Tracy Sze-Wing Chan - Ruan Musician

Tracy Sze-Wing Chan specializes in the ruan, which is a versatile but delicate Chinese plucked string instrument which could be traced back to the Han Dynasty. Born and raised in Hong Kong, she developed a love for Chinese music during her secondary school years and received training from the Hong Kong Music Office. As a member of the Hong Kong Youth Chinese Plucked String Orchestra and the Hong Kong Youth Chinese Orchestra, she performed at local and international events.
After moving to Canada, she joined the Toronto Chinese Orchestra (TCO) and has since become an active member. Apart from performing with TCO, she worked with western musicians and performed at the National Bank’s String Music & Art Exhibition 2022. She also collaborated with the Strings Attached Orchestra as a ruan soloist in 2022 and with the Canadian Chinese Orchestra in 2023.
