I would definitely watch the Queen Live Aid performance before the movie. I prefer watching the real Queen performances over the biopic, because nobody can perform like Freddie. If you get a chance, check out "Love of my Life" at Wembley. It's absolutely amazing!

I was waiting for this reaction. I enjoyed the movie Bohemian Rhapsody as a Queen fan. You'll definitely dive into his sadness through his life trying to figure out his sexuality and what not. But you need to see Live Aid before you watch the movie. Theres a RUclips video that did a side by side of the original, with the movie version. One version was played in one ear and the movie on the other. So Remi Malek pulled off Freddie SO SO well.

This song is actually meant to be played with another song of theirs called “Bicycle Race”. “Fat Bottom Girls” was the A side of the track. “Bicycle Race” was the B side. They often played the two songs back to back in concert. Similarly to the way that “We Will Rock You” and We are the Champions” were played back to back in live shows as well.

When you're a little further into your Queen journey and have listened to their later stuff you should watch The Show Must Go On, which is a documentary produced by Jim Beach (Queen's manager) primarily about Queen after Freddie died.
    Other songs to react to:
White Queen (Odeon Hammersmith), You Take My Breath Away (Hyde Park '77), Dragon Attack & Save Me (Montreal '81 - actually anything from that concert is great), anything from the Wembley '86 concert, Love of My Life (Rio '85) Live Aid '85 (if you haven't done that yet), Stone Cold Crazy, The Prophet's Song (lyric version), '39 (there are numerous live versions that are great), Spread Your Wings (official version - John's on piano), Anything from the Budapest concert. There are quite a few fun (and a few sad) videos from their later years after they quit touring because of Freddie's illness. With 20 years of genius to pick from, there are just too many to name them all.

Personally, I'd say no to the movie. The great thing about Queen is that there are a number of quality documentaries and interviews on line. There are a lot of books written. Their story is complex and fascinating. A real rabbit hole and a fun deep dive. The movie had some wonderful performances in it and it was a great way to get younger audiences introduced to the band, but you already know who they are. Too much fiction in the movie. I understand why they did it, typical movie business tactics, but the truth is far more interesting.

Personally, I enjoyed the movie. It introduces Queen, highlights their journey. Very true that timelines are shifted around and the character that was portrayed as evil was an amalgam of a few people. The main goal of Hollywood is ALWys to make money and entertain. Therefore more “drama” is added for entertainment/money purposes. Brian May realizes this, but says that Rami respected and portrayed Freddie well, the story of their struggle as a band was shown, and their music was introduced/included. He understood that Hollywood needed to do what they did to make a well sold movie. It introduced many new younger people to Queen. That’s why a Queen song was #1 on Spotify for 2020, Official Bohemian Rhapsody has over 1 Billion views, and there are so many new people doing Reaction Videos, Instagram posts, viewing of Documentaries & Official Videos, and sold out attendances at Queen + AL Concerts (for those that chose to). . The movie added to the Fandom and continues their Legacy. Anyway, that’s how I look at it and I’m 70.

Also, you reacted to a line about riding a bike... it was his way of shaming people for a sad joke men have been using for too many yrs. "Fat/thick girls are fun like Mopeds, it's all fun 'til your friends see you on them" Freddy said many times over the yrs that people/women especially come in all shapes and sizes and ALL are beautiful! Basicly - don't judge a book

@@nageea Oh, where to begin. I can't remember every scene but there's a lot.
The way the band met, the way Freddie met Jim and everything that happens between them, Freddie being mad at Mary for being pregnant, Freddie saying some awful things in the movie in general. The movie making it look like Freddie was the bad guy and that he somehow broke up the band when the band never broke up in the first place and they all had solo projects.
Paul being a villian and so many of the scenes involving Paul. The movie almost made it look like he was holding Freddie hostage when in reality, Freddie was in control of his own life and was having a lot of fun with different people. He had multiple boyfriends that the movie never shows and he was ALWAYS on good terms with the band and Mary.
Of course the band members would fight sometimes in the studio because they had different opinions but there was never a huge dramatic fight like in the movie where Freddie later had to apologize so he could do Live Aid with them. AND speaking of Live Aid, he didn't know he was ill at the time of that event. It wasn't until 1987 that he really knew.

He was very unfairly depicted in the film

He isn't wearing overalls, that's suspenders fairly popular in the 80's. But YOU may be familiar with them if you think back to your grandfathers...The much older generation, were very well known to wear them long before the 80
' came around. (Watch the movie)

Forget the movie, unless you view it purely as entertainment and not a biography. For something REAL watch Live Aid 1985, the Queen performance is largely recognised as THE GREATEST CONCERT EVER, by many polls, plus, there are a couple of songs in it you haven't yet reacted to.

They only played half the song.
We Will Rock You and We Are The Champions are actually ONE song.
They are supposed to be played back to back.
Guessing they were shorter on time.. at that part of the concert.

Thanks. Yes, it went by quickly. That was the "official video" version, which is somewhere from :45 to 1:00 shorter than the album version. I got this album, "Jazz" (33 & 1/3 LP) when it first came out. Because of this song, and one called "Bicycle", they put a poster in the album. It folded out into a 4 panel wide shot of naked women riding 10 speeds around some school track. Yeah, I hid that poster. ;) tavi

The movie was kinda fun but not super accurate... standard biopic manufactured drama. He definitely struggled with his sexuality though. There are some really excellent documentaries around, especially on RUclips.

Watch the movie then watch the documentary. That's what I did. Let me know more of the background of what was happening in the movie. I think If I watched the documentary first, I wouldn't have enjoyed the movie as much.

The movie is totally worth watching. It doesn’t sugarcoat anything, which I appreciate. But…a bit of Queen trivia…Brian May, the lead guitarist, is an actual genius. He is Dr. Brian May, He has a PhD is Astrophysics. And each member of the group is in the song writers hall of fame, having each had at least 2 songs each reach #1. There is nothing they can’t do.
