    I learned that you actually make your own alcohol activated pallete literally what ever color you want from scratch. You just follow the same method you would with pax paints. One part pros aid adhesive and one part non toxic acrylic paint of your choice mix well then let mixture dry (in what ever container you want them to be in) all you have to do to reactivate the pigment is just 99 percent alcohol. If you want to keep it as Pax all you need to do is skip the last step and leave in and air tight container of your choice.

    Thank you Angie, great tip. I wonder if some final set or like product over might help with the longevity, then translucent powder, humm . I know I will certainly use this for practice. And honestly on some sets that have a super low, low budget, worth a try.

    Ooh this is a topic I love, I'm also obsessed with my alcohol activated palettes, the American Horror Story is a recent love of mine. Also have you tried the Brand Mr Dashbo? They're a cheaper alternative (especially for UK given that we pay upwards of £80 for the PPI ones) and a really good quality too.
    Another great tip when you don't need it to be waterproof/smudgeproof is using the greasepaints with moisturiser instead of alcohol, thins it down nicely which is handy for anyone who doesn't have access to IPA.

    For the cream makeup, you can set it with Final Set from Ben Nye c: it will reduce the smearing, and give the wear a little more time.

    What, in your opinion, is the difference in quality between European Body Arts vs Skin Illustrator? I'm looking to dive into my first alcohol-based paint setup and noticed that EBA palettes were $20-25 cheaper than SI palettes. Is that just because SI is used more and therefore the price reflects it's popularity?

    • @bekkalitzner7227
      @bekkalitzner7227 6 лет назад

      Brandon Moner
      You get less product from EBA But the quality is better but
      Skin illustrator is more expensive because of their popularity and they give more product

    • @keanap8340
      @keanap8340 9 лет назад +1

      Anlly Hernandez Yeah, it's the same alcohol you use for injuries, but you need 99% which is different from the usual 70% and 91% they usually sell.

  • @Hlbb4
    @Hlbb4 10 лет назад

    Do you have to use 99% alcohol? I know its only sold online because of its toxicity but will 70% alcohol work okay?

  • @mirandayeo7427
    @mirandayeo7427 10 лет назад

    I've always wondered...why the 99% alcohol instead of the typical 70%? would you be able to do this trick with just plain old 70%? I can not find 99% anywhere!

    • @ravengraves2328
      @ravengraves2328 10 лет назад +1

      You can use regular (70%) alcohol with the grease or cream paints to thin them out into a "wash". It will just take them longer to dry. However, the alcohol palettes are formulated to activate with 99% alcohol or higher only. You can buy the activator at a special FX shop which sells the palettes or order 99% ethyl alcohol online from Amazon or something. 99% ethyl alcohol is extremely flammable and not usually sold in stores. I think the highest they sell is 91% but it will not activate the palette.

    • @jessfxstore
      @jessfxstore 10 лет назад

      70% is a better percentage for sanitising your brushes and makeup because 99% evaporates too quickly to kill germs thoroughly but for the alcohol activated palettes 99% is the one!
