THE DAMAGE HAS BEEN DONE!!! Seriously, the damage really has been done - I can't listen to other music anymore than this frigggin masterpiece of an album.
Cannot. Stop. Listening. All the instruments flying under the radar but combining to make such a rich sound, real lyricism, and light and shade in the singing.
i know man and they easily could have abused that vocal stacking and blown our minds even more in the song yet they just tease so slightly with it there. such amazing songwriting and production
If Theo Katzman doesn't win the Gershwin award within my lifetime, there will go my faith in humanity. This song is one of the best songs I've ever heard.
this is a cliche, but words cannot describe my feelings towards this song. It radiates heartbreak, love, nostalgia and happiness in a way that I've never heard before. This song is truly like no other. thank you so much theo.
I've listened to the Vulfpeck cover (is it still called a "cover" if a bunch of the musicians are in both versions?), but this is my first time listening to Theo's original. They're both so good and so different. They hit different parts of the heart and explore different flavors of pain from the same experience.
Coming here from the new Vulfpeck record and man what have I missed?! Never since Get Lucky have I been so addicted to a song after first listen. ':D The writing, arrangement and recording is phenomenal!
@@AdamHallacher watch some of their live videos - I think a memorable example is Theo's performance of 'one of these nights' live in Berlin? Joe does a sick bass solo at the start, not sure if this is the first example
I have not heard lyrics with such an astute and poignant observational repose around the tricky emotional subject of love since Leonard Cohen walked amongst us. At the same time, the mindspace of a person hurt and casually scorned is just rawly present as well. Beautiful melody, too. Theo's like the comprehensive designer of the millennial heart.
Sincerely beautiful and appropriately unnerving. I really love this song Theo, there's so many "love" songs in this world and 99% of them take the same perspective on the word. I like this angle, its refreshing and the touch of cynicism adds a sense of authenticity. The real world is a lot more warped than most love songs portray :/
Damn, this song is so good. From the lyrics to the orchestration and -chefs kiss- the DAMN mix, holy shit. The duality of the lyrics being indecipherable from which party said "love" make it so captivating. A classic.
ive been listening to this over and over and I can say now without a doubt that the keys and drums entering at 0:08 is one of the best moments Ive heard in a while
I loooove this as much as "Love is a Beautiful Thing" on the last Vulfpeck album, which really opened my ears to Theo's voice and songwriting skills. If this album is filled with songs like that, I'm SO EXCITED
My brother introduced me to you. (We're from michigan) and i just have to say in the past 3 months I've spent countless hours listening to you and Vulfpeck, and I'd love to see you whenever touring starts again. I look forward to following you from now until the end.
Theo's songs have some really weird kind of depth to them. They are genius in their simplicity, never doing more than necessary. But everything they end up doing is so good and heartfelt and elegant. It's the mark of a great musician that is not afraid to make decisions and commit to them, but also being MUCH more capable than they let on
I just wish you all can shine by yourselves with your own vibe but at the same time don't lose what you got as a band with vulfpeck. Vulfpeck is like a mutant where all these different talented styles come together. And what makes it special is that every member has such an amazing talent on their own. Your vintage love songwriting is so fine hot damn!
Lee Pardini is such a lucky guy. Theo and Dawes are pretty much my 2 favorite groups right now. And by complete coincidence (Cody Fry led me to Vulfpeck led me to Theo).
I want a movie with just theo's songs sprinkled all over
So its just an hour long breakup scene
Fan edit of Marriage Story? Let's gooo
Where in the process Theo wins the presidential election
A Wes Anderson film?
Make it a sequel to "The Point"
lol... bravo ! A more beefed up Hallmark movie.... Something that I can have a glass of Cab to, and cry my eyes out.
Lee Pardini has been crushing it on keys for all these songs
Pardini been killing it for a while on a ton of videos of Theo's live performances

He’s got one finger on the emphasis button and the others on the mood.
So beautifully played those keys.

Check out his song "Love is a beautiful thing", these are my two favs of his
I literally can't stop listening to this song. Just found it today
Wow. This is like a modernized hybrid of The Eagles, Hall and Oats, and Fleetwood Mac. Any one of those bands would have killed for this song.
so ffing true
Stevie Nicks would have slayed this song.
nailed it

At first I thought this song was about the girl telling the guy that she “loved him” but then I realized that it’s a self reflective song.
