganondorf boss, kill the boss, then the final boss and thats it.

how do you get the version you like without modding your switch? do speedrunners all just have modded switches?
If you want 1.0 and have a physical copy you can factory reset your switch to get rid of the update data and play from the cartridge which has 1.0 on it. For in between versions it's very difficult to get without a modded switch.

I wouldn't see a reason to forbid it, unless the route requires the speedrunner to upgrade horse stats.
No because that requires setup prior to new game which is not allowed for TotK speedruns.

@@Pearl7sp There's no leaderboard for botw+totk runs so that would be up to the person running. If the horse was obtained during the botw speedrun then I think it would be fine although I'm not sure how much it would help.

I don't understand what I'm seeing with the ruby throw to rewind. Is that a glitch?
Using an ability after throwing an item will cancel the animation allowing Link to throw the next one immediately.
How did you downgrade the version?

( I am not sure about that ) I think because he is in 1.0.0 , player 5 can duplicate materials or zonai devices by just pressing the b button and the y button . It's a glitch who work, I think, by sort the wings (y) and then leave the menu (b) . ( I am sorry because my english suck )

Buy it again on a not connected switch.
If you have a cartridge version, you can factory reset your switch to get rid of the update data, then only play offline so it never updates.

What he was doing before the fight with the spears was called Weapon Smuggling. It's a glitch that lets you duplicate and hold multiple weapons at once and the damage stacks. So it looks like he's holding one spear, but it's actually many at once.

Weapon smuggling. basically you hold multiple weapons in your hand and the damage stacks. This was removed pretty quick by nintendo. Most speedruns for totk are in version 1.0.0

Imo timer should end on the final hit of demon dragon. The grabbing zeldas hand will happen whether you hold down the A button or not so basically 1:17 in cutscene is added to the end of each run. I can see the argument for ending it when you grab zeldas hand because its a cool conclusion, but I just felt like bringing this up somewhere
It definitely would be, but it’s not the final input in the controller befit you complete the game. So it makes sense

Like JoyHappiness said, the game doesn't grab Zelda's hand for you. If you don't press A you just float midair forever and if you tap A instead of holding it you have to dive back down to Zelda and retry. So there are inputs required after the final hit before you beat the game.

The performance is only 44 minutes. The practice and prep time is countless hours. Thousands of hours. More thousands of practices and attempts.
Mind you, something people horribly miss interpret, is that not only does take hundreds of hours for practice, they do play the game casually first.
